Thanks so much for posting the video...My dad has to go on dialysis as well....the video has given me insight on how things are gonna be.... i hope my dad gets lucky and get a transplant soon ....and i am happy to hear you are doing great post transplant :)
Just a quick update to those who see these videos and are curious how I am doing... as of 6/11 I am almost 2.5 years post transplant and doing great. My donor is also doing great. :) I am so glad that these videos have helped to show the process of PD to potential patients. ESRD is a lot of work no matter what the treatment method, but is manageable and you can live a full life. I wish everyone the best.
I thank you also for posting your pd videos. I am on pd since August and today I will be trained to use the cycler- yes! No more 4 times a day doing dialysis! I pray that your transplant keeps you healthy and happy until you're at least 90 years old~! God Bless!
way to be compliant, thanks for posting these videos, I am in nursing school and we are learning about dialysis. I am so glad your transplant went well! you deserve it :)
wow you're amazing to let us into your life like this. I really appreciate the time you took to make this, again i'm another nursing student of course and it was helpful to watch what patient's go through, textbooks don't help when it comes to visual effects.
Congratulations on your kidney transplant and hope all is still well!!
I am a nursing student and have been studying for a test on Renal failure and dialysis. Thank you for your story!!! This really helped me to learn about PD. So happy that all went well on your transplant. Thank you for helping all of the nursing students learn so that we can take care of the people who have problems like you did. Pay it forward....
This video really helped. You guys sounded so easy-going about it and made it look easy. I really wanna start PD so I can go to school full-time, Hemo sucks. lol, btw, I'm happy you got your transplant. best wishes (:
I started on hemo when I was 18, and switched to peritoneal dialysis when I was 19.
It was the BEST thing for me!! Gave me my life back!!
I was able to finish college and I now work full-time for the federal government, and part-time as a dance teacher. I would love to have a transplant soon, and it is in the works but it just seems like there is no end in sight at the moment...Unfortunately free healthcare means long waiting times :(
Thanks for sharing your video, tonight was my 3 year old son's first PD at home. He did 10 cycles and is sound asleep. It's 4:50AM and I would like people to please visit his site at rayarodriguez.blogspot com

Dear Mark and Jenna, Thank you so much for this video. I like you both. You are brave, Mark, for letting us into this personal aspect of your life. Jenna, good for you in taking an interest in this subject enough to educate the rest of us. As a resident doctor studying for an exam, I looked for a video explaining peritoneal dialysis, found yours, and I think its better than some of the spooky industry sponsored or crazy surgery videos. Thanks guys. You rock. :)
I work for a Nephrologist and think your videos are GREAT! I have told many patients to look you up (hope you don't mind). I super glad things have worked out for you! Keep us updated!!
Thanks for this. I'm a hemo dialysis patient, and have considered doing this one. This is a really informative video. Good luck on the transplant. I have been waiting over four years so far.
Thanks for sharing your experience with PD. I was told today that I will need dialysis and an eventual transplant. I will be going for all the tests to see if I can have the PD type. I feel overwhelmed right now, but I see it's doable. Congratulations on your successful transplant, I hope you are still doing great. Keep us posted.
almost 22 years now (16 december), but as they say every good thing has an end and my kidney is starting to fail, so i will have to go back to dialysis.
Before my transplant i was on CAPD for 15 months and probably will go back to it until i get my next graft.
How long did you know about your CKD before you went on hemo? How long were you on hemo before you started PD? You did PD for two years before transplant? What an inspiration you guys are! Congratulations and GOD bless you!
Hi, Transplant went great. 9 weeks post opp and all levels are normal. I did hemo & PD. Hemo was tough. Take care of yourself and do exactly what the Dr's and nurses tell you and you will feel great on PD. It is a strange process but you will get used to it. Transplant takes it to another level. It took about 6 weeks to completely heal from the operation and now I feel fantastic. In a way you feel like you are cured. Best of luck on PD. Stay positive.
@markandjenna Dear Mark:This is Carlos from Puerto Rico.I'll be going through this in two week's time, and it was great to see the process,it took many fears away and I feel more more confident now after watching your video.Gracias!!God bless you and keep you in health. How did your transplant go? Did you have to do any treatments after at all? Or did your new kidney work right away?
My only fear being so young and having a transplant, would be having to go through all this again in the future :s
Anyways, All the best to you!!!!
Take care
