i have some questions and suggestions for you. Q. what options did it come with? like a/c and so on. mine had towing pack, a/c, chrome bumpers, and smokers pack(dont smoke, too late in year to find exactly what i wanted. and the suggestions. 1-silver or white racing stripes, the wide double style like the dodge vipers have, silver would be better looking on black but you would need to do bumpers and maybe grille. 2. smoked headlight and taillight covers. preferrably light smoke for better light
my 04 was getting about 18mpg ave, with K&N filter i got 19 ave. with intake i got 22.5 ave consistantly. at first your mpgs will be really high, then your computer adjusts and it goes down. my 08 was 17 ave stock, with intake i got 21 first tank, now gets about 19-20 in summer. winter with snow/ weight in back/ defrosting windows i got almost 18. my 04 reg cab longbed weighed 3897Lbs. my 08 like yours weighs 4364. i have the towing package on my 08.
i have yet to find an intake for the 07 and 08 V6. they are dropping the V6 and the manual tranny for 09 so most companies didnt make an intake. i used the one i had on my 04 heritage. if you want one let me know. just get one from K&N for the 04 heritage and i'll tell you what you have to do. it made a huge difference in sound and performance in my heritage. my 08 sounds a bit better but totally different than my 04 did. in 04 it sounded a little like the 4.6 under harder acceleration.
the 08 has a little whine to it after 2500rpms like a little supercharger. by the way, if you want the intake, your gonna have to do some drilling on the mass airflow sensor's housing. and you have to do it almost exactly right for it to work. if you slip drilling a hole your kinda screwed unless you find a way to plug the hole really well
sorry, about so many posts, keep remembering stuff. K&N intake is about $305. i got the 77 series. says about 6hp gain and came with a dyno printout that says.. 1998 4.2L. 125,287miles. a gain of 6.15RWHP, about 8-9hp at fengine. you have less miles so your engine would be a little higher of a gain. my 04 had about 25k when i installed it. my 08 had about 1k when installed. says stock was 166.24RWHP@4400 in 87 degree heat. intake 172.39RWHP@4567 in 91 degrees. gain of 6.15hp @ 4567rpms
