@Tomislav95og But Labrie's voice has been getting worse over time. You can't really deny that. A lot of singer's ain't that great live, it's just something that happens to your voice when you're singing consistently on the road. I'm not saying he can't sing, but he just isn't as good as he used to be. Other than the singing, it's brilliant.

@engraveddrummer Dude, Labrie did awesome here. He's just pronouncing things kind of funny, but that's a stylistic issue. Pitches are pretty on point, and the quality/tonality is there. He kicked ass in this performance.

@OlhuscOmuns ok, maybe hard for a beginner drummer.. but for the average drummer its easy (if you mean that moment with hi-hat and octobans).. Mangini is a great drummer, but it doesn't mean that he always play unbelievable stuff ;-)

p.s. sorry i cant demonstrate, because i dont have octobans (joke)).. dont have my own drums, and i temporarily don't play already a year.. for that i need to go to rehearsal studio.. take camera and film that 5 sec. moment (it's stupid..) so just believe me;)

Mangini's got a better pocket. I've been listening to him since videos started showing up, and his snare is right on the beat as opposed to slightly behind with Portnoy. It never bothers me, in fact, it's quite reminiscent of John Bonham's consistent position just on the back side of the beat with his snare drum. I think it's what made Bonzo so heavy, and I think that attributes heavily to MP's "heavier" sound in comparison to MM.

Im used to Portnoy being there and in my heart there's no replacing him however I just bought the new album and I have to say I am very impressed with Mangini's style although you can hear a little bit of Portnoy in his playing....very little mind u but I can hear it.

@Sabianman0609 He did and HAS replaced Portnoy. The keyboardist I play w/ grew up w/ Portnoy, he's turned into a douche over the last 10 years or so. A bassist I play w/ on the other hand, played w/ Mangini in a side project recently, and he's the total opposite of a douche. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. After all that's been said, Mangini runs circles around Portnoy...HANDS DOWN!

It's kinda ironic how random youtube videos from camcorders often sound better than being at concerts - often the sound is so loud (and therefore muddy to the ears) that it's hard to hear what is being played. I saw Prince yesterday, and at some parts of the concert I was unable to hear which song they were playing. I would love being able to listen to concerts through headphones, seeing the band and getting the sound I would want!

It was captured on the DSLR Canon EOS 60D. I've made a sound correction (just a little, only equalizer), because built-in microfone is not good enough for such cases.
