  • This is absolutely amazing but where in the devils name is the solo?

  • i used to sing this song to the twins when i would change their diapers. they would stop crying and stare it me. as they grew and i sang at bath times, or potty times and bed times, they started singing with me by about age 1 and a half. all songs like this. i sang this song to them the last time i saw them. they were 2 and a half. both in my arms staring up at me as i sang, trying not to cry. thank you dave.

i miss you my babies. will always miss you.

  • Amazing but oh no...he left off the best part

  • Seem to me. Seem to me. It was a great interpretation.

  • This song makes me think of memories of things never happened ...

  • of course Dave is the Best!!!!!, thanks for sharing!!!!

  • Beautiful. Brings tears to the eyes.

  • Just goes to show that, though not prolific, Gilmour could write a great song every now and then (as if we didn't already know), and could even write good lyrics (see also "Childhood's End" from Obscured By Clouds). As for the 'Who's Pink' squabbles, it sad that fans keep engaging in them even as the surviving Floyds finally move beyond such pettiness.

  • Syd>Creativity-Wild-free

    Roger> Artistically Genius-Crazy

    Rick> Great Talent-Shy and controlled

    Nick> Perfectionist-perfect in his art

    Gilmour>Pure Talent-Geniune and A Gentleman

All> (The) Pink Floyd-Greatest of all Time.

  • why is Russell Crowe playing the guitar behind Gilmour?

  • Waters does big show during concert. Mr. David Gilmour dosen't do that, that why is better. And that guy who looks like homo and trys to play gilmour solos and he fails it.

  • David is a true romantic which is why in the long run he's better for the soul than waters

  • no solo?!? what a gip!!!

  • Strut your stuff even if you're older. Lovin my Shape Ups by Skechers! Got FREE shipping, great price and 10 discount! Check it out on my channel.

  • david gilmor che dire

  • I remember him singing this when he was 24. If only he had known then he would be signing it just as well 40 years later... voice of velvet and grace

    :-))

  • VERRY NICE

  • Dammit! where's the solo!

  • buenos recuerdos en mi vida

  • yh they did coz i threw garlic at them coz they kept going this sucks and spat in the face

  • hehehehe ; )

  • Amo a este hombre

  • yh they did but it was mostly the teachers who cried

  • i sang this at my talent show and i won

  • Gilmour sometimes resembles north american actor Brian Dennehy.

  • they missed the fucking solo

  • one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs :'-)

  • ohhhhhhhh :' )

  • creo que si solraclic. es una canta viejito.

  • Bellísimo. Estaba en Atom Heart Mother?

  • What a tremendous version of this song!

    Genious!

  • Simplesmente quanto mais velho melhor...É igual vinho!!!

  • very nice song....

  • best ever

    (PFF)

  • You don't get any better.

  • La kgo, maravilloso gilmour... buenisimo!

  • Gilmour's tunes are so packed with emotion. This man conveys so much with his singing and music.

  • absolute legend i wish i could have a jam with this guy just to soak up the experience and sheer talent. what a guy

  • music is not competition folks - just enjoy or leave it

  • I'm sick to death of people saying Gilmour is a second fiddle to Waters or Barrett. Gilmour is a unique and amazing talent and can write about more than angst and childhood regrets. Nothing against Waters, but I thought the new direction taken on 'Momentary Lapse' was a breath of fresh air. Floyd Mach 3 is just as viable as any of the older stuff and it reached a whole new audience with it's fresh, positive perspective. Long live David Gilmour!

  • Agreed. Gilmour's definetly on par with those guys talent wise. Where would the Floyd legacy be if they hadn't recruited dave? They probably would've just broke up the band. I think Dave and Roger worked best as a duo. The solo stuff each of them have put out pales in comparison to the stuff they wrote as a duo.

  • Agree.

  • I couldn't agree more and i'm sick of this crap saying Gilmour can't play fast too. He plays every note with feeling and conviction. And in his 60's he's only getting better. I'm sure he feels grief over Richard's death as well. Thanks for so many years of good music Dave !!

  • Momentary Lapse of Reason is a mediocre album by PF standards. Without Waters and/or Barrett Pink Floyd is a surrogate band.

  • @FranzJosefHidin - good singer, great guitarist...not so great songwriter.

  • @pbl1 He may not have been as good as Waters, but he was still a brilliant lyricist.

  • @FranzJosefHidin Gilmour heart and soul of Pink Floyd.......

  • @FranzJosefHidin So very true ...until very recently i had thought the same...but the more you discover his work ... the more Respect he earns...!

  • The perspective you touched is true.Even though I believed they were complementary to each other, soemtimes changes have to be made .Roger is definitely the master of lyrics, however I find Gilmour's music ...the kind which digs in your senses to bring out the best in you.His music is that of high hopes and will constantly echoe in the bells of history!Long live David Gilmour

    Anissa Rahal

  • @FranzJosefHidin i prefer the division bell and on an island but prefer a momentary laps more then the wall. the wall was misery dark while laps was interesting dark. with music that melts the heart on onthe turning away or music that pulls one down into the depts of the himan mind with sorrow. music depts that where not reached with the wall though the wall did have its moments. the drpts that dave reaches with his solos are only those reachable by pure emotion.

  • @FranzJosefHidin I agree. Gilmour is no Phil Collins (minus Gabriel era) heading off into commercial land. As I recall, when Gilmour joined Floyd, he was the "new guy" who knew about songwriting, and thus the influence on their post experimental work. This great combination was the magic which made Pink Floyd fly to the Dark Side of the Moon and beyond. I see Waters as bickering about the singer getting all the attention, I don't know why, cuz he can hold his own. Same old story with bands.

  • sing to me...sing to me!!!

  • the most magical version of an already magical song. it makes me think of being on the beach with my twins on a hot summer evening. the backround vocals are just enchanting and the fact that they keep the beat durring the entire song vs dropping the beat on other versions makes theis the best. all it's missing is the organs. this is the roots of the great division bell. floyd made full circle. started with magic, left into real world and in the end returned to magic.

  • I wonder are there anybody who makes great music on the guitar like david gilmour and iwonder who is gonna be the next david gilmour who does not exactly copy him but creates similar but individualistic music on the guitar with the same psychadellic dream like quality ..

  • I want to be the next david gilmour, but I can't even hold a candle to him because he is amazing.

  • some1 will come along. hendrix was great and then came dave. maybe not anytime soon but some1 will come that even dave will be proud to watch.

  • I would rather meet David, and have a Jam session with him. As he is still the most Influential over the past 20 years.

Syd lasted the pshycedelic are. And was an unfortunate loss. I know many that also lost there minds from a bad trip or one to many. I enjoy the Floyd far more post Syd-era as it was much more structured, melodic and Floyd as we know them. And David and Roger were the main factors. Rick and nick also had deep impact on the mood and sound. Like i said, David tought Syd guitar.

  • remember that David Also taught SYD how to play guitar in school. So his influence was aleady there in how syd wrote and played. That was even before the floyd.

  • syd and roger started the band so nothin said both legends waters and gilmour syd is a genuis aswell hes got a bike u can ride it if u like !

  • Without Gilmour, Bob Ezrin and Micheal Kamen the wall never would of been. it woul dof been a rogers water half assed album. Same as the final Cut.

  • the final cut is amazin album u dick

so is every pink floyd album and song

same with gilmour and waters solo there both amazing if u wanna talk shit on yea go but sid barret and waters started it all gilmour came in during sids badtrip spell

  • Your comment was biting but true. You can tell by my nick how much of a Waters fan I am. Gilmour added the psychedelic guitar to the psychedelic band Floyd. Bob Ezrin and Micheal Kamen I respect deeply for what they helped to create. Syd (RIP), sadly, burnt out after a few hit songs and a long list of material few will come to appreciate (I SURE DO!). Lol at the guy calling you a dick who can't spell Syd's name.

  • Get lost. The Wall and The Final Cut are absolute Roger Waters concept and music. Gilmour was the guitar player. It's for itcurry. Peace.

  • To be honest thats why i dont really rate those albums. The Gilmour/Waters balance had been tipped to far one way.

  • David Gilmour is the Pied Piper...I'd follow him anywhere...

  • amazing song

  • This is a fabtastic version of a beautiful song, but I have to say, I kind of miss the awesome guitar solo at the end...

  • Never the same without it... almost Hendrilike. Absolutely beautiful. Frankly, his songwriting was really overshadowed with Waters' stuff; if you think about it, the tracks on "The Wall" which really stand out are often co-written by Gilmour (Comfortably Numb being one of those, obviously!). His stuff was, and still is, absolutely gorgeous.

  • fat old sun and summer 68 r pink floyd treasures.greatest band of all time

  • i always loved those two songs floydman. this is the best version of fat old sun ive heard. very beautifully done.

  • Have you heard the Royal Albert Hall version? It has an incredible guitar solo.

    Here: watch?v=C0YANM9lz4c

  • listen to the montreux one

that blew my head away, my personal favorite

but this ones more peaceful, and i love it!!!

  • I found atom heart mother in my CD collection and have been playing this in the traffic queue on the A27 every moning. so peaceful, to look out on the sussex country side in between driving forward another 50 m... makes me forget the roadworks...

  • david gilmore kicks ass on acoustic or electric truly a marvel

  • and dont forget that steel guitar he cranks on as well

  • the only reason I live for is music and Pink Floyd is THE MUSIC...above everything!

  • This man is a genius. True legend.

  • The genius behind floyd at his best as usual.

  • this song is so soothing

  • Thank-you Mr. Gilmour, for adding fullness to my life in the same generation. You have indeed left the world a better place! Your good spirit emanates.

  • hes not dead you know....

  • Wisdom comes with age; but sometimes, age comes alone. As it gathers, priorities and pondrances evolve. The future is no longer forever. Gilmour's talent and good spirit has made this world a better place.

  • well observed :D

  • fat old Gilmour......but fantastic ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Dave Gilmour is a god to me, but your comment cracked me up anyway.

  • amazing

  • PERFEITO

  • what a voice... he still has it. amazing.

  • Beautiful. ...but... That solo, man... Should have been slinging dualies or something, Dave. Gotta get that priceless solo in there.

  • guys, i'm not ragging on pink floyd or anything.. but

don't overlisten to this band! the music is amazing, but you'll tire yourself with it and grow out of it, instead of keeping it with you. so listen to other stuff to please, to keep pink floyd alive.. even though that probably makes no sense

  • No, it all makes perfect sense (to quote Roger Waters). I love Pink Floyd, but it's been years since I listened to them more than casually (except to prime myself for Waters' solo concert at the Hollywood Bowl a few months ago). I don't want to burn out on them, I want to enjoy them the rest of my life!

  • just what i want to do

  • Chucho Merchán on bass..Chucho, te amo! (come on David, come again to Colombia!)

  • if you ever wana hear what an angels voice sounds like listen to mr gilmour sing.

  • he is lovely!!!

  • just listen to this guy singing, if this is not absolutely perfect is pretty close. This song could easily have made the album echoes the best of pink floyd. Not that another brick in the wall part 1, 2 and 3 isn't good enough, but this would be one good song to have on that CD, no doubt. and another one from Obscured by Clouds Wots.. a deal is also fantastic. best band ever

  • The best part of this song is the guitar solo at the end. Why would he ever cut that out

  • they took it out because HES PLAYING ON AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR NOT ELECTRIC, IDIOT

  • That didn't stop David from playing the solo in 'Coming Back To Life' on an acoustic, cut this guy some slack, he was just commenting on the video, you reply with an immature comment, trying to insult him when really you're the idiot, because you dont really know wat you are talking about, its quite possible to pull off a solo on an acoustic, making it sound like an electric!

  • If its cuz its not an electric, maybe they should cut out the solo when they play Wish You Were Here.

  • beautiful song...one of my favorites

  • i agree... but it is my FAVOURITE! just taken over WYWH.. what an amazing voice David has

  • ya i have to agree atom heart mother is deffinaently not weak by any means, i prefer the 70-77 floyd era, the wall destroyed the band in some terms

  • Agreed completely. Fat Old Sun is a gem, as is the first 4 songs of Atom Heart Mother.

From Atom Heart Mother to Wish You Were Here was the best period of music making by Pink Floyd. After Waters took creative control of the band it really took a turn.

  • Gorgeous song. Why the hell wasn't it on their greatest hits. It damn well should have been!

  • Best song on a fairly weak album. I really would like to see him perform more from the Meddle/Obscured By Clouds/Atom heart Mother period. They got some keepers in there.

  • Atom heart mother is NOT a weak album.

but yea, Fat old sun is one of the best..

  • David Gilmour tried really hard to get it on "Echoes: The Best Of Pink Floyd" ... but it got outvoted by the rest if the band.

It's a shame, because it's one of my favorite less mainstream songs.

  • i love this song, love to see him still performing the oldies that not many have heard, usually its all darkside and the wall that you hear

  • favorite song

  • one of the best PK works.... so beautiful, sweet, a bit bitter sweet and psychedelic... it broight me a lot of imaginations when I was s high school kid. Marvellous song!

  • I personally think its refreshing to see someone famous who isnt obsessed with their appearance.

    Gilmour is my hero!

  • He is more beautiful now...

  • He was once so beautiful, he had the body of a God, he is God of the guitar. He got so old and fat...

oh well, nothing lasts forever...shine on.

  • awesome voice....so sentimental...straight from the heart..

  • Fat old cunt.

  • WTF MAN?!

  • It was a clever play on words.

  • I hope you're not knocking Fat Old Sun/Pink Floyd/David Gilmour

  • Don't worry!

  • cool
