Eh, JSU and SU version is even. I dont like how SU gave that rhythm to the trumpets, their version still sounded good. JSU did the right thing giving it to the trombones and the low brass (it sounds better that way) but i'm a bit disappointed with the high brass in this version (didnt like it) Don't get me wrong, this still sounds good. So, eh it's even between the two.
@mutumbu1985 I love UAPB... i do agree that they have the best writers in the swac, but what was up with their song selection when they played JSU... it was just horrible. i was at the game waiting for uapb to blow back, but they were just playing gospel music..I love gospel music, but not at a football game.. UAPB TUBA's are BEAST... i was really inpressed.... wish i could of heard Quickie from them, but i guess there song book isnt as thick as i thought.
@williams2177 No their book is still strong as ever. Its the directors that control the song selection. PB is much stronger with their sound this year. If it were up to them, they would have definitely gone blow for blow with JSU. That would have been a very interesting battle
@TheNikeboy5 I think the swac has great tuba sections(PV,TXSU,UAPB,GSU.JSU,SU, but if i had to say that there were 2 tuba sections that stand out it would be MSVU, and TXSU i think there the most polished but within the HBCU's i have to give it to Virgina State... Just type in VSU tubas and you'll see what im talking about.... But no tuba section in the south just clearly dominates.
