  • Heart and soul.. both.

  • @sharmika uhhh yeah I was just expressing my opinion after you sooooo....you're still an idiot :)

  • 61 gave up.

  • @yuricostatelles 61 people*

  • @yuricostatelles 61 people gave up*

  • This is amateur hour compared to the Gabriel/Bush original.

  • @Sharmika you are a fucking idiot, that's soul that you're hearing. And anything can be a country song. Go be a lawyer or something. Your career as a music critic is doomed, you're obviously either deaf or plain ignorant...

  • @CaseyFolds Oh, so now one cannot express his or her opinion? Take Persen and cool down.

  • the guy sounds terrible...It wasn't a country song!

  • @Sharmilka can't you see that the song is about don't giving up yourself? it isn't about the kind of a song it's a song that talks to your deep soul(if you have one)...

  • @yuricostatelles The song does NOT belong to them, they just cover it, so what''s he difference ?

Why are you people so ANGRY and mean? I know! This guy makes you all aggressive here, calling others, who do not praise this cover, 'idiots'.

I don't like it and I have my right not to like it. COPE with that!

  • @Sharmilka i didn't called you a ''idiot'' i just said the music doesn't change even if the kind changes or the singers,''Don't Give Up'' will always mean what it has always meant

  • kate bush is better

  • @TheRFC13 Of course she is. But Sinead is better than Gaga!

  • What a horrible contrast of voices. Both are great singers for their genre but together? It's like mixing red wine with moonshine.

  • Good Greif!

Fantastic song, but this is the manic depressed version. I think Willie really has given up all hope the way he sings it. Maybe that's what he's after here but I don't like it at all. It's depressing, uninspired, lacking all hope.

Peter and Kate's version is healing and uplifting. It's filled with hope and desire which makes me never want to give up. That's what I love about it.

  • kind of funny that Willie has the long hair and Sinead has the shaved head.

  • peter gabriel's song ! ...it's peter's gabriel song

  • ?Another great version!

  • Se te sente Peter.....

  • Super!!!! Love this!!! Thankx so much! Willemina

  • big Willie fan. not as pleasurable to listen to as the more famous one. This one will have to grow on me.

  • No I really like this one, it has a tenderness and poignancy that works (for me anyway) Willie sounds beaten and lost and Sinead sounds sweet, gentle and hopeful. Its subtle and powerful IMO I LOVE it, thanks for posting :-)

  • I would like to here peter Gabriel with baldy.... that would be the dream voice combo for this song... Kate Bush sounds weird... Sinead has a cute voice.. and a cute face.. Plus i hate the pope too... he is a d bag.. Willey just sounds baked to me...

  • @BP3DP Peter has sung this live with Sinead, but he and Sinead have both agreed the greatest artist is Kate Bush. Probably why Peter wanted her on his third album. Keep listening. The 'weird' is just that you're not getting it yet.

  • Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush did it WAY better!

  • @lizzieboredom I agree with u

  • Worst song and performance ever...

  • what the heck???????? how cud this happen?????

  • Sugar and spice that's not so nice!

  • Love it

  • This version doesn't do it for me - listen to the original - untouchable

  • @piedpiperpianos I agree totally!

  • @oxytrebor Moron.

  • @ilkka1983 Agree.

  • Both versions are excellent...but just to digress a bit.... a Satanic black and white cat is chewing through my door and I don't have long before it cuts a way in and rips out my throat.

  • This is an amzing version of an amazing song. Not to take anything away from Gabriel's and Bush's version, though...I love them both equally. Although I hate that they didn't include the part of the bridge that starts "Rest your head...you worry too much"

  • @tommyburgos Yes! I love Sinead, just not as much as Kate, and while I'm a big fan of Peter Gabriel, I don't even "respect Willie as an artist." So, like a fool, I wouldn't listen to this cover for years. Boy, was I blown away. Sinead chooses to use her reliable, if understated, breathy voice. But Willie just BLEW ME AWAY with his masterful reinvention of Peter's part. Even if you find it devoid of hope, you have to admire the intensity with which he conveys it.

  • @tommyburgos Together, they create a rare example of two very different voices perfectly enhancing each other. But, ultimately, you are so right - why no "Rest your head...you worry too much... It's gonna be all right!" ? That was THE best part!!!

  • This is my favorite version. It may not be polished, however it is more relatable. Both because of the vocal talent and the hardships Willie and Sinead have endured in life.

  • 1st X Factor winner Steve Brookstein & his beautiful jazz artist wife Eileen Hunter are releasing a cover of this Dec 13 2010 to raise money & awareness for StreetSmart homeless charities. Check out QRistmas dot come for more info.

  • Must get a voice like willies, 6oz of pot probably do it

  • @yahoopig Pretty sure Willie used more than 6oz to get his!

  • Very nice. Beautiful song.

  • Not great like the Kate Bush/Peter Gabriel version.....but still good. I didn't give up!

  • peter & kates version is still best

  • opens door to a hardened heart

  • Sad:(

  • I forget where I read it or who said it but he said Willie Nelson doesn't sing to you - he talks to you! I love this song, this video and the two highly individualistic artists who sing it here.

  • What a duo, wow.

  • Meh. . I "gave up" halfway through. . . the original blows this out of the water.

  • While I like hearing their unique voices interpret this song, I was that they left out the bridge verse that Kate sang in the original.

  • Bellisimo!!!

  • I really like Willies voice but not in this song...

  • act, willie, act!

    pose, sinead, pose!

  • act, willie, act!

  • This song is more appropriate now than it has ever been. Keep your families strong, and above all remember who you truly are. Be proud, but not arrogant. Stand for what is right regardless of what happens to you, and above all stick together.

  • @SiriosIX Good message.

  • @SiriosIX Agree 100%... Now more than ever. Peace...

  • Wow Willie singing Peter Gabriel..Awesome! Thanks for the upload...

  • we all face sad moments ,and feel that we have failed ,please don't give up

  • dude! that's funny!!

  • Would of love to have heard Johnny Cash sing this........don't know if he ever did.

  • The original version is always better, no matter what the song is. It remains tatooed in our minds.

However I pity the idiots who would lift a finger of criticism against Willie Nelson. He never does anything half assed, and gives every song his own personal touch.

  • powerful lyrics. (peter gabriel and kate bush).

  • Nelson and O'Conner vs Gabriel and Bush; why even try to compare when certainly there is no "winner". Only differences of taste. For the money, Sinead has heart and guts, and guts is enough.

  • simplesmente as vozes mais espetaculares do mundo !!!

  • its in the wrong time signiture. it just doesn't sound right.

  • just pull the fuckin trigger baby

  • Wow... Just wow....

  • I love it!

  • she is fukin hot

  • Its not like the old Peter Gabriel/kate Bush version, but it still is great sound to it. It has a different feel to it- I like it

  • @CJWULF777 your comment gave me lolz. tyvm. hee hee.

  • @luckyhead28 oh yes it does, she is beautiful, with or without her hair.

  • Kate and Peter did it better.

  • HARD - into sinead but willie not the 1, lol

  • such a wonderfull lesson for young folk

  • Sinead's voice matches perfectly with this song while Nelson's doesn't . That's my opinion

  • Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

  • Recorded before the collapse and could not be any more relevant. Cheers to all who refuse to give up!

  • Touching.

  • this song reminds me of my own Willie....i will never forget...

  • simply the best!

  • P!nks and John Legends my faviourite one. just cause i know how much emotion is put into it and you can see it on her face as she nearly crys in it.

  • @PinksAmazing

    completely agree with you

  • Better than Bono and Keys but not as good as the original Gabriel and Bush. Gotta give Nelson and O'Connor some credit, though. Actually, they do quite a respectable cover.

  • ...this was a strange combo...I was about ready to click on the next version of this song until Sinead O'Conner started singng and looked me dead in the eye! After that I was captured. She is the strong supportive spirit for the struggling man in this song and she does more than enough...and why are my eyes so cloudy??

  • A w e s o m e !!!

  • Wow. I never heard this before!!! AMAZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!

  • Thanks from Canada's most Irish City, Saint John, New Brunswick.

  • Sinead is NOT British, She is Irish...and would be deeply offended to be called British

  • Sinead sounds good, cause her voice is similar to Kate Bush. But Willie doesn't sound right, and the song loses a lot of it's emotion behind all the country twang. Good try, but the wrong execution.

  • I really like the way Willie delivers it almost in a speaking manner. Sinead has a beautiful voice as always. Willie's tireless history of assisting poor farmers and his own personal economic collapse make it more meaningful to me.

  • This is nice enough, but it lacks the sincerity of the original and the chemistry between the singers.

  • A nice version. I've never been crazy about Willie's delivery of other people's songs, but he is an amazing songwriter.

  • Wonderful version.....Sinead is so beautiful and always will be.

  • Es muy buena la combinacion =)...ella tiene una cara muy bonita =)...great

  • this great performance proves that being a rebel and sounding honest has nothing to do with age, An older man and a young woman nailed this song magnificently !

  • @thankGodforDavidG

    so right

maybe not all will *get* what you mean, as it's deep...

it's also because they love their roots, and feel the pain of that.

  • @thankGodforDavidG

not a patch on the Gabriel/Bush version

  • @thankGodforDavidG DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!!

  • @thankGodforDavidG You're a moron and your simplistic interpretation of this should have you hung.

  • @thankGodforDavidG Willie is a great American too bad those thugs AKA mafia called the IRS took all that he had.

  • Q voz linda desse cara!

  • This is just fine, and great combination........

  • Better than the origional... .love it!

  • I search but I don't find emotions in this version, altough I like these artists ...

  • Willie smoked a joint

  • what a mix of talent... love this ver thou..

  • Wow. So hard trying to break up with a man. Tough when this is your song.

  • Sinead O'Connor murders the original here, she tries to take off Kate Bush rather than sing her own natural way, just awful. The original could never be beaten, terrible version.

  • @JoshDubovieOfficial

Thats odd because I remember hearing this song years ago and thinking it was the greatest song I had ever heard. Just listened to the Kate Bush version. To me its okay but no where near as good as this version.

  • thank you both of you i have chances and i am going to take them. i was afraid but you have given me courage

  • Well, I have to disagree. What a horrible combination of the two.

  • This is the best song ever!!!! tears!!!!

  • she does this with sting as well......nice,,,,what would she look like with hair though?

  • man what a great song. love it

  • ...so many men; no one needs....

  • OH my god they sound soooo good toghether. I think this may be my fav. song ever now.

  • willie ya pot smoking legend

  • i think i like the original, ALOT more

  • Awful, just awful! Some songs should just be left alone

  • great song - never heard it before - thanks for posting. Amazing when you think you can never hear anything new and moving - and then you do!

  • it is touching

  • it is touching

  • musica linda!!!!!!

  • Willie Nelson, experiencia es belleza...

    Sinnead, belleza y talento...

  • pish

  • I like the song however, I'm not sure about this relationship they are trying to sell me on ... I mean Sinead you need to look at Willie in the eyes ..look like you mean it !!!! at least use the same film reel my Lord!!!

  • Willie Nelson MY HERO. Such a man a great contrasts there will never be another Willie. I LOVE YOU WILLIE...hurray and come to Michigab

  • beautifull

  • very god !!!

  • pointless unless live - both are pasionate beutiful musicians - but theres no point to this contrived piece of SHITE

  • Excellent morceau, merci à Guylaine pour le lien.

    Thanks.

  • Nice!

  • the old man stole her hair???

  • @itnow hahaha you are funny!

  • @itnow ys thats it dipshit

  • @itnow ahahahahaaaaahaha!

  • Don't Give Up

  • Tears are in the corner of my eyes

  • WHY is it that when ever an artest does a cover of this song they Omit parts of the original lyrics? they always do a short version of this song, NEVER the WHOLE complete version, never the less, this was a good cover.

  • An amazing interpretation. I loved the Peter Gabriel original but this surpasses it. I have gooseflesh - and it has a whole lot of personal associations.

  • This pretty much sucked. Willie was good, very effective in his usual minimalist way, but Sinead...she's got a great voice, and she should have done a great job on this, but her performance here just totally blows.

  • 2 of my faves good song too

    thank you

  • WOW - the est versian on the net

  • Sinead O'connor has so amazing voice:) So talented lady :)

  • Wow I would have never put these two together but this is really cool! Thanks for sharing!

  • what an excellent duet. Great combo. Made a good song better. and the original was very good

  • it was a crappola version ... r u deaf ??

  • Lovely!!!! @>-->--

  • This song sounds better when Willie Nelson and Sinead O'Connor sing it.

  • I like this version so much better than any other. Both Willie & Sinead are known for being pro-active with humanitarian issues and I find them to be genuine human beings rather than stars promoting themselves via the suffering of others. This song applies to perfectly to today's economic, immigration-related, etc afflictions in our country. It is very touching, it made cry as I thought of all families facing poverty or deportation. DON'T GIVE UP!

  • wow

    Nvere knew this version

  • Happy Birthday Willie (April 30) an Old Friend -

  • I love this version, as much as I do the Peter Gabriel &Kate Bush version.

  • I'm a sineal oconnor fan but ... nah!! the peter gabriel/kate bush version is better !

  • @mishymelb "to myself"

( the post should have read )... I'm a sinead oconnor fan but the peter gabriel & kate bush version of this song is better, imo.

  • @mishymelb you're shitty.

  • @frickaloo ... am i? wot because u say so?

    : )

  • soo great song !!

    i like !!

  • Reaches into your soul. Brilliant.

  • nelson sound slike he is taking, not singing...still ok I suppose

  • If you don't believe in God after listening to this I'm not sure what to say....both are God's angels.

  • @gbryananderson Thank you for making this song ought to be some religious tripe. It has NOTHING to do with God.

  • @deanriam Whatever...I wish I had the power to do what you think my comments did...my comments are all they are....I still believe Willie Nelson & Sinead O'Connor are God's angels

  • @deanriam i think youre missing the point. this is not a religious anthem, nor is gbryan trying to turn this into an evangelical hymn. some people mean positive things when they refer to god. Me...i don't do god, but i am not offended by gbryan's words, which I think are beautiful, god or no god.

  • Dont know much of Jeff Martin but we have been watching Tina on Oz TV since she was 7 y.o.

  • If you want an excellent version of this song look at Tina Arena and Jeff Martin in a one off version for an Australian TV show. Fantastic to say the least !

  • Goosebimps..

  • Quite an uncommon pairing, but they sound pretty good together. I will always love Sinead. A true artist!

  • no fight left it seems, no one wants you when you lose, don't give up, you still have us...gotta walk outta here, keep my eyes down low, don;t give up, we're proud of who you are...i believe there's a place where we belong...
