  • Do you know where the location on the hex editor for the stage clear music is? Because I can't find it.

  • Unfortunately, I don't. If I can find my old list of music pointer locations, I'll be sure to let you know though.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog

Actually never mind I just figured it out. The location is E63C0.

  • Yes! I'm loving this! Much better fit.

  • sounds like djyuzoboy's snes remix

  • Hey dude, so uh, you seem very talented in this level editing! Have you yet heard of Sonic3HD? Its a pretty new project, and I think your level editing skills would be epic for creating a new level design for the adventure? It will be like a game mod. Do you think you would be interested? :)

  • To be honest, I've been told about it by quite a few people. But I am really not interested. I have too many projects I am working on at the moment as it is and barely have enough time for those. Thanks for the offer, but I'm not interested.

  • Darn... I would have been really great to see someone with your skill in level editing. The level editor itself is much better than SonEd2 and can work much faster. So you can totally give this up, and work at a faster pace with a much more beautiful editor (I am actually one of the main project leaders) and work with HD graphics. But I guess I cant force you, I just thought you would have fun and it would be a wonderful experience for you. If you ever change your mind, tell me :)

  • @SonikkuHedgehog How'd you do it without the project files?

  • I don't understand. You have to have "split" a Sonic 3 rom and a Sonic & Knuckles rom into the right files for use with the disassembly, then load a project file with SonED2. The project files themselves are only pointers to the actual data. If you don't have a disassembly set up correctly, they won't work.

  • kk. looking forward to the finished rom

  • name suggestion: sunset dash?

  • As much as I appreciate name suggestions, I can't currently edit the title cards. If I could, I would have renamed them all already.

  • I just recently got Esrael Sonic Editor II and I'm making a Sonic 3 & Knuckles hack of my own, but I have a question. How do you change the sound of the music in the game?

  • I used a hex editor and the locations of music from the SCHG on Sonic Retro. I't a simple pitch change, but it's not too difficult to understand.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog Did you use a hex editor or a tool for the layout changes? ESEII doesn't do anything and I can't find a good link for ChaoSaX-Zone.

  • I used SonED2 with a disassembly for that. ESEII won't get you far in that regard.

  • I hope this hack isn't cancled i'd like to try it out

    (please don't cancle the prodject)

  • It isn't cancelled. It's still being worked on. Just "very" slowly. I've never cancelled this project and hope I can eventually get it finished.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog good to know that it isn't cancled what level are you working on

  • I love it. Whatever you do, don't quit on finishing this hack.

  • Evening Dust Zone?That´s a nice name!

  • can i have a download link?

  • There isn't one for several reasons, one being the hack is nowhere near complete. You'll have to be patient for a release, I'm afraid.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog ok thanks.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog I'd like to see a port of this version for Sega CD with CD soundtrack. looking at this level specifically, I think the songs present in the Saturn version of Sonic 3D blast Rusty Ruin zone would go very well with this level.

  • How did you make this hack?

Did you use a program or anything?

  • I used a program called ESEII to create this hack. With hacks of other Sonic games (Sonic 1 and 2), other programs are used, specifically a disassembly and a program called SonED2.

For this particular hack though, it's just a level and palette edit of the existing levels. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog

    I do have another question.

I downloaded ESEII, and it gave me a 7z file, so I can't open it.

Is this the correct file I'm supposed to get? If it is, how do I open it? If i isn't please send me a link to download the real thing.

  • Yeah, that's probably the correct file, just compressed into a .7z file. If you have winrar or 7zip, you can uncompress it. You can also find the program in .zip format at sonicresearchDOTorg/utils?full#28

  • sonicresearch*DOT*org/utils?full#28

(If that didn't come out correctly)

  • @SonikkuHedgehog

    I need more help.

I downloaded it, and opened the application, but when I try to open a ROM, I get a message that says "Invalid filename". Also, the words in the program don't seem to be in English. For example, instead of saying "Open ROM", it says "Abrir ROM".

  • @omgcopters heh that's in Portuguese.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog

Sorry for a really late reply.

Since the file that immediately comes out as a ZIP file doesn't work, how can I de-compress the 7z file?

  • Love the new layout, keep this up

  • Great level design. The palette is not too bad either.

  • the pitch from the song is awesome

  • I could do with someone like you on my Sonic hacking team wanna be part of team GX

  • Thanks for the appreciation of my work but I'm already part of a team working on another hack and I'm obviously also wokring on this one myself. Thanks for the offer, but I'm gonna have to decline.

  • *working

  • Only thing I dont like are the spikes when you use those circular thingys

  • Are you referring to the spinning tops that you get knocked off of about 2 seconds after you ride them? If so, they have all been removed from Act 1 and the layout changed accordingly. It was a cheap way to make multiple paths and it doesn't look too good I didn't think. They will return as an Act 2 exclusive object. The multipel paths are still there, just accessed from different methods.

  • Looks fantastic, I love the new palette and how the music sounds in this pitch. :3

  • nice sonic hack :)

  • Looks awesome!
