  • What a beasty guitar solo! How didnt those strings catch on fire!?!?!

  • wow

  • That dude's guitar should not have survived that solo....

  • he's god i swear! amazing! i was so wrapped to meet james morrison at the Generations of Jazz festival a few years ago :D

  • I'm addicted to this song.

  • Crazy beginning. I love what the drummer and the guitarist do at 3:43. James Morrison is the man! Trumpet section sound totally different when he sits out the melody after the trumpet section improv.

  • that applause wasn't loud enough!

  • Can anybody point me to more music like this??

  • awesome solo

  • omg this song f***in rocks! james morrison is the beast from down under, sick guitar solo too

  • 1 person is a woodwind player

  • shit that guitarist is a beast

  • Me and my friend played this tune so many times last year our whole class got so pissed off with us. An amazing piece of music.

  • and the music is on his website

  • whoever said he uses a 'special mouthpiece' he doesnt! he uses a yamaha 14B4....(~Bach 3C)

  • the one who disliked this, cannot handle the Scream Machine.

  • who is the idiot who disliked this? It is INSANE!!! I've only been playing trumpet for a year, but I know amazing skill when I see it.

  • wants to know who the other trumpet players are?

  • I WAS THERE!! what a great night. Was visiting Sydney with some RM friends and we got tickets. Amazing gig, then afterwards James sat with us chatting 'till the early hours before one of the other trumpeters took us down the famous 'Bourbon&Beefsteak' in Kings Cross. James Morrison......the worlds greatest musician and gentleman.

  • MASTER!

  • James Morrisson is the most complete player I've ever heard!

wanted a single class of master ...

  • My GOD. Thats david jones on drums! That guy is a monster, and a beautiful man if you ever get the chance to meet him

  • Badd ass!

  • mouthpiece has nothing to do with it...diaphram and lung capacity...i used to play the tuba then pick up my trumpet for jazz practice....my stomach was rock hard...i started w a 7c and then moved to a 1...these guys are amazing though...when you can take a song like i used to do and take the chorus up an octive, now thats fun...

  • all i have to say is that was orgasmic

  • this is beastly

  • @6:48 :O

  • This vid contains so much b-flat energy I want to run outside and push over a tree.

  • Check DJ at 3.50...holy hell !!!!!!!!!!

  • I've never actually heard jazz shredding before. wow

  • holy crap!!!

  • there are special mouthpieces for it, i personally make use of a kelly screamer (plastic i know but effective) for when i actually need anything above super F or G... its a 3c standard though, always bach...

  • Wow, cacks all over the place! (Not by Morrison - the other guys obviously)

  • DYLAN or possibly Liam?

  • you go to engadine High eh?

  • Buenisimo, m costo subir, pero la pulí y la saké...

    Att. Esmayli De León..!!!

  • i wanna learn how to play a horn sooooooo bad

  • @jaedot94 Me too. I'm a percussionist but I've always wanted to try trumpet or saxophone.

  • @Zero15555 same here i play bass drum

  • My goodness... I wish I could look as though I was entirely bored with life while playing double register...

  • @RYUU91

    hahahahahahahaha. agreed

  • james = beast

who´s the guitarist? did also great job...

  • Dang!! i cant do that yet but im almost there

  • amazing

  • This TeeVee commercial for Tide laundry detergent never aired... the censors wouldn't allow the skid marks and poo kisses on the 5 undershorts to be shown on the TeeVee.

This toon is TIGHT...like man's anus...

  • Damn, yeah you´re right JM´s the best . . .

  • If by "the best" you mean "almost as good as Maynard," then I'd have to agree.

  • Amazing!!!!! JM = the best there is! No doubt!!

Where can i get this DVD!???? I've been looking all over for it!

  • You can follow James on twitter /morrisontrumpet

  • Scream Machine was filmed live at "The Basement" in Sydney Australia 10th October 2001. There was an audio CD (Studio recording) and it was also available and a DVD.

The track listing on the DVD was Scream Machine, Chameleon, Desert Sands, Caravan, Ease On In, Froot, Con Alma, Fugue II, Up Late.

  • when and where was this?

    help anyone?

  • higher!!

  • sounds alot like chameleon

    very nice,well done

  • WOW! one day im gonna be this good! well i hope....hmmm actually, its not gonna happen! lol

  • no they don't need "special mouthpeices" it's called "range".

    He is a BEAST!

  • Agreed! But they would probably use shallower mouthpieces for a piece like this that wont even enter the staff.

  • They could, but it's all about air.

  • No, it is all embrochure and strength in the face muscles to create a very tight hole to pump the air through, backed by strong intercostal muscles and diaphragm. Pumping air through at a high velocity.

  • you get shitty tone if u squeeze the notes out with the lips, you have to use ur diaphragm to get clarity.

  • @trom94 Diaphragm has nothing to do with it. What pushes the air out is the muscles surrounding the lungs. The diaphragm is a misunderstanding in brass playing :). Since the diaphragm is such a small muscle i mean... Nothing wrong whith your thesis though. Air is always key. Not the lips.

  • They don't really have special mouthpieces but, I can guarantee you, their not playing a 7C. Most jazz players do have a mouthpiece made to their specifications. But even at that, they can probelly still play perfectly, on any mouthpiece you give them, it just may be more difficult to player higher notes.

  • I guess he was using 14b4jm, which is the mouthpiece that you will get when buy 6335JII (James Morrison Model)

i think he is using some monett's stuff now.

  • Was then and still is using the standard of the shelf Yamaha 6335JM model.

  • @jamesmorrisondotcom : please...who is the band???

  • I might not know much, but personally the only reason I use the mouthpiece I use is for pure comfort, not ease of range or anything. Of course, if its comfortable, you'll probably play better on it.

  • Thats crazy awesome!

  • amazing!!

  • i clicked this from the related section in a hexnut video, and this is just amazing

  • sounds like chameleon...Maynard tune, but diff arranagement? what do you think?

  • Holy crap, it does.

  • similar funk to it. awesome

  • omg... that's sooooo cool!!! Awesome song!!!

  • sensacional fantastico

  • wonderful......absolutely wonderful

must practice my trumpet more lol

  • Morrison's intonation is like Jascha Heifetz on the violin.

  • what's the name of this song? the title of the vid says "scream Machine" but it's def not the one i know!

  • fabuloso
