This one was a strong contender when I was knife shopping .. I am working on fixing the edge on my TFI .. It's coming along .. Great vid as always sir :)
@ER720 Thanks mate, I'm sure if you reprofile that TFI it will be much improved. With the thicker blade it should be well worth the effort. Thanks for stopping by.
Great video. I ususally have to file off the ends on most of hte fixed blades, becuase when I choke up they cut my fingers. I always send the makers a curse. I can't believe the people that are designing these knives. They must be stuck in an office all day. I would like to have them choke up and get bit by their own desings. I am stuck on a decision. I am considering a KA-BAR large. like a 1211, versus this knife. Which one would you recommend?
@mikedifeo I guess it depends what you want the knife for, and personal preference of course. To me this knife is a better all round outdoors blade, so I would take it over the KA-BAR. However for a soldier the KA-BAR might be a better choice.
@NoBSSurvival I have to put some more use on it yet. The way things are lately it might still be a while. Damn work is really cutting into my quality time!
@CliffStamp It does get quite slick. The shape does help hold in in hand, gloves help even more. I'd say it would be easy to roughen up the micarta or maybe groove it a bit to increase traction. Hmmm, another project perhaps?
@CliffStamp Hi Cliff, yes those are still photos I've taken here and there. We do have some great country, but I think everyone does if they go look for it. In the USA I see guys in high altitute snow and mountain, Scotland has the amazing highlands that Colin shows us. I just hope to get more time this year to get out there instead of working. As for the handle, I'm not sure if i will do it as I'm pretty happy as is. If I do which would be the best way to go? Suggestions welcome.
@AussieMark909 No worries if it works for you keep it exactly like it is, no modification. Would be nice to see an update after a year or so see how the coating holds up, any loosening of the grip, issues with the case, etc. .
Its funny how we always blame the blade when we cut ourselves isn't it :-)
It probably has something to do with the amount of blood and the suprising amount of pain involved, especially the small cuts. Seriously though, the RAT-7, seem to live up - to the good things most people say about it!
@Optionsaregood It was the blades fault, honest! The way you see that choil now is exactly how my RAT 3 arrived, so I just copied that. Very easy fix, and it took less time to do than the time it took that little cut to stop bleeding all over the place :)
Its finally here! To ontarios credit though I think they've slightly improved the OA quality of their blades. Such as the blades are now lazer engraved, micarta seems to be finnished of better and the screws are now flush and not half sticking out. Keep the reviews coming mate and hope you had a good Australia day.
@TheRATPT01 Yeah I had to get this vid out there. This guy was nagging me about it lol. I like the Ontario stuff I have, quality is good, and the pricing is even better. I would happily pay more for a better sheath, I'd bet that most people would too. Thanks for watching mate.
"Bled like a complete bastard" - great Aussie way of saying it.
Great vid mate.

Nice review, and good job on reprofiling the cutting edge. The Kydex sheath looks really awesome too. Seems to be the total outdoor package.

@AussieMark909 I would be interested to see an update handle video if you had the time after you worked with it.
By the way are all those images in the introduction of local country, if so you have a lot of beautiful outdoors there.
