Wish my 40 would cruise at 85mph!! It might get up to that speed but woudnt cruise at it lol, but i guess it is running 38's poor wee petrol haha

85 mph !!! I call BS on that.....pistons would go flying thru the hood !! At 65mph it's turning almost 3k RPM. Doesn't matter....I still have 2 and wouldnt trade them for anything !! Best 4x4 ever made.

Ive gotten my 1985 fj-60 to cruise at 95, all stock. They have the same engine and very similar gearing ratios. so i believe it lol

@llxTxll22 These came with the H42 4 speed, yours likely has the H55F five speed which accounts for the extra 10mph.

too bad the new FJ's don't follow suit. I was excited about the new FJ at first, but they are just the typical new car, not the "grab hold and go power" the real land cruisers had. My .02 (63 FJ45, 77 FJ40)

@utopify I don't think you want a new toyota anyway, the old toyotas were really good but the new ones are starting to be like bmw with electrical controls instead of reliable mechanical linkages.
