@corti1973 It's a catalytic heater, once it's catalyst heats up it doesn't give off carbon monoxide, it's recommended to crack a window about 1/4 inch or so, but that has something to do with moisture or something. This is just what I read, so if you use one PLEASE don't go by this. Lol.
I have a westy. Turn the control switch panel on and the bottom LED is flame indicator for the fridge. Also, you didn't show the pilot view hole at the bottom of the fridge. You can look in it and see a red flame if the fridge is lit.
Jeff you do not leave anything uncovered, you are full of information and would love to leave England and move back to the states were I am from, Looked at the modern westfalia here in Germany and they are nice and not cheap. 39,000 euros plus shipping and who knows what the tariff would be. Mercedes bought VW out.
@CookenWithKilla ~There was wild turkey and a saw some deer. I parked inside the no hunting zone. It appeared to be turkey season and rifles were going off down below. Didn't need Rusty getting into trouble.
I have a 70 camper that came with an actual fridge. It's a Helsinki model bus. Haven't figured it out yet. Never saw another 70 with fridge and stove as this one has. I might try making my first video to show it.
LOL... been watching you for awhile.. finally subscribed today... after the PLEASE Un-suscribe rant.... LOL again.... in OUR Jalope it's a two person job.... I get to lay on the floor with a long lighter.... I LOVE the POOF..... NOT... propane... fun fun fun....
does your fridge get HELLA freezing cold... OR NOT.... we own a INSTA MATIC... still chugging along... amazing....
@shotgunpsycho ~21 yrs ago my former wife and myself, witnessed a UFO near Edwards AFB .Ca. Our 72 Westy was parked in the driveway though. We were home, and awoken at about 4am from the sound.
@JeffTheCanuck2 Try william r lyne on you tube, interesting interview on ufos.or his book pentagon aliens pdf on google (look for the free upload)he had a top secret air force clearance in intel and says they are military craft.
Jeff, Yesterday while out driving I saw a brownish Westfalia with 4WD painted on the driver's side. Looked like original paint, no dents, a near perfect specimin. Didn't know they were made in a 4WD version. ?
nice!!!!!! I just watched DEMCAD's vid on his bug-out bag.....thought about doin my own vid, since i dont think i have ever made one on some of the things i plan to use during an emergency or when shit hits the fan. ;p
Ohh shit, sorry for the second comment but- Do you need to open the valve under the fridge, i think it's a weep valve of some sort? It's a small cap with a ball chain on the lower left of the fridge.
@meatloafzombie ~I've seen that thing there with the red cap. I gave my owners manual away yrs ago to someone who bought my old westfalia diesel in 2008. Guess I should have read it more...lol..
Nice. How much propane does the fridge use, if you had it on constantly? Do you run it for a couple hours, then switch off for a few hours in a cycle to save LP?
@jknacasual ~I hardly ever ran the fridge solo. I used the heater nightly on low 8-10 hrs, with the fridge, and cooked twice a day on the stove. Hence, 12 days seemed to empty the propane tank. A would bet the fridge would work solo for much much longer. Maybe 3 weeks. The heater burns the fuel like mad on high.
In uk...If you find a parking place, people think you're a gypsy. You'll get hostility and moved on by the police & vandalised by the local youths, there's a real downer on Romany people in Europe.
You're lucky a fellah, you're free there and stealthy with it. nice ste up. Wish could do the same, not stuck in this apartment. That's why i subbed ya. And why i won't cancel that in answer to your previous 'dark rant' . :)
@Knaeckebrotsaege ~There is a green light below the water-level lights on my model, but I prefer a hands-on check, just to be certain it's working properly. There is also a peep-hole in the inside right-rear lower corner to see a flame burning. At 3am or whatever, you can also feel the left upper side for heat, next to the table, for a quick check during the night.
@westybus ~Sometimes you'll catch a used one on eBay for 150 bucks or less. My spare VW propane tank was found on Craigslist for free, so, keep your eyes open. Now is also a good time to find a used heater on eBay before winter sets in.
@JeffTheCanuck2 Problem is a 70 Westfalia has an icebox. I've been looking for a fridge that will fit into its place but the only one that fits is $600. I'll keep looking.

Jeff, QQQQ???. How do you keep that heater on in the cold with all the windows and doors closed up?. i'm missing something here.

Did the heater come stock with the van or is it just an add on?

Good vid Jeff! I was kind of curious how long you could go on a tank. I guess 12 days isn't so bad. Beautiful campsite!

@Kanuckbrewer Dude the 4wd (called the syncro) is awesome but so is the price tag. Just saw one here in MT and they were asking $28,000.
