Why does it say seal in the title? Seals and sea lions are two very different animals.

LOL! seals are so cute. when i went to the zoo once, there was a seal floating on its back in the water, and i poured water from my water bottle into the tank area, and the seal opened its mouth and drank the water. funniest thing ever.

too bad, in Canada it's legal to slaughter seals for their fur 3/4 of them are killed each year. and they are slaughtered while their conscious. :[

That's the one thing I hate about Canada. Other than that, I think Canada is a great country. Just wish they would stop the senseless killings of seals. :(

@Mango38 Most people in canada that hunt seals are subsistence hunters. Just simply doing what their ancestors did, and they would prefer a harsh life like this to a lazy life like ours.

@Mango38 Seals are actually kind of dicks. I've been routinely attacked by them kayaking, and I was once bit and almost dragged under swimming. I needed sixteen stitches.

Plus, if they weren't hunted the population would explode and they'd starve out. Killing and eating other animals is part of nature, and human beings are part of that.

@olddeuteronomy I'm sorry to here about your experience with seals but you do have to remember they are wild animals. They aren't all nice and pleasant to deal with and that's just in their nature.

It's one thing to hunt seals by killing them instantly so they don't feel anything... but bashing them in the head until they die is inhumane, and I doubt any human would want to be killed in that way.

@Mango38 That's exactly my point. They're wild animals, not cute and fluffy little sea kitties like most people against seal clubbing portrays them as. If they had a chance, they'd probably kill you, too.

And you apparently have never seen a true seal hunt. Usually one blow to the back of the neck either kills them or knocks them out. It's being done by people who've done it for generations, and it's a lot more effective than most other hunts.

@olddeuteronomy Um, first of you're right about the part about animals eating animals, yes, and well, we humans eat animals too, yes, but I hope you're not referring to the seal hunt for sport, like the killing of the harp seal.
