The agility yet awkwardness of the TIE fighter reminds me of a Stuka. BTW Henry, why are the Mon Calamari considered to represent the poles. I would think the wookies ......
@HenryvKeiper The Millenium Falcon is the De Havilland Mosquito. I know it was not used in the Battle of Britain but can you think of a better aircraft to represent it?
The cockpit of one of those spacecraft looked like a Heinkel He 111, wouldn't have stood much of a chance against the 'spitfires' and 'hurricanes' of the RAF Jedi methinks.
@bournemouth1964 Funny you say that. I recently heard that a lot of the original Star War models were a hodgepodge of pieces designers took from old World War II kits.
Great editing. Unlike the UFO TV series, I didn't see the connection with Star Wars and Battle of Britain at first but 633 Squadron and Dambusters did. Great soundtracks helped a lot.
Scramble bandits at six o'clock, tally ho tally ho go get 'em. Red two this is Red leader closer I can hardly see you. Right here we go attacking now!
I see you have not blocked comments on this clip. I allso see they are nearly all praising you. Do you get my point.??? Just a thought. Good day and greetings from London..........
The British comedian Eddie Izzard used to do a great routine about how American movies tend to use Englishman as villians, with Star Wars as being the prime example.
Hmmm, wasn't too sure about the choppy editing at the start of the vid, BUT I thought the main battle theme worked quite well with the death star battle and I particularly liked the quote from Mon Momtha at the end. (The casualty totals caused me much amusement certainly).
Good work. One story is fact, one fiction, but they have one thing in common: both are epic, backs-to-the-wall struggles for survival. That's why this fusion works so well.
Henry you are a fucking genius!!! Not laughed that much in years. I'm no geek but I must admit I am when it comes to WW2 Aircraft and Star Wars. So this is pure class. Great cut to the Falcon escaping after nuking the Death Star, but you could have filled the space. You got more planned? I was thinking just off the top of me head - Dambusters and the first Death Star, 633 Squadron and the Walkers on Hoth, Gladiator and the arena on Genosis (bit commercial, sorry). Possibilities are endless.
Shame because it's dead funny. I was hoping you'd expand the franchise a bit by looking at other wars and other space films. Personally I think WW1 is just asking for it. 'Blue Max' or 'Aces High' a la Battlestar Galactica could be good. But I won't harass the creative process. All I ask is that you make sure you let me know if anything else comes off the production line!

Just how many of the human casualties were 'Polish' as in the B of B? I hope they scored many 'kills' against the evil empire.

@bournemouth1964 Actually the Mon Calamari were the Poles.

@HenryvKeiper One good example - cockpit of the Millenium Falcon based on the nose of a B-29 Superfortress!

You should have added sounds of air combat (machine guns of different calibers, sounds of AA guns, hummings of planes' engines, and all)
That's just my opinion, though.

I generally don't edit comments unless someone's trolling, acting absurd, or is just repeating the same argument over and over again.

This is even better than the original scene. I nominate you 6 out of 5 stars!!!

Well known that Lucas watched war films; many similarities between Episode IV and Battle of Britain/Dambusters.
This is good though.

The one with the Spitfires winning the Battle of Britain. Everyone who is a good WWII buff knows that it was the Hurricane that saw the most action.
