  • Great story, George is one of the great masters and he is completely overlooked by most critics in favour of Wayne Shorter, who, while exellent player and writer, was nowhere near George as far as playing the chord changes and saxophone mastery is concerned.

  • I agree that George is a brilliant player and a little overlooked. But as far as being a better saxophone player and chord change player than Wayne... No way. Wayne had incredible technique and could play changes as good as anyone. He just wasn't interested in doing that so much in Miles' band. He had done a lot of it in the past. George was the opposite. He could play out, but wasn't interested in doing it.
