  • i dont usually write negative comments but man come on... you are supposed to be reviewing a FM synth but all you are showing are the drum samples on this machine! the DX200 is an awesome FM synth but you wouldnt know it from this video.

  • Can I connect it to a mixer or a turntable and play it synchronized ?

  • @BlueThor1 no you'd have to use a tap-tempo type function and manually sync it

  • @BlueThor1 Yes with the Redsound soundBIT. Google it ;-)

  • mann is das geil das ding

  • My favorite FM Synth - easy to use, Filters plus a groovebox style sequencer...alltogether for a awesome price used. I produce Drum & Bass and the Sub Basses you can produce on this beast are awesome. It also adds some fantastic High Frequency Sounds to my other Synthesizers - this one is a real good deal.

  • the scenes was a special yamaha feature that works mainly like an additional real-time controller, -

you can store two "snapshots" of one and the same patch, and when "scene" is activated, you can cross/morph between them (on the keyboard you do it with the mod.wheel).

it enables you to control as many parameters as you want at the same time.

  • Kind of a confusing review especially with the "scenes."

  • DX-200 sound engine of 6-operator FM is currently the Best way to have authentic Yamaha DX-7 sound updated to present standard, without need of buying the original 80s vintage synth.. The sequencer is a bonus which makes it good as Live play Groovebox..

Nowadays theres many PCM, DSP, virtual analogs, analogs, samplers, which everyone owns... by getting Yamaha DX200 you can be different from the rest ;)

  • @speedtribejp

I recently bought Native Instrumends FM8 - it blows this Unit in pieces when it comes to Sound edeting - but when i want fast results or Basslines i grab my DX200.

  • You should save the changes in scene to switch between them and hear the difference - right now you just tweak knobs

Got an-200 (very similar to dx-200) they have a lot of possibilities.

    - 4track (1 for synth, 3 for drums)

    - analog style sequencer

    - nice effects

    - drums are not tweakable samples

  • The dx200 is sick as hell.... I love all the squelchy unstable FM synth sounds, and the filter is definitely legit.

  • Hello, I've posted this video on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com

  • Also the free EG Implementation is way better than Korgs or Rolands in that you have four eg's you can turn on or off separately, or in combination were with the others youcan overdub controller moves but then its either on or off. Anyway I was looking for demos of the Fm version, and you did a great job, Thanks for driving the price up!

  • I was initially put off by these and the AN200having only one Synth part. A lot of other boxes that came out ahead of it seemingly had better specs. Then I got an ANX1 Which is sounds awesome and has the same synth engine as the AN200. What impresses me about these units is how you can manipulate the patterns in real time.

  • I'm goin to get one

  • i like it!
