Game Over endings aren't canon. I'm pretty sure of it. Heck, there are canon scenarios in the Fire Emblem series that involves either characters that can be KILLED in prequels, or children of such.

So I wouldn't be surprised execution would happen to them.

As a youngster, this game over screen used to scare me. I always hated dying on the game because i didn't want to see the Game Over screen, nor did i want to hear that sad music either. I used to imagine what if K. Rool aka the boss on this game was looking thru the cell door at Diddy and Dixie with a evil sinister look on his face. I would have freaked out as a youngster if that was like that.

I think they would. GOs aren't canon, DK64 proves that, because K. Rool fires off the Blast-O-Matic there--and I believe it succeeds in blowing up DK Island, and probably blows up Crocodile Isle with it from backlash. This naturally would prevent any of the Kongs from surviving.
