i have a 2009 v6 3.8Litter, i wanna straight pipe it and get rid of the cat. what do you guys reccomend please respond and do i need back pressure too?
@joker4more Don't straight pipe that engine. It won't sound very good. It's not nearly as snarly and aggressive as the old 4.0. I would just put a flowmaster 44 on it (loudest muffler flowmaster sells, I have it on my 4.0, really loud) and ditch your cat if you want.
@thedickbutt101 hey, 2 stroke engines need backpressure, 4 strokes dont, you get more hp and much better exhaust flow if you straight pipe it or put a nice exhaust on it
Where did you get this tip? what kind of tip is it? i have one on my jeep cherokee 98 and its angle cut and it was cheep. i also cut off the stock exhaust. please respond!
i did the same thing to my jeep the tips are almost the same too. there is a video of it on my profile but it was to cold to rev it any. plus I think they sound better straight piped than they do with a flomaster
sounds like a straight pipe jeep

i run mie straight pipe. no cat. sounds pretty good.especially hold it off rev limiter a few times. only a 4.0 could handle that.

@thedickbutt101 honestly dude. just pull the muffler off and call it good. itllbe fine and sound good enough if you run it right off the cat.

will straight pipes on a xj still pass emmisions in maryland?
weirdvibesjr 2 years ago
A straight pipe won't pass any emissions testing seeing as how the equipment to reduce the emissions has been removed.
94XJ 2 years ago
no, you will pass if you leave the cat on
the muffler has nothing to do with emissions. it just reduces sound.
macombsucks 2 years ago
But a straight pipe is just a pipe from the headers on out...nothing in between...
94XJ 2 years ago
eh not neccesarily
the cat doesnt affect the sound that much
