`Er... so I have a few questions:

1. Why associate the Bolshevik -a POLITICAL philosophy with a LACK of a in God? Atheism is NOT a political view. An atheist may be left wing right wing or have NO wings at all!

2. They have debates! They were crushingly boring? -So what were they examining here? Morality! Why discuss that boring subject.

3. Was totalitarianism MORE or LESS like the God of the Bible?

i find it nice to see how the "atheist ritual" comprise of having a sophisticated and intellectual discussion about things such as morality, human nature and other and does not involves wacko stuff like burning effigies, diving in freezing water etc. and that has been called here as boring? using ur intellect to think about matters is boring? and doing crazy senseless rituals is good? right. the presenter is clearly biased against atheism. although he has been neutral throughout out the series.

@oldfokk Atheism fits the seven dimensions of religion by Ninian Smart therefore can be classed as a religion. Atheism literally means "without-god" and living without God in a sense can be seen as a belief system, a faith in a world without god. Atheism is a religion just like Buddhism is a religion or Agnosticism is a religion.

@robobrain10000 well in the very basic sense Atheism can be seen as a religion it is the belief or "faith" of no god. Atheism comes from the Greek atheos ("without-god") and that in a sense can be seen as a faith. There is even church's of atheism for example First Church of Atheism, Church of Atheology, and if you use the definiation of religion or faith according to Ninian Smart atheism fits into one of the seven dimensions of faith/religion: Social and Institutional.

As you do know, the definition of a word changes over time and new definitions get added to it with use. Also, not being convinced in a supernatural deity doesn't require a leap of faith. it just requires analysis of facts. of course it also depends on how you arrived at atheism that determines weather it took a leap of faith or not.

also, don't give me the BS that it is a religion or a social institute. Religion is a collective sets of dogma that requires the followers to ordain to the "realities" claimed within the dogma, with disregard to evidence or reason. You could make atheism into an institute like u just listed. But, even thn it would b a different kind of institute thn a religious 1 it would b based on evidence nd most atheists i know don't belong to an institute. so ur argmnt is weak
