Simple ghost box setup for EVP recording

this is a good idea recording direct from the radio to the laptop! it means no contamination what so ever' plus another normal recorder at the same time to confirm it :)

@griphlican21 if you serach "ghost box evp" on ebay , its mostly 12-587's that come up and they are already converted. If not, and you live near a Radio Shack you can buy them in there and there are a few videos on youtube showing how to convert them

@griphlican21 Unfortunately, the 12-587 is no longer "hackable" due to a design change on the new line of radios. However, as far as I know, the 12-588 model is still a good choice for a hacked ghost box and there are many videos on YT that show you how to do that, including windstalker 57. Cheers!

@griphlican21 it has been discontinued from radio shack so your best bet now is ebay, but the price will be higher nowadays. Have you looked for the 12-587 at all, that one is still available

@parisa6100 If it can automatically sweep without stopping or be converted to do that, then yes it will work

@MelissaEvpCatcher hello i was never a beliver in this (EVP) thing but one time i was at a freinds house he got an old recorder and we started calling and talking to see if we could record anything and for my surprise into the recording like 2 minutes whe could hear a voice said SHAGGY KINDA LIKE IN A SLOW REC really creepy and like i said for my surprise my nickname is shaggy so i was really scared. so that was the last time i did it. thank you and goodnight from calexico CAL.

So EVP is all about scanning through and catching snippets of shortwave voice broadcasts in various languages, then processing and editing the sound enough so you can read something into it? Have I got this right?

@g7txu thats just the ghost box method, there are various methods of trying to record EVP, not all require background noise. Its all theory of course :) I can only judge things through experience

@Ek5656 You dont have to have all the computer setup etc you can just have an ordinary dictaphone with the ghost box for recording sessions

Question for you, did you hit play by accident on the "ghost box" ? and record on your laptop? reason why im asking is that there are the exact same voices coming from the box as was in one of your captured "EVP's" on one of your other videos.

Hi, for the intro I did press play for about 10 seconds on this vid, but there was nothing on that 10 seconds, it was just a short demo. There is a vid I do have on here though called "a missed evp". This video is of a normal evp that someone else found on this turorial vid

Do you think i would get anything by just pressing record on audacity, asking questions and then listening back? Using the built in mic on my laptop and without any ghost box and stuff.

You certainly will. The ghost box is just one of the many methods of recording EVP's but some of the best EVP's are recorded simply by using an audio recording device in a quiet area, then you play it back and sometimes capture voices that weren't present at the time.

I'm planning on doing ghost hunting stuff and getting a ouiji board and everything. But I'm a bit scared to do it in my flat to be honest because a few months before i moved in here some guy died right on my floor and aparently he was an evil bastard lol. When I record i'l send you an audio file if i get anything.

ouiji boards are bad news. I messed with one before and seen a dude levitate and start having a seizure. Now almost every week i have an encounter with something. Ive lived in my house all my life basically and nothing happened until i messed with the board. I would highly recommend anyone who is a believer in spirts/demonic not to mess with those!

why don't you split de speakerwire and put one end in your laptop mike input.A better soundcard gives clearer sound 2 i supose.

Hi Eric, thanks for your comment. I have tried using various splitters to feed the ghost box and mic direct into my laptop, but it doesnt seem to work. For some reason, the mic input is pretty much inaudiable and drowned out by the ghost box input. It doesnt go in 50/50. I was thinking about getting some sort of mixer next, but if you have any idea how to resolve it without a mixer, please let me know.

You can just record using a normal dictaphone then transfer it to your computer later
