  • Great, great stuff. Loved him back in the early 70's as I discovered my parents record collection. I played his albums more then my parents! Lost treasures.

  • so it's mimed.... still great though!

  • Yup, prerecorded. You'd never pick up the trumpets properly with them swinging past the mics.

  • Too bad it's playback. Look at the drummer. He is playing with brushes, although clearly the Drums sound like they are played with sticks. The trumpet players don't blow the trumpets (you can see because their cheecks don't move at all throughout the entire thing), and it sounds 100% like the studio recording.

  • @michaeladams94 it's pre-recorded but he's using brushes in the studio as well.

  • Is that Raquel Mclish in the video?

  • What a cool vibe and place to jam.

  • start at 1:03 and watch the guy playing maracas push away the guitar player

  • I believe this one was filmed in 1967 in the Tijuana Bullring. I think it was because I was there! We loved HA & the TJB! Thank you!

  • Herb and Lani own a Restaurant/Nightclub in Bel Air California where they occasionally perform. I would love to see them live someday. Herb's contribution to music is timeless. Lani's amazing talent starting with her hits with Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 is notable. What a marriage they have in so many ways.

  • I know it's a bullfighting ring..But where was this taken?? What city?

  • musica si, toreros no.

  • I picked up the guitar, piano, drums, bass pretty easy, but let me tell you, you got to be in good shape to play a trumpet. I mean lungs like a jogger, good blood pressure. My trumpet sits standing up on the speaker.

Maybe if I get some lessons, I maybe blowing too hard.

  • The world will never witness the likes of this ever again, how sad.

  • In a bull fighting ring.

  • Was this from 1965 or 1967??

  • So sad that bullfighting arena is no longer there.

  • imo the sound of Herb Alpert & co always epitomizes some of that laid back 1960s cool that I so wish I was part of.

  • @CelticAsian you probably know this already, but there's a similar vibe to be had from julius wechter and the baja marimba band.

  • @wallofvideo Yes, Julius actually started out with the TJB and branched off. They were also on A& Records so it was a win-win fro Herb. I do notice the lack of marimba in this concert video. Kind of a shame when you figure there were probably dozens of excellent marimba players in that city needing work that day, and back then the marimba groups that played in hotels knew a lot of the TJB standard hits of the era. Thanks for the video, hoping to find this on DVD.

  • @HunterMann well, credit where credit is due, thegoochman posted it, not me. but yeah, i'm still waiting for someone to post a copy of that baja marimba album with the cover that shows the band on a canoe crossing the rio grande in the style of washington crossing the delaware. a lot of good stuff they put out.

  • A real classic love it!

  • i've always liked herb & the tjb. my understanding is that back in the mid-60s they were really big among the thirtysomethings. is that accurate?

  • @wallofvideo Yes, you're right. My parents, in their 30s then, were both huge fans. From listening to my folks play their TJB albums, I became a big fan too. I still am, 45 years later.

  • Que maravilla.

  • love the music and the band

  • The cartels run all that area now. Very depressing.......Peace amigos.....Juan Oskar

  • I was there @ this Concert

  • As a 10 year-old, I watched this show. Even at that young age, I loved Herb Alpert's music.

  • No cables on the microphones. Synch - live fail!! Still, great song - great band!

  • Gee, nice of Edmondson to just shove John Pisano backwards like that at 1:08.

  • @wannawatchu66 Edmondson was the clown of the group. He was always doing stuff like that.

  • @THeMaskedBlogCritic Oh, I know, I was just kiddin' around. Yeah, Edmondson was the court jester of the Tijuana Brass, all right. 'Course, they always did stuff that was slightly tongue in cheek. Like the Slick video they filmed at Fairfax High, where Bob dove into the swimming pool with the girls--FULLY CLOTHED. Whenever they filmed videos or did TV specials, they never took themselves too seriously--except when they were playing: that's when they were all business.

  • Nick Ceroli is my favorite drummer. The Brass wouldn't sound the same without him.

  • Had to look to see what TeaBerry Gum is and what is the TeaBerry Gum Shuffle, there is a YouTube Video of the old advertisement

  • I have been a fan all my life. Memories of backyard barbies with family and friends in the backyard on a Sunday. TBrass blaring from the pye stereo!! Ha! Mum wearing her kaftan and dad in his bermuda shorts and long woollen socks (in summer). The origianl little portable fire burning bbq's of the day - aaah yes ..1965. Twas a great time to be alive. I was 5...I play the same ol songs today at my bbqs and when i m doing the housework. Gorgeous music. Thanks HAand TB band for fabulous memories.

  • este video fue filmado en el antiguo toreo de tijuana ... k orgullo

  • This man was fine in his prime! The legendary Herb Alpert!

  • I can't hear this song without thinking of Clark's Teaberry gum.

  • In Jankee Stadium!!!

  • that "plaza" was in tijuana and in fact no one of the tijuana brass was mexican but they loved mexico i guess so

  • MARAVILHA!

Anos 60, tempo de romantismo, tempo das tertúlias!

    Quanta saudade! Bjs

  • LA BUENA MUSIKA NO TIENE TIEMPO NI LUGAR,HerB ALpeRT es un maestro!!!!

salud y es muy bueno eskucharlos kon un eskoces kon hielo

  • A CLASSIC LIVES ON! Un clasico viva siempre!

  • gran artista muy querido por los mexicanos y tambien su maravillosa esposa Lani Hall.

  • si de hecho no estan en el DF ES EN TIJUANA BAJA CALIFORNIA.

  • This is awesome whoever you are! Love Herb and the TJB.

  • que bueno

  • Everyone, do the TEABURRY gum shuffle !!

  • @raybin05 TEABERRY. not teaburry

  • @raybin05 I was 8 years old when this came out and I can do the teaberry shuffle to this day!

  • One of my favorite trumpet players of those times.

  • @zoomlenz4u One of my favorite trumpet players EVAR!

  • exell- entay

  • 40,000 Mexicans watching Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass????? WOW

  • @rmls11

and yet, there was no Mexican in the Tijuana Brass.

at least, that's what I heard.

  • @simhopp At least 4 of them were Italian: Lou Pagani, the pianist; Pat Senatore, the bass player; Nick Ceroli, drummer; and John Pisano, guitarist. Don't know about Tonni Kalash or Bob Edmonson, though (2nd trumpet and trombone, respectively). Herb's Jewish.

  • @wannawatchu66

exactly, Kalash, Edmonson, obviously not Mexican surnames.

  • @wannawatchu66 I read on Wikipedia that almost the whole group was/is Italian or Jewish, and Tonni Kalash is Jewish like Herb. The only one whose ethnicity I don't see written anywhere is Bob Edmondson. I remember my uncle gave me a whole bunch of their records when I was a kid and I thought they were all Mexican. Watching them perform live like this makes me remember how alive and happy their music made me feel.

  • I received the 45 rpm from the fan club in the mid sixties. thank you for posting.

    Joe.

  • This, of course, is 'lip synched' (without vocals, of course). Notice the mic inputs (the heel of the mic where the cord, be it a three or five prong plug, whatever the case) doesn't have cords hooked up. And this, of course was years and years before wireless. Regardless, great tune by a group of awesome musicians...all 7 of them, not just Alpert.

  • Three pastramis, two bagels and an American cheese.

  • Nice write-up. Bet that was a great show. Thanks for the video.

  • I love Herb Alpert & The TJB. My favorite song is "Brasilia" Can't find the video on here?

  • look at 1:07. the guy playing the morocco's gives the guitarist a good shove to the back. hahahahahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • 8-Track in the Chrysler Lebaron station wagon going to school or Grandma's house - driving down 101. Back when we still had 'blood alley' near Gilroy.

Sure was a good sound coming out back then.

  • Wow!! That's terrific music.. Thanks..

  • Deal up ands Shuffler

  • GIGANTIC CROWD

  • Yup

  • Was this clip from a tv special, tv show, or a music video? It's great!

  • Is this really Herb Alpert? The legend?

  • WOW

  • pla-pla-pla-playback.

  • I remember hearing this all the time on the tv as a kid back in the 60's from Teaberry Gum commercials (Teaberry Shuffle), thanks to Teaberry Gum Herb Alpert really gained some popularity.

  • I am glad I am not the only one who remembers this song for Clark's Teaberry Gum. What a great song!

  • hah, the Teaberry Shuffle!!

  • The TJB are amazing and I love this rare look at them in concert. I don't want to break anyone's bubble, but ... they're lip-syncing the entire song.

  • @mystagogyman

Typical of too many acts on Variety shows like those.

  • This is the best of Herp's. Salutes to them.

    Are they still around?

  • Love this video and all of videos of Herb Alpert.
