  • Man Wish I found these videos earlier in the evening your cutting into my sleep time!!

  • that was really great, thanks man.

  • Nice. I liked it!

  • wow...

    you proficient in mandarin ?

  • Nice Kick my friend. That was an awesome follow up to that move.

  • was he trying?

  • What airport is that?

  • Hmm, I can see you are in the transition here. With good potential and commitment to learning the secrets which makes you a true student regardless which is a great thing. . My friendly advise would be to pay attention to the theory of the 9 palaces return to one, which is one of the first principals to be aquired in bagua practice and training. This will help you significantly improve your power and help you to feel it truth and potential. What you are doing will take some time to find truth.

  • @TOUNBEISYUU

    沒錯!!

    在對方都不動,或是在打徒弟時,中國武術最有用!

  • Impressive demo. But will it work against strong strikers and grapplers? The striker here is extremely slow, uncoordinated and has zero experience.

  • @iApna

i'm of a diff school/branch, never met the guy, so I can't answer for this guy, but realize this is a demo without 100% commitment. So you can't judge the striker's skills. I go as far to say, you can't judge skill of anyone without fighting/sparing them.

The techniques of all styles work as good as you can make them work. Fighting styles you are unfamilar with is always difficult.

  • 你打的超棒,

    非常的優美,

    我很喜歡喔!

    希望能再看到你新的作品,

    加油!

  • Nicely done. Do you have any sparring footage?

  • Holy cow! That's impressive!

How many years did it take to reach this level of skill?

  • Nice moves. It is a shame that the basics of body mechanics aren't there. All muscular force and no body connection equal no real power. My recommendation is to work hard on the basics and develop a strong structure.

  • @fox797 班門弄斧

  • @fox797 u prob just aren't familiar with Gao Ba Gua.

  • @fox797

Really? I know nothin of Bagua compared to a practioner/ serious fan, but this struck me as one of the better examples of Bagua (The moves used look more feasible & are executed faster than in other vids I have seen) I can u recommend an example that has realistic demonstrations? Applications/

sparring that shows actual commited attacks & effective responses, no magic tho pls.

I'm sure this guy is far from perfect but ur comment smacks of being either very knowledgable or very ignorant

  • @Donkyfishy

I have some vids of me fighting/sparring in my channel, though I used more zhaquan than bagua. Have one in the making which I have been lazy to actually edit.

You can look up 100days of bagua, which my instructor put up. there's a bit of cheng style choreographed sparring in 1 vid, where I was actually trying to hit him(not 100% power but style hitting distance).

You'll have to actually train to understand things though.

  • @fox797 i'm pretty sure that this person has a lot more strength than he is showing in this demonstration. i mean he doesn't want his demo partner to get hurt, right?

  • I truly wish there was a way to begin studying this martial art.. I live in Kentucky, and we really don't have any martial arts schools anywhere close to where I live. You inspire to me to learn it, though it dosen't seem like it can be done at this point in my life =(

  • nice ;-) I love Yin shi Bagua Zhang ........

  • 這位黑人八卦掌打得很好~!不知師承何處??

  • @TOUNBEISYUU 我在國父紀念管 我師父是吳國政

  • @warfox777

    你就是孔有有吧?我們台灣的新聞有報!

  • Hey great technique. Really nice video, and a good example of traditional Bagua applications.

  • Hey, beautiful Ba Gua! One question: is this video shot in Zhong Xiao Fu Xing station? If it is, that's totally crazy because that exact corner is where I study Xing Yi on Saturdays! Great video, you have clearly worked hard on your art!

  • Do you have a school?

  • nice applications

  • Please keep sharing your skills with us, your videos are truly inspiring :)

Thanks a lot, and good luck on your journey with this amazing martial art.

  • I lIKE YOU. YES YOUR NICE

  • Are there tipps you can give about searching for a proper bagua teacher?

I just train jujutsu and i dont know much about other styles, so i want to be shure.

  • @dunkelweg Finding a bagua master isn't easy. Thats why I had to come out here to Taiwan. But a good teacher should know all of the key basics. One is that every movement comes from the feet. The legs move the body and the body moves the hands. So every hand technique must start with a step. There for there is a lot of footwork training in any good school of Bagua. good luck on your search.

  • hey i train german jujutsu and i am interested in your style now.

Is there something i should consider when i search for a kung fu school. Because aside from my style i know very little about other martial arts

  • @dunkelweg There are a lot of different kung fu schools but a good school is much like finding a good woman. When you know you know. Just keep your eye out.

  • Not calling you a lair. But what the flip is German Jujitsu??? Jujitsu is Japanese... >.>

  • @GuamKomudo well to put it simple japanese marines soldiers who were trained in traditional jujutsu and who were based in germany started to train german students.

this students mixed it up with other martial arts for example escrima or muay thai and thaught their personal jujutsu style to their own students.

When it getting very complicated to find a basic line between the schools, jujutsu masters tried to find one basic line betwwen the schools. result = german jujutsu

  • So mixing Japanese martial arts with Filipino arts and Thai arts makes it German??? =P

I like how that makes no sense... But whatever, just a name I guess. Feels like they're taking credit for it =P But whatever =P

  • @GuamKomudo yeah maybe it doesnt make that much sense. the "german" part is just a reference to the place where it was created and is participated the most.

But escrima and muay thai were just the most common example for fusion :).

There although exist brazilian jujutsu, that is another example for a new jutsu style :D

  • excellent!!!!!

  • Aw man where in NYC can I learn this?

  • @TheTVs I haven't been out to new york just yet but I am sure there has got to be some teachers out there. I believe blacktaoist is in new york. You might want to check him out.

  • Nice work brother. Your flow is really cool and inspiring. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • Very fluid and effortless, yet effective! Thanks for sharing!

  • Great work!

  • Ho Gung Fu!

  • This is really cool and you are a student of which bagua master? Master Ng from Taiwan? You are really good!

  • @ozzielam My master is Wu Guo Zhung in Taiwan. Thank you.

  • This is very good stuff! This will help improve my wing chun by being able to adapt to different people I sparr and in tournaments.RIGHT ON MY KUNG-FU BROTHER!

  • Kudos from germany! Love to see someone who puts an internal martial art to real applications. I love to watch yout vids on youtube. Regrettably theres no bagua near my hometown (Duesseldorf) as far as I know. I would love to train it in addition to my Yang Tai Chi and Wing Chun. But at least trough yout vids I get a few nasty ideas! Besides: Good blog and web page you own!

  • Very cool, thanks for sharing!

  • I like the cut of your jib buddy. That is some fine looking Kung Fu you got.

  • I would love to meet you in person if I ever get back to Taiwan again.

  • Its nice to see someone using this style well, many respects.

  • very nice fluid and precise. I used to practice with people that have little control and feel lions.

Also i like how you turn around and are in contact again very quickly.

  • how can I find a place to learn this?

  • Where are you located? Maybe I can help.

  • I'm in Illinois about an hour or so away from chicago

  • Well stay on my blog, I am making a map. It will take sometime but I will find who is in your area.

  • sounds good thanks man!

  • I like this style, very fluid and looks effective. Good job.

  • Some of the better bagua fluidity and applications I've seen.. not to mention vs. someone "relatively" free fighting.

Might I ask who your teacher was?

  • My master is Wu Guo Zheng in Taiwan. Been training with him for some time now. Thanks for the compliment.

  • nice nice nice

  • Very nice, indeed.

  • Very good gongfu!

    Best wishes from Berlin

    Mario

  • Hi there, im a kokusai ju-jitsu black belt...really friend, congrats for your level.

You have very fluid movements, but still strong hits and body...i appriciate that.

Some of the counters you used here resemble mine :)

I like this style, i think that i'll try to learn something after gaining 2nd dan in my art

  • Thanks for the comment friend. Good luck in your training as well.

  • Yeah! That's how to work it.

  • now thats bagua!!

  • I'm finding I like this style quite a bit. You have good form from my pov man. *bows* 12 year practioner of Chinese martial arts just never the pleasure of Baqua outside of sparring it.

  • I love Bagua. Its like liquid silk.

  • nice mall security

  • Nice clip bro.

  • Now that IS Bagua....

    Fuckin' A!

  • liquidsmooth, I think this set of applications is the best one yet.

  • I practice tai chi, but I think all that circling in ba gua is very cool.

  • You are like me :) If I kept practicing, someone that sees the value in the old, and how to apply it to today's modern time. Someone who goes beyond ritual and integrates it into a natural skillset. good job.

  • Great vid! Have you ever used bagua in a real fight?

  • I have used it in a few "situations." For myself there is nothing more natural.

  • Hey man, who was your teacher?

Pretty impressive stuff from such a young dude, you don't see many bagua fighters who use all parts of the body for combat (as it should be done).

  • love the matrix neo thing at the end lol- im lookin for some good bagua teachers here in VA

  • Look for George Woods Maybe

  • Imbrd,

You have one of the best Bagua fighters in the world in Virginia.

Check out Park, Bok Nam. Here's the info from his book:

    Pa Kua Kung Fu School

    11101 Midlothian Turnpike

    Richmond, VA 23236

    (804) 794-8384

  • your movements are fluid and look natural. probably the best i've seen so far

  • Congratulations warfox777. YOU are pretty dope! from london UK :-)

  • very nice , smooth ass kicking

    do you come to nyc?

  • I will soon, I am just getting settled in America first. When I do I will let you know

  • yeah tell me when you start teaching in nyc too!

  • what part of america are you coming to?

because if you're planning on teaching your technique then i'm interested in learning

  • Pretty darn cool. Great skill !!!!

  • I'vebeen taking bagua for a year and Im loving it

  • how long did it take u to master the style? it seems awesome.

  • I have been doing martial arts for 25 years and bagua for about 5. I wouldn 't say Ive mastered it, but yeah its pretty dope.

  • I've been taking it for a year and its the real deal

  • Very nice, very clear! I especially love the little shoulder ripple at :37. Great vid.

  • nice. A pleasure to watch.

  • That's what I'm talkin' bout!!!

  • very nice!

but killgm's comment is the turth

    "八卦的精华部分在于步伐"

    表演者如果能夠做到"纏"就更好了

  • Wow. That was amazing? Where is your school?

  • I was in Taiwan but will be opening a school in Seattle soon

  • Oh really? Is there anyway to come train with you? im based in seattle too. There's a bagua teacher here by the name of Zhang Jie. Have you heard of him?

  • that's a bad mofo.

    techniques flowed like hot water...

  • Very good video. Go Obama. lol

  • 不错,但是八卦的精华部分在于步伐,多研究吧。

  • 給一般人看的太複雜沒辦法消化. 但是謝謝你的意見我們武林的人都要天天研究

  • Oh crap This guy's blackanese. A hybrid of chinese and african american!!!! RUN!!!! i feel you though i am too, but i'm japanese. lol XP

  • That....That...That was awsome....warren that was some great bagua application...i practice fma and am just getting into bagua and the way you look it seems that you definitely have the principles of your system down so well that you now can feel yourself flow from one move to another without having to think...that was some great stuff...you said you are trying to create a network system I would love to be a part of it. Again great work and accomplishment!

  • that was amazing

  • Your right that is real Ba gua. Your segments were alot more flashier than the ones that I have from Master Rick Pickens. Our is less controling as yours and it is pretty much if we don't kill you you are crippled. i am starting to incorperate more joint manipulation in what we do. But still that was very effective and alot closer to what ba gua was desighned to be than most others out there. You had a great teacher someone who stayed true to what the art is for.

  • Thank you. Yes I have been blessed with a great teacher.

  • Damn, that is some beautiful fluid action there. I'm suprised by how much you use your elbows, it works so strongly.

  • I used to think bagua was always waiting for your opponent to strike and reacting to it, but from what I can see here by sticking to your opponent you can feel what they're doing next and counter it without them even moving more than an inch or two.

    Now that's just plain awesomeness.

If only there was a Martial Arts class nearby that taught internal styles...

  • Where do you live at? Working on a network system hope it helps.

  • Wow, that was actually ok. Even though it looks prearranged, the way you move is more realistic than a lot of the other videos out there.

  • first of all thanks for all the great videos!is there a special gao bagua technique in order to encounter a swing punch?

  • Yeah one of the techniques is called Li. Maybe later I will put up a video for the swing punch.

  • Very Nice.

  • this man is vicious with the gao bagua! Keep it coming, Bro.!

  • This one is good, better used those w/ circle

  • I noticed watching your movements that i have made similar ones messing around with friends, i know more of wang shujin's style of bagua but when the going went tuff and i moved in ways that felt natural instead of tried to do something i learned i used some similar moves, does that mean i would be more suited for gao style? or is it coincidence? please note that i'm beginner at best when it comes to bagua

  • I believe bagua no matter what the style is can be considered graduate school for martial artist. Whatever you have learned or studied before will naturally help you form your style. Of course the only wat to know if it really fits you is to actually try it out yourself. What do you study?

  • I've studied bits and pieces from different bagua styles mostly wang shujin though. Everything i know has come from youtube, i've learned some of the animals too like pheonix, snake and lion, only the basics though, if that

  • That's really cool. Was it unrehearsed? Even if it was, incredible reactivity, warfox777. I totally love this vid! But the guy's movement was pretty big and predictable. I wish you'd post some free sparring. Please, please, post some! With gloves, some protectors, and no piercing is fine. I'm OK if it's gonna look like Muay Thai or Karate-Judo-mix as long as I could see some essence of bagua applications in take-downs.

  • No this isn't rehearsed but it is like one step practice. I will put up some sparring drills when I get the time but ideally if your doing bagua right it shouldn't look like Karate or muay thai at all. I will say though that sparring is useful for teaching timing and footwork but not so good for developing speed or power. Thanks for the comment

  • Excellent stuff here Warren! I love seeing real-time, practical apps. Too often people's forms are pretty, but they fall apart come combat time. Your explanations are clear, which is always a plus. Thank you for these vids. By the way, have you checked out Sifu Rudy Curry Jr. and Blacktaoist's videos? I love BT's Bagua vids along with yours. I think you and BT are some of the few people here who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to internal kung fu.

  • So can every gao baguist learn exactly this techniques and apply to combat or is it only a special style you are teaching (and being teached)?

  • Well all of the techniques I use in this video are directly taken from the Post heaven linear forms. Ideally every Gao baguist should be able to do the same combat apps. I would say that my instructor is rare for being one of the last Gao bagua teachers that has the complete system in tact where a lot of other teachers use xing yi or tai chi to supplement the missing movements. Regardless of what you learn it is important to train it against someone over and over to understand the full usage.

  • hallo warfox777

I am new to martial arts and i like to ask a few question.

The fighting applications in your clip are straight so I was wondering are these from gao bagua or you mixed other martial arts into it?

Isn't bagua in circle walking and you would have to circle the opponent around ?

Because I prefer straight against circular movements and this was very cool what you were doing i would love to learn it.

  • The circle is generally used as developing power not so much for fighting in the Gao system but personally I have found that practicing the techniques from the circle make you much more evasive. This video is just focesed on the technique without the circle.

  • Great bagua. I admire your apps and also flavor. Good skill!

  • well done

  • sweet moves i want to start Bagua as well.

    I am currently studying Baji.

  • I love Baji too. The two person forms are actually very simular to bagua. There are a lot of cross overs between the two. If you dig deep enough into baji you'll find bagua. You dig deep enough into bagua youll find baji.

  • Fantastic clip.

  • Lovely bagua demo. Bagua is a beautiful thing and your doing it proud.

  • Being a wing chun man I use my contact reflexes from years of sticky hands practice.

Do you use energy drills that help to apply techniqes based on feeling?

  • Absolutely. In addition to practicing the techniques individually there is no way to develop real reactions without sensitivity training. We have a form of push hands we use for stablity and balance and also a form of "Pull hands" which develops the ability to grab more smoothly. Also as wing chun all of the techniques need to be practiced in real time against a partner. No matter what style you practice it is impossible to develop real combat ability without a partner.

  • My teacher told me to check you out on youtube. He is a student of Liu Jingru. Do you no Liu jingru? my teacher said you move very well. And I am very impressed with that clip. This is how i believe bagua should be aplied. It looks a little bit like my Kempo. No not the hard style that looks like karate.my kempo is different.we learn to undertanding body mechanics and its 8 folds.Thats why when i started learning bagua it was not so uncomfortable. But its still complex to learn. U Awesome man!

  • Liu Jingru? Can you right the Chinese for me. Thank you very much for the comment.

  • I dont know chinese. Just google him as it s spelled

  • Yes he is great, your very fortunate to be able to train with him. Its a good idea to incorporate the kemp to enhance the feel of movements for yourself. Keep it up

  • I have watch many bagua people doing applications, but none have come close to your skill. its great to see some one that can use the art in real time. keep up the good work God bless

  • Thank you very much

  • I like your material fam.

  • I really like these apps. Keep doing you. Stay on point.

    Peace

    BMonk

  • thanks bro preciate that

  • the bagua looks more like taiji techniques & appears not as vicious as the yin style

  • Of course there are crosses between taiji and bagua, but I chose not to put vicious movements on youtube. It would be irresponsible.

  • werd werd ic ic...lol...yea son, i was wondering why. where is gao style from

  • This style in Taiwan is called "soft body repeating hands" Started with Dong Hai Chuan then passed to Cheng Ting Hua, Then Gao Yi Sheng, then to Wu Jin Yuan (My masters father), then to Wu Guo Zheng (My master) Its been taught mostly only to military but recently I have been given permission to open it to the public.

  • That's slick dawg! The editing is also getting a lot better, keep it up!

  • Love the kick and the part where you lock up his arms. GOOD STUFF! Everytime I watch it it gets better.

  • Real smooth,good ba gua.
