  • i think it is the worst of times because we dont care for speed we care for safety and cheating on driving. like back up cammeras and sensors and all round air bags. weres the fun in cars these days. GM with all this no gas electric crap makes me sick . i want a car that looks good drives good and sounds good. not a car that makes the sound of the engine Air ! i want speed!

  • lol, at 7:05, Leo's hand goes outside the box on the left.

  • Now that it is a year later I think Matt has won this debate with all the new lighter cheap sports car concepts we have been seeing the past couple months taking out all of the electronics and gadgets in them

  • I can puit a whole new drivetrain in my Mustang Gt for about 9 grand. If I have to I'll drive that bitch forever.

  • When the muscle cars die, I'll just keep rebuilding them with new shit. Just like you see the old 60's camaros with LS7's and LS9's in them with modern seats and dashboards, and modern suspension. Those cars are still alive and kickin, and have power and handling of new cars thanks to the aftermarket.

  • Best of times!

  • We could have rationing in less than 5 years. The oil industry is in MAJOR trouble, the production capacity isn't there and is getting worse. Mexico will cease to be an exporting country by the end of 2010 and they are currently our #3 supplier! Almost every major oil producer is past peak and many believe Saudi Arabia is past peak or at peak now.

  • electric cars have insane acceleration and are generally lighter than petrol cars. For real drivers ( people who stir both ways), electric is the way to go.

  • This man is in fantasy land if he thinks one day there wont be cars that can go 200MPH. Even if they are hybrids there will be Hybrid and Electric cars that can go 200. The demand will always be there for fast exotic cars. Cars today are clean.

  • I'm a responsible adult who wants to drive where appropriate, not be babysat by big brother. Give me the efficient, fun, and powerful cars that these manufacturers are FULLY capable of doing but have failed to do so. HCCI? YES PLEASE!

  • Hybrids are only a temporary solution.

  • i still like the old 90s even 80s cars and the classic too ..( by the way i'm 17 i wasn't in that time ) but i think cars are going to change in this time more then ever i just saw the new for mustang and it blow me away and i think it well just get better in time and cheaper ... and there well still be car guys alot of them

  • Matt is right, the petrol heads will demand their cars, and nobody will let cars that drive themselves as standard.

Hybrids are stupid there is no point in this technology, there are so many diesels out there that have better gas millage.

  • You rule! Keep it up. Thanks.

  • Most people that own a car do not actually need a car as Most people that own a 4x4 or a truck do not need a truck. A car is too convinient. If you 'have to' own a car, do you need to use it every day? Alternative travel for week and weekend use to take kids/dog/go track day. Pay as you go insurance/tax? More incentive to use less as no feeling like you have to use car after paying years insurance. Problem? Would car makers still be able to afford to exist? Other problems too.

  • Cars arn't going anywhere, nothing will change.

  • i am a car guy. i wanna drive my own damn 2003lancer evolution 8

  • I agree with you on this one. Black Boxes for cars will suck! All it is, PERSONAL MASS TRANSIT!

  • if they stop building "real cars" then i'll just get old cars and rebuild them over and over again

  • i pray that there will always be a drivers car.

i like how you are analyzing the consumers habits and how the companies are trying to emulate the wants. more insightful than some programs.

  • COOL

  • i think that no matter what people are still gonna make 200mph cars one way or another....and i can agree u can do this without big v16 or v12 or v10... also the average joe like me is having a hard time buying gas every day for my 5.0 foxy but i really dont give a fuk cuz i like to speed either way so yeah i leanred to deal with it ...

  • of-course its the best of times....ya GM is all about hybrids and diesels BUT car enthusiasts aren't going to buy a car for them from GM or Dodge, their going to go for ferrari or lamboghini and those companies have just set the fasted track times in the 1940 and 50 ferrari couldnt even make a clutch. look where they are now. the technology thats making hybrids for pedestrian cars is the same technology thats making Zonda Fs go around the in 7 minutes this is an amazing time Nurbergring for cars

  • I'm a car enthusiast and I'll buy GM. I don't know a car enthusiast that owns a lamborghini, only rich douchebags.

  • @AJballer

first you would have to know someone who owns a lambo to determine whether they are a tuner or a rich snob

  • @FreedomTeam6 I only know of one guy around where I live and he owns a construction business, I seriously doubt he's a tuner. I haven't seen any of those twin turbo gallardos in real life, those guys are serious about their shit.

  • lol

  • hybrids are trash , hydrogen is the future.

  • "not really gree, kills hispanics, and puts out less"

Im sorry, but that gave a good ride in the loflcopter...

Please do explain, I jut think it sounds funny

  • the guy on green is so stupi

  • no, you are

  • fuck u nigger, u know he's stupid

  • no no no, not Nger, brownie I'm a mexican :)

  • ok beaner shut the hell up then

  • such anger.. you will go bald young my friend...

  • shit

  • The topic is "Best or Worst of Times for Automobiles" not eco-friendly-self-driving-hybrids vs Muscle & Exotics.

  • hahaha.. what we have is two arrogant conservatives (meaning not wanting to change) argueing about what's going to be inevitable. the only difference is that one is news-smart and the other is car-smart... lol. stupid guys. just like seat belts, airbags, abs, and powersteering, hybrid technology will become standard in almost any car. (whether people like it or not)

by the way don't even bring up the ethanol topic.. thats dead, it's not really gree, kills hispanics, and puts out less energy.

  • hybrid is not the future. why? it's a transitive technology. a patch. and as much as it pains me, internal combustion engines are going away :( but not in a while, do some research on the BMW hydrogen 7. using a regular engine it can also burn pure hydrogen. But I do agree with Farah... guys who still have testicles WILL want to drive their own cars with 400+ at whatever speeds they can get away with. (some ladies may want to too!) so fuck hybrids!

  • this guy sounds like an arrogant asshole

  • the whole blackbox is stupid along with the whole big brother idea checking how fast someone goes. if they dont want people driving fast then dont make fast cars!!

  • Dude, Tell Leo to shut the fuck up. Corvette Z06, 2009 Camaro, Dodge Challanger as well as HiPO Caddys and Pontiacs.

My BMW Z4 lease is up and I'm on line for one of these cars. We're back baby! And Leo? Did I say shut the fuck up yet?

  • im losing my hair too

  • Downloading porn while driving? Very safe dude.

  • Driving fast requires serious training. The desire to drive fast does not replace the skills to do it. You don't need to have 600HP to drive fast.

  • check out Thom Robertson

  • there's always gonna be ferraris or lambos that will go super fast.

that comment about in 2020 everything will be a hybrid is stupid

  • Gm already has black boxes in their cars. They put them in in 1999.

  • i say the solution is the lotus exige!!!

fast as hell and 30 mpg!

  • Doesn't Matt realize that the demand is now for economy cars.. Consumer spending dictates what auto companies invest in research and what they produce. Right now, its not for high performance cars.

  • It's not the end of driving enjoyment cuz technology advances every month. The golden age was the 60's cuz: no catalytic converter, no smog, gas was 40 cents a gallon, & performance parts were cheap. Cars are faster & more technologically advanced now, but anyone can jump into a Nissan GTR & drive fast cuz of all it's sensors & computers. Driving a car with no ABS, traction control, or yaw rate control takes a lot more skill. Cars are better than they ever have been, but car companies are dying.

  • Worst of times. GM sold 51% of the business to Cerberus, same company who bought Chrysler, & lost $3.3 billion as of April. Ford sold Aston, Range Rover, & Jaguar, & are planning to sell Volvo, & they lost $8.7 billion as of July. By 2020 the average fuel economy of all the nation's cars & trucks must be 35 mpg. Tadge Juetcher, chief engineer of the '09 ZR1, said "High-performance vehicles such as [the ZR1] may actually be legislated out of existence. It really could be an endangered species."

  • man oh man matt farah is narrow minded. he thinks like every one in the world wants and is going to buy sporty cars. sure, it's an attractive idea - sporty and efficient, but that isn't the entire focus of the auto industry..making 20 something year olds happy..yea no.

  • he comes off as ignorant and unreasonable. he's thinking of the electric and hybrid engine technologies from 10+ years ago...

  • Gas Mileage for the ZR1 goes down compared to the Z06 yes, but he is wrong about "close ration 6 speeds" being the reason LOLZ. Who the hell is this guy?

The reason the ZR1's gas mileage is not as good as the (larger engined) Z06, is because the ZR1 is a couple hundred pounds heavier than the Z06.

  • best time for cars by far, you can have a classic american muscle car, fantastic european supercar, or a clean japanese tuner, just depends on what you want, and lots of choices for each.

  • Boring BOring video

  • Too much talking

  • If you are a car broker or a car collector I would say the economy for those cars are at their market low since 2006. If you look back several years a 1968 Shelby GT 500KR would cost you around $250,000 or more depending on the miles. Now Americans economy drop so far that the collector car business is hurting. Now I'm seeing the same car go for $85,000. So I would say this is the best time to buy collector cars and invest your money to keep them original and in great quality.

  • U know what, I am going to be hated on Hard for saying this but Leo is making a Striking point that is actually very very true.

Study the shit hes talking about & you will see the undeniable truth 4 Urself.

  • im gonna shoot leo in the fuckin head im not playing

  • i want to punch this guy in the face. fuck that old guy in the suit

  • Its not the worst of times for cars its the worst of times for the whole planet

  • These times are some of the best for automobiles. I mean they make a supercar a day. But if all cars go on automatic controls they would be able to make them go 200 mph in a city... (atleast that's what I guess).

I guess we should have traveling cars (a good example would be Lexus LS, wich can almost drive by itself and it can cover big distances very efficient), and also driving cars. I'd go even for electric as long as it is fast. (Not enough characters to continue).

  • Matt knows what he's talking about, that Leo is just a fag waiting to get "rear" ended. There will always be a group of people like myself who appreciates high technology and pushing the envelope. Look at the 1993-95 Madza RX-7 sports car, it even has forums throughout the world.

Enhancement modifications to improve performance has been done by these owners who share information. Manufactoring companies are stupid like the ignorant Leo. Business lost to companies that give what owners want.

  • baldy you sound like a dumb high school kid

  • Good times now, but there are some chchchchchanges coming. Not all good.

I do agree with Leo though. A large percentage of todays cars have computers in them that track throttle position, speed etc... and can be accessed after an accident to see what you were doing.

It's only a matter of time that insurance companies get access to that box in the event of a serious accident or injury. They will refuse to pay for injury or damage if they don't get access.

  • Remember the 70s, pollution controls were not the only thing that ended the muscle car era. Insurance rates rose tremendously for any muscle car. People couldn't afford them.

On the other hand cars that drive themselves probably won't work. The read world environment is too complicated. Older Lexus had adaptive cruise control (with radar?). They were removed from newer models because they were considered to be dangerous.

  • leo doesn't really say anything, hes just making random stuff up on the spot, hes a bellend ...

  • the bald guy is right. ppl dont need a chevy suburban or ford excursion to drive their 5 person families. if your gonna get something make it atleast make sense

  • "Fuck this suit" as Billy Walsh might say. The auto industry is backward. Slap a small direct injection turbocharged Diesel in a chassis like the ariel atom, or throw it back to something really classy like a lotus 7. Handling, speed, eco friendly (lets remember diesels were designed to run on peanut oil). Tell me you need electronics, fuck even a radio. Gimme a shifter and a steering wheel please. THAT GUY WAS A TOOL!

  • Baldy puts way too much faith into the online communities, which represent like .01% of the entire market. And they are mostly car enthusiasts, not every day people. Car manufacturers cater to what 99.99% of the general public wants. And those people are not the radical car enthusiast who has a million posts on VWVortex asking for a 400hp twinturbo 4-Motion GTI.

  • i just wanna say that i will build my own car if that will happen

  • I think this is a horrible time for the auto industry. However, it could be a great time in the industry, but companies like GM and Chrysler need to make simple, good-looking, lightweight cars that are actually interesting to drive that stand out,(ex. Each GM company should be not only marketed to a certain crowd, but actually appeal to those people.) People will never buy into self-driven cars, I think that they can't be trusted.

  • I don't think this is a really bad time, but now a days most of the designs are really generic, also I think that the big companies in this industry should concentrate in making more efficient SUV/Trucks, with great gas milleage, and get rid of the huge gas guzzling trucks or tax them even higher than what they do now. just make lighter and more efficient vehicles. as an example, I'm starting a build of hayabusa powered, 1600lb 2 seater car, with just enough gadgets for me to have fun lol.

  • LOTUS 4EVER! Good mpg, compact, GREAT noise, handles like a dream, light weight, sporty, fast, realitively cheap, good lookin', rare, and therefore SUB ZERO COOL!!!!!!

  • its all bout cars man fuck the enviorment

  • kewl guy

  • the only fuel source that does not make any pollution is hydrogen but even that takes a lot of electricity to make. for the retard in the suit having a high diploma does not mean you know everything about cars in the future. the way a person drives effects fuel economy more than the engine uder the hood. things like drag coefficient affect it even more. did i mention that hybrids dont even get that many mpg's as for example there are a few opel speedsters driving around cali that run on bio-fuel

  • [i didn't have enough room] and they get around 120 mpg while making around 350 hp.[I saw that on the science channel btw]there are cars in europe that run on deisel that make well over 75mpg.I know for a fact that a prius can't get better than 45. the only thing the economy needs is for people to learn about these cars.I spent all day under and in cars.I have over 100,000 posts at a car site so for the fucking idiot in the suit just a college degree is not gonna make you an expert.

  • Im with matt 100%

  • People who drive hybrids thinking they're saving the earth are truly dumb. The energy spent mining and fabricating the materials for the batteries is more then the average fuel spent for gasoline cars in the long run. But whatever makes you sleep easier at night!

  • fuck the groomy guy on the right. smartass bastard.

  • fuck future cars i go with old school cars u always have to have the motor trying to rip out of the hood wen u step on the gas thats all i have to say

  • well i gotta say ima car lover.... it doesn't matter what happens i love the sound and feel of a strong motor and that's something that's not going to come out of a hybrid so you wont catch me in one of those

  • Electric cars can be really fast!

  • I hate the bald fucker.

That´s all I have to say.

  • Whats wrong with investing in hybrids? There's concept hybrids that get 80 mpg and and go 0-60 in 4.5 seconds such as the Mini QED. The future is electric motors and it just so happens that they have outstanding performance and power to weight ratio. For that reason, the future will be the best of times. PS big brother isn't out to get you.

  • reminds me of the song "Red Barchetta" By Rush. Check it out Matt.

  • this is def. the best time for cars because when you look at cars such as the Ferrari 599, yes you get the same V12 from the enzo, but at the same time you get the luxuries of say a Bently. Bugatti also does a very fine job at the luxury supercar. and yes, more car manufacturers may be making more fuel cell, hydrogen, and hybrid cars, but at the same time, they are also still trying to make super sports cars. What mr. Parente was trying to say is that no more supercars will ever be made, not tru

  • i dun like mr parente

  • Best of times!!!! Leo Parente was talking about technology on cars am hibrit and al that , but he forgot to say about how technology is now used to make cars go faster , electronic controled gearboxes , regenerative braking wich is used to give more short-therm power and all that , and about the lack of oil , the industries are capable of inventig a bio-fuel more gren , cheaper and ready avalible anywhere so in conclution THIS IS THE BEST TIME FOR CARS!!!

  • the bald guy sounds like a highschool kid.

  • It was a nice conversation a bout cars but,

    Look hoes talking !

Now gay dudes are car experts !

The Guy in the suite is so Gay !

    What is he thinking ?

It's simple cars are made for consumer demand and desire if they aren't up to it they wont sell.

no mater what kind of stile or fuel !

  • it's such phone free wont? wheat.

    new jersey.

  • Who wants AIDS?

  • there gonna be a 340 hp d inject turbo v6 from ford soon

  • The "government." The "insurance industry." People are so afraid of these entities, but they are all made up of PEOPLE..... and those people have desires. As long as those desires include having fun while driving, I don't think the automobile is in any danger. For those that want it, at least.

  • Just change the fuel so that hybrids cease to exist. Ugly little fuckers arn't they.

  • is matt farah persian, does anyone know?

  • hey just to say i think it might be just in the middle if ur in to tech its a good time if ur in to heavy metal aka claccics u might be out a luck but if u like to race like i do lol i have a v8 truck im out fit with my own engine degin but its not working 2 good it only runs for 2 hours then it needs to be recharged and the horse power wars are over if i get my engine in the race lol no need for gas no need to charge its electric im trying to make it so it runs without being re charged.

  • it's the best time for cars. yeh sure everyone wants good gas mileage and now there are supercars that have it. the new gt-r isn't a bad example. the upcoming camaro will have 450+ horsepower but can shut down 4 cylinders in town. the auto industry isn't stupid and they will adapt to make every car fanatic happy. maybe we will stop seeing 599's but there will be an equally fast alternative.

  • I have to agree with Matt. It is the best time for car guys. Black boxes? There will always be a company/hacker who will be able to get rid of it for you. (remember when nissan said no one would be able to tune the R35 engine, because the electronics were so complex?).

Plus, you can always take an old used car to a guy/garage like Chip Foose and he will make it a 500hp monster, without all the electronic nannies. And you´ll be driving a "brand new" 1990 vehicle.

  • i work at a honda dealership (but a toyota fan)and these cars are getting more "set back and relax we'll drive you" Especially ACURA. but they still have auto cross events and what not. those are always fun, the only problem is it attracts show offs so when they're not racing they're driving stupid on the streets, do me a favor look up Acura and take a look at some of they're newer cars.

  • most fun to drive COROLLA Toyota ever made..

  • "god knows what in the 80's"?!

85 Toyota Corolla GTS the most fun to drive Toyota ever made. we need more RWD cars..

  • The major mistakes of the host.

Car guys are an insignificant percentage of the market and the industry sells what Joe Vanilla wants to buy, which most of the time he was told by the industry what he needs to buy.

  • Matt, you are soooo wrong.

    Look outside the USA.

Realistic gas prices will kill your horses.

  • really? what about the 600hp "65" Benzes? The 500+ HP BMW M's? The 570hp RS6? To me, it seems a good percentage of the big power stuff comes from overseas.

  • Well, I think it will get worse, thats why I picked up an BMW M Coupe with the last of the I6 S54 engines. I like N/A engines but I dont think they'll be around too much longer.

  • watch?v=1UEOZGFzPas

  • that business guy seems pissed off. why not have a 600 HP hybrid? that sounds great to me..

  • Get real people. Tons of money will be made from designing cars that use very little fuel or alternative fuels. Why? It's all about the money for the consumers.

The rich who can afford fast cars, will always be able to buy them. But like always they will be unusual birds.

The Tesla Roadster is fast enough and is all environmentally clean.

    What's this weird paranoia??

  • I have to agree with you Matt! Heck with just a few modification my Volvo gets 30-32mpg on the highway and is faster than stock form

  • Neither, best is not here.... worst has not even begun to happen.

  • Have to agree, the worst is yet to come, but we've definitely already started the disent into a non-driver's car industry. For Pete sakes, Porsche, a once renound motorsport brand with their slogan "stay true to yourself" has already deterred off that race marque brand with the coming of a Cayenne hybrid, not to mention the Cayenne itself!!! At least there's a GTS version, but still. And now they're making sedans!!!!! Seriously all this pro-fuel economy shit is really pissing me off!

  • Dr. Ferdinand Porsche would frown upon what his company is producing these days (SUV's and sedans).

Clearly there are two types of people: Car enthusiasts who love to drive, and those who view their car and drive just to get from A to B. I say companies appeal to both masses and build X<$30K ultra mileage cars and the cars for people who honestly drive for fun and don't care about extra ammenities.

If I could, I would honestly remove my AC to save weight! Sad day driver's cars go extinct

  • seriously man.while porsche still makes killer performance cars, they are just being stupid with the suv and 4 door.porsche was alawys unique and brilliant until they came out with the cayenne and that sedan

  • Thank you!

  • The guy talks about financial sustainiblilty

and Ferrari made €1,668,000,000 in 2007. So I think sports are here to stay.

  • im from Detroit...

yeah, the Auto Industry fuckin BLOWS

  • damn right

  • I see bad times coming

    AND FUCK sellphones

  • hay R8 TDI 10L/100KM 500 hp

if yo have turbo engen use E85

    I saved the WORLD

  • I think its funny how, I just realized that GARAGE 419 joined youtube after I became a member. That alone tells me that there is a lot of interest in sports cars yet. Its obvious Turbos & Lightweight will be key. I think that like Matt commented we need the yung enthusiasts like myself in there and given some freedom to do it right. Im debating going to old General Motors Institute (the new Kettering Institute) next year for college.

  • I really dont like this whole Black box thing. I love driving my s2000 but if i cant give it gas what the point of having a car like that.

  • DAMN WRIGHT! for every guy making a chip to prohabit speed or anything else, there are 10guys breaking the code to undo.HYBRID is ASS the device can barely power its on weight, and completely opposite of what you want to get good gas mileage. carbon composite body and frame+small displacement ethanol or other turbo engines ARE the future. electric and other WILL have its roll, but not mainstream. AMEN brother on everything else.

  • speaking of carbon body and frames. shitsubishy has found a way for machines to lay carbon frames and make molds using carbon, light weight is the way to go and the future, and i love being wright.

  • Nope, I'm with you, Matt. There'll always be people who enjoy driving, and the manufacturers will make cars to sell to those people. The prevalence of electronics, cell phones, OnStar, etc. in today's cars will have no effect on that. I don't even see how that's related...

  • you can see that people want small luxury cars you are right, look at the BMW 1 series, the Lexus IS and ES, The Audi A4, and the Merc C class, they are getting much more popular than they ever were

  • ya i would never put one in the car, and if there were one in a fast car, and none in a slow ass one, id definitely go for the slow ass one

  • great show! agreed with everything you said

  • I think that until out there will be men who like to drive by themselfs nothigüs gonna hapen with our normal cars.

  • Anyone know his myspace?

  • i use facebook

  • ack to many stupid pricks try to get a hold of me on there, im not a fan of that social network.

  • Leo is an idiot..he keeps contradicitng himself...saying nothing has changed and nothing will but hybrids are going to take over..he never even makes any good points to back himself up

  • if the driver's cars will disappear, I will be buying used cars for the rest of my life, and wont buy anything newer than 2008.

The insurance companies will be able to do whatever they want Matt, it might come down to, if your car doesn't have the "black box" well than your insurance will be $1,500 a month, but if you do have the box, it will only be $75 a month. Insurance companies do this today anyway.

  • copy,past: user/stimulator

  • ya'll ppl need give leo parente respect coz he knows what he's talkin about, all these new cars are gettin more boring by the day. I AGREE with what he's saying and its not just in america its in the world

  • hey if i can still go 120 mph on my little neon im happy...

  • There you go. You are one of the people that knows the point of driving: fun. It doesn't matter if you have 200 horsepower or 600 horsepower. If you're having fun driving your car, then the "golden age" of automobiles is still alive.

  • slow car fast...

  • this Leo Parente is a fucking idiot. he needs to be shot. everytime i listen to his voice i wanna pull the 12ga. out from underneath my bed and blow my head off. SHUT THE FUCK UP MAN! Let me be with my 15mpg truck.

  • Not Demolition Man Mat, more like The Fifth Element were you must insert you licence before the car will start. Black boxes are already connected to most new cars, but you can have the best of both worlds and add the 600hp+ engine to an older lightweight car:)

  • Fifth Element too, but in Demolition Man the cars drive themselves, and you get fined for cursing. I'd be out of money and die of boredom.

  • hahaha Fifth Element is such a great movie! plus, you can drive in any direction you want! that must be pretty sick

  • chill out Demolition Man is never happening and is as unrealistic as it could possibly be

besides if computers don't cause crashes, unlike humans, why trust it to a human?? besides with computers doing the driving the crusing speed might end up at 200mph safely, would you trust all humans to control their cars as well as a high tech computer all going 200mph??

  • you sure about demolition man? think about it... the Schwarzenneger library?

  • That fucker on the right is a pussy-ass little bitch mother fucker. He reminds me of the dad from American Pie, only 10x more of a fuck. He'd be better off taking bong rips from the ass end of an 80's 6.2 GM diesel!

  • For me it's the best of times, cause i get 90+mpg out of a 350. I just run it off gas vapor, basicly a gas bong. By the way the new cars kick ass because they wind up to their max HP so muck faster then the old muscle cars did.

  • I believe in the aspect of speed, innovation and BAMFy cars, this is the best time. Like they pointed out, there's over 15 cars you can buy from dealers that can reach or exceed 200 MPH; however, in the aspect of fuel economy and the fuel crisis around the world, it is indeed the WORST times cars have been through in a long time.

I personally never wanna see the internal combustion V6/8/10/12 engines fade away because those sounds will never be replicated again...especially by electric cars..

  • I will never ever buy a hybrid.

    Muscles cars are the best!

  • the fact that the gtr is limited to 110 in japan in proof enough that all automotive fun is on its way out.

  • I think this is the best of times because when you think about it, the only cars we cant drive because of their age, suck(for the most part). so we right now have availability to almost every single type of car made. We also are still developing better cars, In terms of Gas mileage, horsepower ect. So i think this is the best time to be a car guy because nothing is out of reach nowadays.

  • please please please don't get rid of the big block V8's please god i need them lol

  • My ideal future. no gas guzzling SUV and POS hummers(6400 LBS, fuck). Trucks will only belong the people who need it. Diesel trucks in europe give MPGs in upper 30s. we'll have those. Our daily drivers will be fun hot hatches like golf GTIs, focus rs with mpg in 40s. that'll take care of the environment and environmentalists. to top it all off, from all the money saved during the week will go to the crazy weekend car, 63 AMG V8 anyone. yeah that'll be sweet, just my thoughts.

  • DESTORY THE BLACK BOX!!!! it should be like a leg brace and be giving out only to repeat offenders

  • amen to that man!

  • easily the best of times.

  • I don't think that car manufacturers will ever stop making sports cars, they will just revolutionize the way they are made. With the usage of light weight fabrics like Carbon Kevlar and Carbon fiber cars can be fast witout the huge V8-s and up. Like the Lotus Evora coming out with a Toyota 3.5L said to be as fast as a Z06. With cars like the Tesla, even the Mitsu MiEV, and Diesel coupe councept there are ways to have a sports car without huge HP and huge V8+ engines. But will people buy them?

  • I think the american car industrymaybe collapse while the german and jap rise even more and our way to have fun will be:

    1)have fun, pay the fee

    2)race track only

and maybe many nich cars will come

imagine now being common to have your frankeinsteinian hydrogen/bio-something/air/gasoline/diesel- hibrid and also a place so youcant rent an hour on track

it is horrible but it maybe thje future and about the liberty to hit the gas freely checkout the nissan gt-r you can only rev it on a track!!

  • i dont think there is a bad time or good time for automobiles as long as there r ppl out there who wanna drive. less power? less speed?yeah go ahead and check out the C63 AMG. oh and the brabus verion "bullit" will hit over 224 MPH for god sake. even th aston matin gets 12 cylinders. but partly u r right. ppl who dont have a life wanna drive a car that dont need him/her to drive it. i am sure there will be such things. and i am sure there will be more "family sedan" can hit over 200.
