  • Is it any Coincidence that these two men of justice are a philosopher nand a thelogian? Just tooting my own horn cause I minored in philosophy, and the professors always tried to sell it as an awesome major because it teaches critical thinking and analytical thinking skills.

  • I was trying to get to the justin bieber interview. How'd I end up here?

  • Absolutely wonderful upload - thank you so much. Two fantastic speakers/thinkers surrounded by real and articulate people. Very inspiring and I feel truly grateful to these people speaking on our behalf.

  • hey this is an honest question, a contribution of 1 million dollars from goldman sachs to me doesn't seem like a lot of money, compared to say what ron paul makes in a single money bomb, i llooked at the campaign contributions from banks to obama in 2008 and it was only something like 3 million, how is this in any way a staggering or worrysome amount? i would expect a much larger contribution to stir up controversy but 1 million seems like nothing, can someone explain this to me?

  • Wow Cornel... don't you make enough money for a hair cut and a dental plan?

  • 22 thousand views? shit thats whats wrong really

  • Don't most of you American's have guns?

I'm not suggesting using them, but, shouldn't people who screw over so many many many people, be just scared for life?

  • Brothers and sisters-the age of austerity is upon us-get used to having nothing.

No jobs, no economy, no food, no health care, no retirement, no future-and it'll be worse for your poor children. The banks will soon own everything.

  • @Vetwolf13 - USA citizens will fight these crooks one way or another.

We must demanding our rights be returned, demand G-S be prosecuted, T. Geitner fired, Bernanke fired, Greenspan must explain -

  • @DancesBESTIES Holy shit, that is what I was thinking!!!

  • Doesn't Hedges have two degrees?

One in economics and the other in theology?

  • shit is that tupac

  • This is awesome. It makes we think of the early colonists meeting in public to list their indictments against the English King. OCCUPY MOVEMENT: start making CITIZENS' ARRESTS of these gangster bankers. Bless you, Mr. Hedges and others, for making this cry for justice.

  • When someone slightly parks in red or when the parking meter expires for 30 seconds you get a ticket and if you don't pay it on time you go to jail. But when bankers commit a global crisis and millions loose their homes they get bonuses. You see how we are the victims of this system. You see how everything depends on us? If we don't demand that these bankers be put in jail no one will. And thats just a small example.org

  • Student loan default is the next bubble to burst, probably being traded as overrated, bet against derivatives as we speak.

  • Lmao@bobbygnossis. I thought he looked like him.

  • 335 like, 3 dislike = 99%!

  • I don't know of a bigger idiot than Cornell West. Once during a debate with William F. Buckley, Buckley called him sophomoric. At the time, I'd never heard the word before. But after looking it up, all I could do was smile. The word means brash and overconfident, yet immature and ill-informed. As was the case on many occasions, WFB captured the full sense in describing someone with one word.

  • Is that cookie monster in the far left corner of the screen? I didn't know he was there.

  • They need to protest the corrupt universities and colleges next.

  • 2pac lives.

  • @bobbygnosis hell yeah, 2pac is ALIVE

  • USA = Orwellian state. War is Peace. Peace is War. Corporations are People. People are Corporations.

  • Manufacturing must return 1st, I have see the loss of our great factories ,the ponzi scheme that is the FED!!,The total corruption of our political system, corporations and financial structure .The lie that is free trade.Socialism which is all subsidies Propaganda portrayed as news, controlled by the elite. Our military used as a corporate global police force. If this is not stopped we shall be enslaved by the globalist. I ask for nothing from this system, why does it steal from me!! March on !

  • What is the purpose of a Central Bank ?

The clue is in the word ‘central’, it is for centrally planning the economy so anyone who says we have a free market is flat out wrong.

I look forward to the transfer of wealth from holders of paper to holders of gold/silver when the fiat paper dollar dies.

  • Associations between Wall Street international bankers and the rise of both Hitler and Naziism in Germany and Lenin and Bolshevikism in Ruusia.

Check out reformed-theology (dot) org (slash) html (slash) books (slash) wall_street (slash) chapter_12.htm

The same guys profited from bankrolling both sides of the European theatre of World War 2 – that is really, really special.

  • Who owns the non-Federal non-Reserve Banks ? As of July 26th, 1983, some of the non-Federal non-Reserve Bank of New York shareholdings (7m or 66%) were Bankers Trust Company 438,831 Bank of New York 141,482 Chase Manhattan Bank 1,011,862 Chemical Bank 54,962 Citibank 1,090,813 European American Bank & Trust 127,800 J. Henry Schroder Bank & Trust 37,943 Manufacturers Hanover 509,852 Morgan Guaranty Trust 655,433
  • The non-Federal non-Reserve welcomes you to your destitution after 100 years of paying out an annual dividend of 6% to their mega-bank owners while having a .gov website. When you consider that Americans, both ‘democratic/labour’ and ‘republican/conservative’, before 1913 were never subject to this transfer of their wealth to the mega-banks you have to ask yourself how much less poor would the American general public be today without it and how much less warfare the world would have been spared.

  • w w w (dot) federalreserve (dot) gov - has the gov suffix when in fact it has nothing to do with government.

Only a few years ago people would be labelled ‘conspiracy theorists’ for pointing out the private ownership of the non-Federal non-Reserve.

So how much has been paid to the private stockholders these past 98 years you might ask ?

Absolutely no idea because us debt slaves are not supposed to know who owns the stock of the non-Federal non-Reserve or how much stock there actually is.

  • End the non-Federal non-Reserve and all the other privately owned central banks around the world. JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley are big shareholders in the non-Federal non-Reserve but the general public will never be offered a share. Their website in section 7 states that stockholders receive an annual dividend of 6% as a profit for providing a paper currency. Teach yourself about the Austrian school of economics and you will understand we have centrally planned economies not free market.

  • “91 year old woman was a victim of mortgage fraud … steal citizens documents, which are public documents, place their own names on them, place some other information on them and the folks who own their own property end up with a loan against them or some other fraudulent transaction.”

THESE FRAUDSTERS ARE EVIL SCUM AND THE LAW HAS NOT PUNISHED THEM SO YOU’RE DAMN STRAIGHT THAT THERE ARE MASSES OF PEOPLE UP IN ARMS.

  • If people leave politics to politicians then this Goldman Sachs is the bulls**t you get.

  • the 99% movement is only concerned with economy first. Not cultural or social disenfranchisement. What about the jail system? What about the American indians fight against poverty, rights to live their lives like they want, and racism? What do minorities gain from these 99% economy first movements. They will get the rich to trickle down money, to provide shitty jobs to the poor, is that it? Nothing else will change. I think Dr. West Should have continued his own fight.

  • Ain't no American shouldn't listen to this one. Despite every bought, paid for, and owned media parasite, the truth is going to get out.

  • Another solution is the Amish way... Don't pay taxes for services that you don't receive and build a community that provides such services for its members.

  • PS-Chris Hedges is a voice for the whole and that is why the sum (1%) can't stand him. The man has a mind and speaks it.

  • Love how I can't get classes to graduate and the US can fund "democracy" in other countries through military occupation and might. BULLSHIT AMERICA- WAKE THE F UP.

  • What was that crap?

  • Hmmm... It appears that 1% of viewers "dislike" this video.

  • @ChurlsBeardSmug LMAO - I wonder what 1% of the people that is.

  • @ChurlsBeardSmug

    HALARIOUS!

  • where's the guillotine?

  • Hey, free market libertarians, what is the free market mechanism to end commodities speculation?

  • Go guys ...truth to power ,a revolutionary act !

  • @GOPkicksbutt

"The claims that the ultrarich 1% make for themselves–that they are possessed of unique intelligence or creativity or drive–are examples of the self-attribution fallacy. Many of those who are rich today got there because they were able to capture certain jobs. This capture owes less to talent and intelligence than to a combination of the ruthless exploitation of others and accidents of birth."

    George Monbiot

The 1% are the very best destroyers of wealth the world has ever seen

  • video has now been closed captioned.

  • Chris Hedges is one of my favorite writers, but I disagree with him on " we are not meant to take power, but to oppose it (when it doesn't work)". The problem with this is that the state now controlled and owned by the corporations, Goldman Sachs and Wall Street don't give a damn about the people. We need a new system , the redesign of our paradigm, otherwise we're doomed.

  • @Pertemba40 We don't "take power," we embody it. We don't give it away.

  • @glocksout But we HAVE given it away. Anyway, that's why I don't agree w/ Chris, he's still in that "let's hope the elites do they're supposed to do with us the people" kind of mentality. Fact is we the people need to take our power back. But your right theoretically, "We don't "take power," we embody it. We don't give it away."

  • Beautifully said, by both, and all.

    peace ~

  • DEMAND-Your GovtS create money(just like banks DO)and lend it to people+ business BUT at ZERO% interest! Repayments(small and spread over MANY years)are added to taxation to fund health, education, infrastructure etc(You know-a CIVILISED 21st century society)NOT syphoned off into the pocket of the 1% who DIGITALLY transfer it abroad for 5mins,suck $£s etc from THEIR 99% and MOVE ON.The 1% are NOT patriotic.(Banner?Interest Free Money! Interested?WHO Wouldn't Be?) $£s?-JUST inventions. So RE-invent

  • "Karl Marx was right." - Chris Hedges

    yep, i'm done here

  • Return to the RULE OF LAW. Give us back our rights. Investigate the crooked judges!

  • Burn Goldman Sachs to the ground. If anyone truly cares, they will take "direct" action against these criminal scourge.

  • THIS IS GREAT

  • Chris that was powerful. Dr. you are poetic in your speech that chills us to the bone, and the men and woman in that spoke the truth from the experience of their suffering. Sorry Chase,Goldman,Bank of America, you will have to pay one day my friend and PAY YOU WILL. We the people are coming back. Thank you.

  • I say "Let the middle class shrink" the only reason American's have had it so good is because they have been sucking the governments tit for 60 years. Look at China-there's no middle class there and yet they have become the super power of the planet. They have surpassed the US by hard work, not government handouts. I will work with my brothers Cantor, Boehner, and Paul Ryan to end all handout programs (social security, medicare) and encourage tax breaks for job creators. God bless GOP

  • @GOPkicksbutt are you being sarcastic? why do you call for an end to the smallest crumbs of handouts to individual people in need while completely ignoring the completely unnecessary handouts to the greediest?

it makes absolutely no sense. want to slash something? go after the biggest chunks, first. want to slash gov't spending? shrink the pentagon. go after the corporate handouts first.

  • @GOPkicksbutt Go back and do a little research about China. 1) There is a middle class as well as an upper class. 2) They have risen to where they are as a global power by fraudulent means (devaluation of currency, patent infringements, licensing piracy, etc.) 3) The government pays their "corporations" state funds to allow them to grow overseas, 4) go get a regular job in China in a factory, bet you will be back here pretty soon, $10.00 - $15.00 a week isn't much to write home about.

  • I LOVE Dr. West!!!!

  • Thank you for this.

  • Re Hedges' preamble: Goldman Sachs couldn't give staggering bonuses; wealth couldn't be stolen on such a scale; commodities wouldn't have prices; commodities wouldn't be commodities; life would not be precarious for millions of people; security laws, fraud, political theater, and many other constructs would no longer exist; unemployment would not exist; insurance firms like AIG wouldn't exist; GS would no longer exist, and the corporate state would no longer exist if we stopped using money.

  • @aagreenbeaner If we stopped using money? I thought this was a fantastic video but I didn't realize he said that. What do we do without money.... so do we have identity numbers allowing us to buy and sell?? that sounds a bit 666y to me.

  • @onyxescence He didn't, I did. Money is an arbitrary, unnecessary layer of exchange the use of which results in far more exploitation of people and destruction of life than it does equitable benefits to those that use it. Corruption within the economic system is an inevitable function of the incentives inherent in the use of money. The alternative is to live, create, grow, relate, and share in diverse ways as each community chooses. It's just a different social contract. Think about it.

  • I much prefer Hedges cold hard facts over Wests preachy buzzwords

  • THANK YOU WHAT A GREAT WATCH ... INFORMATIVE/EDUCATING ... EVERYBODY THE 99.8% SHOULD TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH THYIS DONE AT OCCUPY WALL STREET NYC A MUST SEE !!!!!

  • Chris Hedges. Marry me.

  • Chris Hedges is one of my few heros. Much love.

  • What is all that crap in the background about the CIA?

anyway, thanks for posting. Chris' comments were incredible.

  • @antiquitas82

some crazy guy (who sometimes hangs around the park with a china flag on his shoulder) was ranting "wbai cia" and accusing wbai of bringing down the khadaffi regime, wbai was broadcasting this on the air.

Incidentally, dr west spoke the good and bad in every movement (47:00)

"That’s why they talk about us. That’s why they try and accent the worse of who we are when we know we are human beings; which means we have the best and the worse, but we accent the best of who we are. "

  • Where can I get a transcription of this?

  • @LAMvblog

chris hedge's opening statement was posted here

    nationofchange =dot= org /chris-hedges-speech-front-goldman-sachs-leads-arrest-1320422765

as for the rest.... i'm working on a transcript, and close captioning thought not going to be anytime soon..

  • @LAMvblog I'm Not Sure it lasted about 1 1/2 hours.

  • Respond to this video... channel 7 had a reporter out in the street - reporting about arrest and arraignments while this was going on and mentioned nothing about the mock trial.

  • Grab a sign or get out of the way.

  • @randee51 In SA, they say "Shosholoza"

  • lets have someone edit this down to an American attention span... under 3 minutes... with links to the raw footage.... we need this message spread... lets concentrate it and share...

  • Why do the pro-oligarch part of the 99% believe the ppl who protest the biggest bank heist of their tax dollars ever are just lazy and don't want to work hard?? Ppl want to be able to LIVE off their earnings, and I don't mean living like a surf on bread and water..

  • @nenaluvv

"like a surf on bread and water.."

Like a bread surf board :)

  • @Cha4k That too! lol

  • @Cha4k Too bad I made it through grad school without knowing how to spell serf lol

  • Imagine this: " Who's the bourguois white guy constantly referencing his own glamorous experiences in Eastern Europe. C'mon... once again: FOCUS

  • C'mon guys... you need to appeal to the ill-informed, white masses in the middle states in order to gain real momentum. No offense, but a beanie over dreads and headphones on a guy without the spine to speak loudly and clearly is not going to cut it. A little more marketing savvy is necessary. For you blacks: I'm with you. But, again, c'mon. Stop with the vernacular. Stop with the head-waggle.

Cornel: why single out 'certain sections of The City'... DUDE... it's giant areas of the COUNTRY

  • @tak0yak1 fuck you why dont you stop telling people what to say and how to wear their fucking hair.

go watch fashion police go watch E news just fuck off

  • Cue a soldier saying that working hard and not whining is the way.

  • so, honest question: how can we fund so many wars and give so much money to the already rich, but we cannot provide basic health care to our citizens? how does that work?

  • Thank you so much for uploading this.

  • Unbelievable. GS makes me sick

  • Excellent video!

  • Throw down the chains of oppression that bind you

With the air of freedom the flame grows bright

We are the strong, the youth united

We are one, we are children of the light

Thank you for speaking the voice of truth while the mainstream corrupt corporate media spread disinformation and propaganda so as to protect the elite corporate organized crime syndicates who have hijacked our government, our politicians, our economy and our country .

  • Really wanted to see this, thanks for uploading.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for shooting and uploading this great video, for those of us who couldn't be there in person.
