  • worst tour ever

  • As a great fan of The Who this is where they lost it. Touring just to keep the cash rolling in but offering nothing new. Nothing wrong in that when you look at their back catalogue 1968 to 1977.

In this Roger looks like some old bloke who's entered a Simon Le Bon look-a-like competition at Butlins after one too many lager shandies.

  • it was a great tour

  • The Who with Simon Phillips on drums was their best period after the death of Moon.

  • They had the Los Angeles show on this tour on Pay Per View. I bought it and videotaped.

It was great. Lame? No, I don't think so!

  • The last great Who song.

  • Someone sounded terribly flat and wavering in the chorus "The old ones have seen two wars". Im sure the band was missing moon too drums sound terrible. still a great song tho

    - long live rock

  • @surfmb70 - Moon had been dead for...what....eleven years by that time?

  • MY FAVOURITE BAND FOREVER!

  • Hows about a happy comment! Can we do that eh? Here's one, Greatest. Band. EVER! Oh how about this one, I. Love. Rogers. Hair!! Or some funny like can Rogers pants be any tighter? And is there a better hair style for Pete? There that will do nicely don't ya think? Thanks for posting!

  • Ya know, I love The Who, but this blows.

  • SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Who live in '89 was still one of my favorite shows of all time... it was like 3 1/2 hours (back when I wanted a show that long). I've seen them many times since and they've never been as good, although still good.

  • Daltrey is an absolute beast on this tour

  • Backing singers are out of tune, but I think this is a pretty good track, better than anything off it's hard and everything bar you better you bet on face dances

  • one person i talked to thought that mudvayne covered this song. Look it up and prove him wrong!!!!!

  • bro, even a genius like pete townshend cant keep coming up with fuckin my generation and tommy his whole life.

it certainly isnt whos next but shit, its a fucking A for effort. No matter what they never stopped touring and they played all the favorites but they like to write new material and thats all that counts

  • one of hen backing singers suck

  • well... it's a nice song but once you heard the REAL who ('60-'70)... this type of song seem crap!

  • true in away it dosent beat baba o riley

  • bro, even a genius like pete townshend cant keep coming up with fuckin my generation and tommy his whole life.

it certainly isnt whos next but shit, its a fucking A for effort. No matter what they never stopped touring and they played all the favorites but they like to write new material and thats all that counts so no offense, but fuck you mate

  • Thanks for posting this video. Love this version and the song. DIG IT!!

  • Hate to be the cynical one, but '89 had to be the Who's lamest period. Great song though.

  • I can't disagree with you, but even this "Who on ice"-period had its moments.

  • Its not a high point but any Who is goo music IMOH.

The studio version of Dig rocks the other Who track from 1989 Fire.

Speaking of Fire Check out "After the Fire" it is a Daltry song written by pete.

  • i love this song!!!!

  • After years of watching the 1999-present Who, it's funny to see Pete playing acoustic. Gotta love it with the crowd cheering when he switched over to his Strat :)

  • Roger is adorable in this one! Good song!

  • I'll drink to that!

  • same here!

  • I WANT John's jacket.

It is a crying shame that they show the backup singers more than him.

That's one of the reasons why I didn't like this tour...too many other people on the stage taking away John's thunder (no pun intended).

...That and this is just so EIGHTIES. Ugh!

  • Which cd is this on?

  • It's on Pete Townshend's solo album from 1989 "The Iron Man: A Musical".

  • Thank you very much.

  • Simon Phillips kicked so much ass on this tour...if they would had him in 79 after Moonie's death, I don't ever think they would have broken up for 5-6 years when they did

    ('83-88).

  • There was no tour in 1987 by the Who anyway. Pete did the acoustic guitar work and very limited electric on this tour, Steve Bolton played electric. Pete thought he could save his hearing! David Gilmore did a select few shows on the 1996 Quadrophenia tour also. Pete played his regular guitar on that tour and his brother Simon also played in those shows! From 2000 on it has been Pete and Simon and sometimes Roger manning the guitars on tour!

  • Any Idea how Pete saved his hearing and overcame the ringing that plagued him during the late 70s and 1980s?

  • Sorry my bad, I tought this was the 87 tour, pete played himself on this one.

  • Pete somehow lost his guitar skills in the 80's, but then again he played well in the 90's - early 2000 period.

Great song, from an underrated album.

They actually had some guy to play electric guitar for this tour, and Gilmour helped him out on his solo tour.

  • Love this song.

  • Although they're not putting that much effort into it. :/

  • If you want to see a better version of this song, get the special edition of Tommy & Quadraphonia that has the extra disc of The Who hits. The same people play on it, but they put _much_ more effort into it.

  • Haha I liked the cheering for the electric guitar- funny what a difference 18 years makes... playing just as hard as ever again.
