Hi guys. Chucky here. Just a word to say this digga now has 50,000+ hrs on the clock, is slow as all fuck, and still load 5 bucket passes, in 2.03 mins with an "OPERATOR" on it, YEAH BOYS, SUCK IT UP.
Got nothing on Thiess's 9800's at Burton champ!! Try 95 T a bucket. Even better, what about Bycures's new shovel at Currugh? 120T a pass into those new 400T trucks? Pftt, please!
1: It's a lovely undercarriage on that komatsu! Steady as a rock! I drive terex/O&K 120 E in the mine i work at, and it have to be designed by drunk engineers! It's too freakin' short!
2: Ever tried to spray the back of the bucket with marking spray? To see if you wear the back of the bucket..?
Cool, I am upgrading from a 385 Cat to a Hitachi EX5500 next week, I work in Fort Mac Alberta so this is gonna be a big step for me, Any advice you care to share when running backhoes that big...I have been running 600-800 series hoes for over a decade so this is gonna be interesting.

Respond to this video...I bet your mouths bigger than that bucket...and gets filled in every time you go to the Wet canteen...as well......FUCK OFF JEFF OFF...you have heard that before I bet..!
@JEFFFALL ....Youd be one of those cunts who knock the gear about...can tell....and your head would be banging off the top of the cab.....or your face all over the windscreen.......this guy's doing ok in my books.....so FUCK OFF JEFF OFF.!
ha noone mines like the aussies do, and noone has better equipment than komatsu(slighlty biased i know) ive worked on this stuff for a while now and komatsu haul pack trucks teamed with a big digger are an awesome sight.
not bad i operate a ex5500 hitachi and it's quicker than this and we move more dirt per hour than the figures claimed here. first operator on double flitch could work on a couple things but second guy is better - might have been sun in first guy's eyes too by look of reflections in windscreen. Cool vid though fella's.
i agree i only run a hitachi 1800 but they are fast. mine is an 01 so its got problems now.... that guy needs to stop reaching out all the way to fill that bucket dig closer to the tracks increase load times. booms up faster when the weight is closer to the machine and should be folding out the bucket droping dust before hes over the truck but at least hes close to the trucks (with the bucket) PRODUCTION loading is a bitch JEFFALL knows what im talking about
@godackgudalac1 Sounds like you the x in spert..bro..nothing wrong with production loading if your a good operator.....fucking more trucks the better....what do you do ?.....sit back and scratch your arse all day...and think up smart fucking comments.....while your trying to scratch the dirt with that toy.....you are playing on.?
you`d be surprized the amount of dirt a fleet of A40`s will move in a day!! nothing compared to this obviously!! but a very productive machine on motorway projects!! the company i drove the A40 for have a video of a pc5500 working in chile! E.P.S.A. is the name of the earth moving company!
i thought i was moving a lot of dirt with an A40D!! thats a big lookin dozer in the backround at 3:40 cat d10,11? is that a 24series Grader in the backround also!! nice operating that 5500!! smooth operator!!
we run a little hitachi with a loader bucket for triple 7's with bellys stripping top soil its garbage but it works look it up "hitachi 1800" its pays to hahaha
Yeah not too many use the brake. I do personally after the Komatsu trainer sat with me and explained why. Got so used to it that I was always looking for it when driving a Hitachi.
@gundiggerop . I've haven't seen a Hitachi with a foot slew pedal yet. Been on a series 6 5500 and series 6 8000 wthout them. Do they come on the smaller gear?
Won't disagree on the potential for the 5500 as they are 4cubes bigger per bucket than the PC5500.
On average the 3 PC5500's at this mine would hit 60K BCM for the day or the equivalent of 2 PH 4100 shovels. Not bad for a 29cube dipper. They were usually set up for Best Practise and with only 4 trucks per run set up to make alot of coin
He may be getting confused with the slew gear house brake or park brake as they are commonly referred too. Komatsu are the only OEM who utilise the slew brake foot pedal, the rest rely on CS. It has it's pro's and con's but overall it's a good safety feature in the event of e.g. loss of X2 pressure, fingered double check valve, Y59/Y60 malfunction etc since you still get the acumulator charge upon using.
Aussie? Looks like a Peabody sticker on the counterweight.
and JEFFFALL your a fuckin clown, Slow? you have obviously never seen one of these things working, they are slow you bloody twit, and if you care to look at his reflection in the windscreen you will notice he is sitting in his seat.
X2 on the clown comment. I worked at that mine with those diggers a few years ago and have been in the seat of them machines and the gent running it in the vid is doing i would say to about 85% of the best guys. They are double benching there and i dont see any dramas with his technique.Contractors make moving dirt an art, it is there business and what they get paid for.
Yeh man can dig. Short dipper arm so tons of breakout. ONly compromise is a little bit of reach but I'd sacrifice that for tear and breakout any day. We are getting a EX8000 in June in shovel config. any good??
Great vid and the soundtrack couldn't be better! I don't know much about mining, but from what I've read thats a perfect bench height. With the little stuff we run some tend to get ambitious and make them too high and that affects cycle time.
2 "Scoops" may have fitted in nicely but 2 buckets may have snapped the super super structure and left the thing sitting on its guts in the middle of the road. Point taken. Will tell the operator to wake up to himself.
What ore you are being loaded with decides how full you look. Iron ore is heavy, as is nickel. Bauxite(aluminium) is light and you look full. With my full 2 months experience driving CAT777, I cant see how full I look, I use VIMS, (vehicle information management system) 8/10 pushes on up arrow, when it says FULL LOAD I drive off. This excavator driver can load me any time, he's good. Scoops boy has no clue.
Spot on. The density of dirt at this place is about 2.4 tons per cubic metre of dirt(1m high x 1mdeep x1m wide) so the payload in the back is around 120 bcm or 290-300t and obviously much lighter for coal as it is only 1.4 tons per cube. VIMS is pretty good but the modular system takes it all to the next level. Good on you for using and knowing how to use VIMS not many bother. Cheers.
Pass just means each loaded bucket delviered into the tray of the truck for loading. Each load for this bucket and this machine is 50tons or 27 cars etc..
jeez that's bigger than my Cat 345D lc haha

Double benching for the oldschoolers and split benching for the ladies or double flitch for the engineers.
Just move the dirt.....
