I'll always love Mariah Carey for her incredible talent. I know we all miss "this" Mariah, but come on; the woman gave us SEVEN incredible albums in the 90's with pretty much no mediocre songs on them, and 18 #1 singles (and counting). It's a testament to her talent that we all want her voice to remain a thing of wonder. I admire her astonishing career, and no other singer has given me that goose bump rush of euphoria as she belts it out. She's given us so much, we shouldn't complain.

Why doesn't everyone just record your own voice and then listen back to it 20yrs later and you're voice will have changed too, Xtina's, Beyonce's etc will sound different too. Aretha doesn't sound the same as when she was in her 20's she herself has stated that her weight effects her voice and there's a certain weight that she feels her voice was at her best, even a woman's monthly affects the vocals.
I don't know what happened to her.... I think now she still has talented, but her fame and moeny has gotten to her head that she's unreal now. people... this was 20 years ago! get over it, no one could ever, ever keep that kind of voice for 20 years. That's true. I'm just glad we have so much footage from when she had this voice. Because I can't enjoy her music now. For me it's not so much her losing her voice, it's that the quality of her songs is just not good.
Look ddeiana, your right, as time goes, the voice changes but there are many ways it can change. As you sad, celine cant reach the same notes, but look for song like 'i love you more' from this year or the last one, taken by amateur camera. That's not the original key, but still AMAZING.

@ddeiana Barbara Streisand can still do it! And Celine can still do it too! The difference is that while they may be Divas, they are focused on their music as opposed to their appearance.
Celine lips and Barbra's songs aren't as demanding as Mariah's, neither are Celine's for that matter. And Celine was much more careful not to ruin her voice, so she traveled with a throat doctor, which is a bit extreme. It's normal for a voice to decline, as Celine's has to an extent, but usually not as noticeably as Mariah's.

Amazing performance! Especially 3:03 is absolutely incredible! It´s quite hard going from low to that high without breathing. And she did it with ease! Believe me there are not many singers who can do that.

Amazing performance! Especially 3:03 is absolutely incredible! It´s quite hard going from low to that high without breathing. And she did it with ease! Believe me there are not many singers who can do that.
