Retirment is a sensitive issue. I fight MMA (on the amateur level) and would like to fight pro soon. Im 30 years old and constantly wondering how long I can fight for. Once you hit your 30's you never know how far your fight career will go. Some max out in their late 20's like Mike Tyson and Fernando Vargas others can be successful untill their 40's like Hopkins, Foreman and the most impressive is Randy Couture still fighting at 46. Youth should never be taken for granted

He seemed to love boxing and wanted to promote it in general then. He took pride of his roots of being Mexican but he also seemed to take pride in his home of being then an water American. Retirment is a sensitive issue. I fight MMA (on the amateur level) and would like to fight pro soon. Im 30 years old and constantly wondering how long I can fight for. Once you hit your 30's you never know how far your fight career will go. Some max out in their late 20's like Mike Tyson and Fernando Vargas others can be successful untill their 40's like Hopkins, Foreman and the most impressive is Randy Couture still fighting at 46. Youth should never be taken for granted

His critics said he never won against his top knotch opponents but he was screwed over in some of his big fights (the Trinidad & the 2nd Mosely fight). He may have retired but his fighting legacy will always live on.

He won a gold medal at the 1992 olympics an he has defeated 17 world champions. He was a genuine guy out the ring and thats why he was a peoples champ. He had one of the baddest left hooks going. He won the 2nd Mosley fight and Trinidad fight but lost to Sturm because that just wasn't his weight. I wish he retired before the Pacquiao fight so it could be easier for him. He deserves a rediculous amount of credit for what hes done in and out the ring.

His legacy will live for a long time and people will have a very hard time trying to achieve what he has. I was gutted when he lost to Pacquiao because I knew it was the end for him and I wasn't shocked when he announced his retirement because he did need to do this. Oscar De La Hoya is a legend. To win 10 world titles in 6 different weight classes is amazing and not many fighters could do and achieve what he has. People rip him off about the Pacquiao fight but it will eventually happen in everyone unless they retire at their best. He is one of the best things that has ever happened to boxing because he has contributed so much by fighting and also promoting. Not many fighters have again done that.

the reason why dirty flipos rip on delahoya is because they wish manny would be the same as delahoya but he will never come close, Delahoya has light yrs ahead of manny. Flipos suffer from a ridiculous amount of jeaulosy towards the latino culture. Anything that latinos do they criticize and envy with all their heart. Now I do criticize delahoya for quitting of fighting the way he fought against manny. His team should have made sure that he was not drained, if that was the case. I doubt it.

Oscar used to be a boxer towards the end of hi career he had like 1 fight every 2 years that's not a fighter. Manny Pac has like 3 now thats a boxer. But in the beginning of his career he was the best fast smart he new what he was doing and he will be a boxing legend for all time.
