I agree on the pontiac, not very relaible, but I havent had a problem with the trans am, if i had another pontiac(god no) that car would be a money pit. U have a 1.8T, u cant tell me that it hasnt broken down at least twice. The R might be a challenge for the Trans Am :)
to be completely honest it has never broken down. the only incident was when the vw dealer had my engine out doing some work they didnt connect some things right and the turbo hose blew off (will never go there again to get work done there iq's are borderline retarded). Also ive never really been around the jetta so im unable to form an opinion though it sucks you did not get the 1.8 its an awesome car to drive on the track. handles amazing with any descent coilovers.

That's what you think. I drove a GTI a couple of weeks ago and in terms of power the engine is YEARS ahead of the competition like the Civic SI. Look at the Type S torque, 142lb-ft ? Even the Sentra CVT (not SER) makes more ! The GTI uses a small turbo, put a big turbo in it and then we could talk but the Stage 3 available increase the HP up to 380 I think, which would KILL a Type S even with a turbo. The 1.8T is the old engine, the 2.0t is the new version (used first time in the 2006 GTI)

The GTI is one HELL of a car, but it's not the best in the world, the best for me is a BMW M5. When we talk about mods, they are both great and they can make 700HP each. The GTI transmission changes gear quicker than a manual transmission like in the Acura so no it's not up to the driver. You only have to push the pedal to the metal and it shift for you :)
