There is a primary coil, which generates a magnetic field. Then there is another secondary coil which is composed of a capacitor and a coil, the capacitor creates a resonant circuit with the primary and secondary coils.... Come on this should be in the drawing board. i agree WASTE OF MONEY!

It is A LOT cheaper at Amazon.com. I plan on buying this soon for me and my boyfriend. The reciever is alot less chunky and sleek than the one for the Iphone. It fits the same as the original back cover for the Evo.

This is worse than just using the cord. what if you want to use your phone while charging? Then you will have to hold the power mat and the phone at the same time. Power mat is useless. I would rather use a cord charger any day.

The portable one is more useful. Cause if you travel a lot you tend to forget one of your chargers and this fixes the problem. And if you're in a motor home or trailer with power and there's one outlet and 4 people, works really good.

The only one that i like is the touch stone for palm Because the case to charge is normal looking and its easy to use. The powermat isn't very practical and is more of a novelty item and just something cool to own. but the technology has much potential!

I got my powermat at Fry's electronics for 40 bucks! it was 89.99 before and they cleared them out at 40 bucks! guess they couldn't sell them at 90 bucks lol!! I would of never bought it at that much...but 40 is much better!!

If future consumer items have inbuilt wireless chargers, and the powermat was built more like a little bookshelf, the sheer convenience of that combination would make this a true winner.

This is a step in the right direction, but seems to need a bit more development.

Just to clarify here.

If the device shows promise in the current market companies only have to add a tiny wire antennae to the interior of their devices, costing maybe .0001 cents extra, to make it wireless ready.

So currently, there are no devices with this antennae, but in the coming months you may see more and more devices with this ability. Then you will be able to just plop your phones, cameras, etc onto this pad and it will charge.
