MindofMadMax: i'm not sure what it is that YOU are not sure about! WHAT did i supposedly "object" to? Was my comment was directed to someone else's post? Please "enlighten" me. RE: "Lucifer". Q: What if I told you Lucifer and "Jesus" were one-and-the same? Most (like, as in 99.9%, "most") Chirstians are so completely ignorant of the old Hebrew that they are suseptible to deception by the very thing you warn of here -- "religious spirits" -- but won't believe it is operating through their Pastor!
@MindofMadMax -Yes, there are religious spirits. Study Ezek 28 & Isaiah 14. The biography of lucifer before, during, and after his self imposed fall. No one made the devil, satan, etc. This cheribum was given power, beauty, and position. He blew it. In II Cor. there is a reference to "angel of light" spirits. In Matthew 6:33 the Lord mentions to "Take heed therefore that the light that is in you be not darkness. That is why one must truly know the Word and not religion. All come to an end
I love his music and musicality. I also believe to perceive that Phil Keaggy is a very warm and upright person with a positive spirit. But a lot of these "Christians" surrounding him often seem no less than utterly creepy. And that apart from my general annoyance with people being pushy with their "true faith".
Contract with the devil? What on earth for? He is nothing but a loser. Study Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14 in the Bible. Not to mention his end in Revelation. If you want to be with a winner. Obey Acts 2:38 and live with the One Who holds the universe in His fist. Not to mention our next breath. Lucifer was given from the Lord beauty, power, and position in his beginning. He blew it. We cannot afford to follow or be as his example. Study it out.
@Forkumovah Well, remember the bible calls satan "the god of this world" (system), and that he "did" tempt Jesus (with fame, fortune, and power). satan IS alive and well on planet earth, and he can (and does) reward those that "play his game" (for now). You need only make note of all the "millionaires", that made their money through: sex, drugs, crime, violence, deceit, pride, and ambition. Notable televangelists too! RELIGIOUS DEMONS DO EXIST! (In order to harm the true message of Jesus)
@aerycksmusic Scripture says: "The last enemy to be defeated will be death" (1 Corinthians 15:26). So, death, is an apparent TIME limit, placed on "all" of our lives. With angelic/demonic/and God beings (living outside of "time"), there is no such limit. Look at it as a "contest" of beliefs... (You best be on the winning side, I'm just saying...)
@MindofMadMax - Yes, that makes good sense. I had my first encounter with death at 18 and Jesus saved me. At 50 I had a heart attack and my faith was put to the test. I have put my trust in Jesus Christ for the road ahead and look forward to what it will be like to live in an incorruptible body. Cool, like Superman only better. :)
@aerycksmusic Yes, time does indeed collapse when you die. It is then, that you enter the realm of the eternal, the realm of "no-time". Most every religion/philosophy believes this. So..., it's up to you to make the most of your "time"... Hmmm, what to do...
@MindofMadMax ~ I guess for some there is a foretaste of this in the here and now, for those who have been translated and are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus already. There's another beautiful song by Phil Keaggy, with the words 'there's a kingdom emerging and to me that's very encouraging, a place where we can be the people of God.' Once I chose death as the way to life, only to find that death had been dealt a marvelous death blow, and life begins now, not after you die. Job done.
@chubbycheex99 Her name is STARR PARODY and at the time she was in the house band for the Arsenio Hall show. The band only had one rehearsal for this gig..
@chubbycheex99 Yep... Starr rocks, but 'the look' has surely helped her get gigs- on skills alone, she's marginally pro (IMnsHO). The original PKB (Phil Keaggy Band) keyboardist on Love Broke Through (the album & the tour) was Phil Madiera- ugly as home-made sin in the face, but a beautiful spirit & world-class chops. Night & day, the comparison w/Parody. Video never 'killed the radio star'... he just hides in the studio, where 'pretty' is a sound!
@chadludwig The song's not a scare tactic, it's a commentary about the enemy of all who live: "Time" And so, according to scripture, this "enemy" will one day be defeated for us.
Phil, is "for real", he's had much tragedy in his life, that faith has seen him through. He got his start in mainstream rock and roll (sex, drugs, lcohol etc), it's a great injustice that the music industry ignores him because of his faith, watch the Phil Keaggy Topeka bible church promo video about his life
Time is not quite an enemy. If not for time, many would not get the chance to repent. Time is the loving patience and longsuffering of the One Holy Triune God.
It's hard to get real theologically deep though in a 6-10 minute song, so it's understandable that Phil is using as a 'hook' as he does in the song.
To me, Keaggy is one of the greatest guitarists ever, and he can say whatever he wants to.
...and the music industry doesnt deserve Phil Keaggy. He's too good for them!
@mark12v24 Yes, well stated, time is fluid! Though God is able to see "time" from beginning to end, and therefore is able to declare future events..., in the "HERE and NOW", you still have a free choice! (God simply is able to know "what", your choice will be...). So, you are still able to receive Christ, right here, right now, just for the asking (by praying: "Jesus save me..."). IF..., you have the COJONES to do it! (But, He "knows", IF you will or not, fool). So It's NOT His fault!
@MindofMadMax ~ K-Man's probably not interested in the sort of relationship with mainstream rock and roll. He's doing what we should all be doing, 'storing up treasure in heaven'. Rock on PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MindofMadMax I don't think the music industry ingnores him but rather he ignored the mainstream end of the industry. He had a chance with his first commercial band, but decided to go solo, to sign with a Christian label, to not play secular music, and the rest is history--the history he chose for himself, really.
@jonaggod Mark 8:36 - "...What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?"... Phil followed his heart. He has a loyal and dedicated fan base, he records the music "he" wants to record (without the approval of some bureaucratic, anal retentive, R.I.A.A. profiteer breathing down his neck). In my book, that's a success story! (God, I wish "I" was more like him in my choices...). --Max
@MindofMadMax Apparently you've inferred from my comments that I think he's not a success story. Never said that. I merely said he could've gone either way--yes, he likely chose the road that suited him best. But to think the CCM world has no profiteers or have only righteous intentions is misguided. He deserves a larger fan base, and maybe the choices he made left many in the dark as to his gifts. BTW, ask Bono if he thinks he foreited his soul? {Don't answer for him lest ye be judged}
@jonaggod BONO? What does Bono have to do with Jesus of Nasareth? Jesus (God), said: "if you are not with Me, then you are against Me..." (not much debate there, fool...)
@jonaggod Bono? Bono is a reprobate, compared to Phil... Please distinguish between selling your soul, and putting forth your gifts..., as an offering to God
@MindofMadMax A reprobate is a person rejected by God, and you, good sir, have no title to the claim of judge (nor do I). If anyone who doesn't work in the fields ordained by you to be Godly is going to Hell, then by your standards, nearly all of us are going there. Gee, I'm glad you are not God, as most of us would be screwed. By the way, it's spelled Nazareth.
@jonaggod "Lighten up" Jona- g o d..., my comments are philosophical (unless you can prove that someone actually has signed a contract with the devil). And yes, I imagine that "Bono" would actually say, that the "recording industry (at large)" has hindered his creativity many times, in many ways, in favor of commercialism. (Bono does reportedly claim that he is a Christian, but he is the "servant" of a secular label).
@MindofMadMax I love how, when a thin thread of logic gets pulled, one often resorts to saying "lighten up". After all, it was you who said Bono was a reprobate next to Phil. I'd say follow your own advice before condemning those you don't know. And BTW, Bono, by virtue of his power and money, would be the LAST musician to say he is hindered by the artistic constraints of the biz. The rest of us, sure that's true.
@MindofMadMax And BTW, since when does working for a secular company make one a non-Christian? Or even cause you to have the gall to wonder aloud if a person is saved? Again, I say who are you to judge, really?! I am a Christian and I work for a secular college. I'm a "servant" of a secular college and therefore...what? Steven Curtis Chapman is on a Christian label, and yet he has recorded secular songs--it's folly to make your insinuations about record labels, people, etc..
@manofthecloth613 Im not sure what you're objecting to? The concepts of Time and Death are equivelent to each other..., at leat they are in our present temporal and corporeal dimension. Only in God's dimension, are the concepts of Time and Death, irrelevent...., since He lives outside of "time", as we know it, and He perceives "Death", as "spiritual death", that is: Existence, suffering the consequenses of rejecting Him... (the existence presently suffered by satan, etc)
When I started thinking about spiritual things, I rejected the concept of hell. I wanted to find the way for "everyone" not just the "chosen few." Yet, TIME has a way of catching up with us sooner (hopefully) than later. If we have lied or stolen (and who hasn't?), then we are lying thieves. There are no liars in heaven, so we must be made new. It's your choice. God or spend eternity with the majority that has rejected Him. Warning: without Christ, people will be much worse after the grave!
what an incredible mix of players in this rare video. too bad the sound quality wasn't better, but no doubt about the one of the greatest guitarists in the world!
@katie180574 It's no secret that Phil is a beatles fan, and credits them (especially McCartney) as a defining influence in his life. He recorded McCartney's "Motor of Love", on his "Inseperable" album. Hunt through the Phil Keaggy YouTube videos, and you'll find no less than 5 (or so) beatle cover songs, including: while my guitar gently weeps, here comes the sun, and nowhere man (with randy stonehill).
@bikeman40 me TOOooo! Who would you like to have playing drums with that trio? If not Jerry? Be waaay cool if Phil were to go out on the road with an ensemble similar to Glass Harp for a 40th anniversary tour, next year.

yeah, I was gonna say that the keys were up in the record mix - maybe not live tho'? - drown the guitar on Youtube... but Star is a hot play - lovely to look at according to the amount of screen time given by the camera people!!
There are better resources to have theological debates than youtube.
