Agathis wood are very close to Alder wood (think fender tone). Mahogany gives a more darker tone. These basic BTB 200's have a nice tone if you don't use the phat boost. Also the DX pickups lend themselves well to distortion. JUST REMEMBER to check if all the screws are tightened. That will improve sustain. I've got a BTB 775PB, but prefer the bolt-on neck BTB300FM for slappin.
