It's about three women.Crosby dated Mitchell not Nash.
David Crosby, who wrote this track, stated It's about three women that I loved. One of whom was Christine Hinton, the girl who got killed in 1969 ( car accident ) who was my girlfriend, and one of whom was Joni Mitchell and the other one is somebody that I can't tell.
All I know is that It is my favorite CSN song. It still sends chills every time I hear it. Days of Music Magic.
@Longshotsblues The three woman part of the story is true, but it's not true that only Crosby dated dated Joni. David and Joni only dated casually, but Nash and Joni were serious for a while. They even lived together. He wrote "Our House" about it. And "Just a Song" after they broke up.
I read a few years back that Joni said she still had the vase he mentioned in the song.
Whatever happened to that yearning for calm and harmony? Do you not even realise how petty these criticisms are? Intelligence is marked out by what is not said.
I love Gunnevere. But back when David Crosby was with The Byrds he did a song Everybody's been burned. This song is very close too Gunnevere. See if you can fined it on You Tube it is great..................gp473
Oh hell, yeah!! Oh my God!! What a fiercely brilliant song and performance. "... Guninnevere drew pentagrams... late at night...". Thank you for the post!!

Prachtig nummer. Echt een van mijn meest favoriete close harmony nummers van CS&N. Vijf jaar oud in1980 en samen zingen met mijn moeder.

No, Nash and Mitchell were together. This song is about a woman that Crosby dated that died in a car accident.

Can you beat any of them? Crosby? Stills? Nash? OR Young? Nope. Cuz they don't make 'em like this anymore.

I think I like this version better than the one on the album. You can see they were really into it, so much feeling.

Crosby the man behind the "wooden" sound excellent song but something is missing, maybe it is Stills and maybe check the tuning.
Ukuleleguy1 4 years ago
what's missing in comparison to the album version is the electric guitar. stills doesn't sing on the album version either.
