Yes, but you will be just reinstalling the custom firmware on your PSP. I am not sure what you mean by "erase". If you are referring to the Magic Memory Stick, you can just back up the files on to your computer, or leave the files on the memory stick, and use the memory stick after you flash the PSP and install the custom firmware.

With saved games, you can back them up on your computer in a folder and then after you install the custom firmware, you can put the files back on the memory stick.

If you are not sure if you want to make one, I would buy one. Look on Ebay and other online stores, some company's make them to sell online.

Nope, doesn't matter. Because you are going to be flashing the firmware, it will be erased and it won't matter.

Yes you need it. That is how you put the files into the PSP. There may be other methods now to put the files on the psp via USB, but they only way I know is to use a Magic Memory Stick

Ok, I have a Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory stick. I install 3.71 m33 ( Basically I pressed X ) After that is says press x to shutdown. I do. I plug in my other battery and it loads up, After it says "Sony computer entertainment" it freezes right when it shows the date and battery power in the top right screen. Any ideas on whats wrong?

Any size of a memory stick will work. You can delete the files after you make it a magic memory stick and use it as a regular stick as well. I use 2 sticks. One for my storage (2gig) and one for my magic memory stick (512mb).

A minimum of 128mb is needed for a magic memory stick. The Custom FireWare goes onto the magic memory stick, not the one you are going to use on a regular basis.

All the PSP files will be flashed (formatted/deleted) when you flash the PSP. It ONLY does this for the firmware. So yes, you will still be able to watch or play your UMD disks and you will be able to basically do whatever you want.

If you shut down the PSP, then hold the right button down on top of the PSP while turning it on, this will bring you to the Recovery Menu. Goto the Configuration menu and change the UMD Mode to: "M33 Driver -NO UMD-".

If you have a PSP that has a a Firmware higher than 4.01, then you will need to use Pandora's Battery. There are other methods such as using certain games to hack the PSP with lower Firmware, but if the Firmware is above 4.01, you will need to use Pandora's Battery.
