It's been almost 2 years since we lost Richard. I truly miss him and his "Dusties". I had lunch at Wallaces with Richard about two months before he passed. I asked him, "What does stay awhile with me" means to you? Is it a day, a month a year or a lifetime? He said: "A life time". He gave us a life time of great memories. Thank you my friend, we'll always love you. Rest In Peace
@JakeCP With the late great Richard Pegue!!!!!! Oh yeah,it was The Best Music of Your Life!!!! Thanx for the comment and I just noticed that I'm signed in under my backup channel "Dustyologist"
I also grew up on Chicago's West Side, I recall this was Mr. Pegue's sign off song too. So many memories listening to his show late at night in the 80's and 90's. I never knew who sang this song.
Thank you soooooooo much for posting this. I bought this album when it came out and years my kids destroyed it while playing. The album is exquisite!!! Thank you again. You've made me smile from ear to ear and sing along very loudly remembering every single word!!
I think this cut actually came out in 1975. Its listed as No. 20 on the "Jet" Soul Brothers top 20 in the August 28, 1975 issue. Through "Google's book feature" you can see/read all the issues of Jet (page by page) from back in the day.
@MrKCarrere It all depends on which pressing you are referring to since there are SEVERAL...The artwork depicted on this video does not reflect the LP that I have.(I just copied some random artwork from the internet),I have "THE ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSING" of the LP which was for promotion only NOT FOR SALE released on Sussex Records(SXBS-7009) in 1971...Google Sussex Records and they should have a listing of ALL Lp's released on the label before the IRS closed their doors for taxes in 1975!!!!
yes he did!!!! i'm a born and bred southside chicagoan who grew up listening to richard pegue and his radio show "the best music of your life"! sharon ridley was a homegrown chicago talent who didn't get the recognition she deserved...omg this song sends shivers through me every time i hear it! the so-called singers of today should have a TENTH of the talent sharon ridley has! it's one of r&b's great tragedies that there's so little information about her. just a travesty.
