  • I have been around long enough to know it takes an "asshole" to know an "asshole" so use your words with caution, or not, free country. Semper fi!

  • i like the looks of this knife but i'd love to see it a tiny bit bigger .. 4" blade for the matter ...

  • Mike Janich scares me...and he's a balding guy with glasses...LOL

Much respect Mike, you're an expert!

  • manliest hand shake :))) 0:19 :D I WILL GET THIS KNIFE!!!

  • everytime i see him in videos, Janich frighten me in fact. he is your office collegue who eat protein and spend his time bodybuilding facing a mirror and who just dream to be agressed in the street to have a good arguable occasion to kill someone with a 3 inch blade...

    nice knife, thanks to Spyderco

  • Janich is straight legit with that NAvajo, nice hands

  • Im am thinking about buying this knife and can't find many customer reviews so if anyone can tell me how amazing it is and how well constructed it is i would be very happy. Only if it actually is those things.

  • @phillym98 insane knife!!!! well weighted and way usable....i just got it and have to say if you are a fan of the ak-47 knife this blows it away!!!!!!!

  • Ethnic plastic.

  • I dont like Cold Steel knives but can someone say "Espada"!

  • Regardless of the reviewers the knife is the point. I think I really like this blade. It sounds like an early (?) 2011 release.

Good work Spyderco for thinking outside the box.

  • @Herne0011 I wish; I just pre-ordered one two days ago. I contacted Spyderco, and they said release date will likely be in the latter half of 2011; I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG.

  • @RebelWrestler45

Thanks for the update Rebel :D. It saddens me that the release is roughly set for the second half of 2011 - but I have heard Spyderco are very conservative on their release dates. So it might come out earlier but at least this information you have given frees me up to grab the new Fluted Titanium Military when it is released (hoping first half of 11 for that). I hope you can post back your thoughts on the Navaja when you get it!

    Regards,

    H

  • @Herne0011 Yeah, Spyderco doesn't like to get their clientele's hopes up for no reason; but I was really expecting it within the next couple months; I don't want to wait 'til summer. I just ordered a civilian and a big Persian 2; but the navaja was the crown jewel.

  • @RebelWrestler45

Ha we have similar tastes in Spyderco it seems. I opted out of the Civilian and went for the Superhawk instread. A beast of a Hawkbill. I have been eyeing off the Persian 2 also - but I just dropped a ton of cash on Extrema Ratio, Houge and Benchmade so my wifes goodwill is being stretched hard :D. I think I am going to concentrate on Ed's Spyderco models from here in - I really dig his work. Best of luck with your purchases.

    Cheers,

    H

  • @Herne0011 Speaking of Ed's Spyderco models, I just picked up a Barong as well off off ebay; only one I could find at a half decent price. I'll be shadowing the UPS guy over the next few days.

  • @RebelWrestler45

DAMNIT - I would LOVE a Barong - PM me back and let me know what you think of it when it arrives. Those things sell for a fortune :).

  • @Herne0011 Just got the Persian 2 in today; lockup is bank vault solid, blade came hair popping sharp, but the action is not smooth, and the blade doesn't deploy fast; hopefully with some ballistol and a little wear it will loosen up. The grip is smaller than I thought it would be, and the g10 scales aren't radiused like the civvie, so while the grip profile is ergonomic, it isn't particularly that comfortable. I love the blade profile of the persian 2, did some food prep with it, nasty belly.

  • @RebelWrestler45

Thanks for the heads up Rebel. I really think you would be good at doing forum reviews on blades. I am still trying to convince my other half to let me hit up the Persian 2. I am a Ballistol fan also and it even made my 10 year old catcherman smooth opening again. The only problem was that I was hoping they would go for S30V instead of VG 10 which has become minimum standard IMO. Oh yeah check your messages on your account I linked u to a good forum you might like.

  • @Herne0011 Already signed up at urbanconquest boss, my screen name is Hammerlock. I usually don't like to do a 'first impressions' review; so I'll wait until I skin an animal or two with the persian 2, and edc it for a while. I am a big fan of VG-10, and though I am partial to S30V, I certainly don't think it is a minimum standard (I carry a lightfoot M1 in AUS8 a lot) ; still as a guy who does a lot of outdoor stuff I love SR101, INFI, and CPM M4. I wish coated M4 was offered in more folders.

  • @RebelWrestler45

Ahh cheers! I thought that might have been you! Yeah you are right about Aus8 I forgot about it eh? Did they offer a Spyderco Military in M4 once?! I am not sure though. Anyways welcome to the bunker and I look forward to your posts there - a few outdoor survival types so I think you will fit right in

    Cheers,

    H

  • @Herne0011 AUS8 can be a good edc steel, depending on the heat treat. I have actually shaved with my CRKT Lightfoot M1, decent edge retention; I've also owned a few AUS 8 blades that wouldn't take much of an edge, and had 440A esque edge retention. I think Spyderco has only offered the Gayle Bradley in CPM M4; I don't want to carry a non stainless as an edc without some kind of blade coating. I'm waiting for benchmade to make a non gold class CPM m4 grippy; just picked a black/orange one in S30V

  • ive met both of those guys. there both assholes

  • @babycase117

Can't speak for the other guy, but Janich was an awesome guy. Met him at 2010 Blade show at the Spyderco booth and we chatted up how Blackhawk fucked him over. I never got the "asshole" vibe from him.

  • @babycase117 I took a knife class from Mike Janich. Great guy, he's not into all the dojo formality. Super instructor...the class was well worth the money. BTW the word is "they're" not "there."

  • @babycase117 AHAHAHAHAH
