every single eldar video have jetbikes.... are they really that good? i was thinking to start eldar but i think infranty looks way better than jetbikes.
so just give me some opinion infrantry or bikes? :)
@hepalamukala You tend to go one of three routes for viable Eldar. Saim Hann lists that abuse jetbikes, Warwalker lists which max out on war walkers and have a lot of S6 shots and a NULL deployment set up. And Mech Eldar, which just maxs out on the Armour 12 wave serpents and falcons.
The are other builds, but those seem to be accepted as working. Fritz has used a Harlequin army, which has its merits, loses to a number of things though, and is a gimmick at best, fun all the same though.
Ok, just calculated a fast and leathal eldar army at 1850 points. How does 4 squads of guardian jetbikes with 6 bikes each(with the shrukin cannon upgrade on each squad) , 5 squads of vypers with scatterlasers and 2 vypers per squad, and 4 fire prysims with holofields and spirit stones sound. I think it sound good, but I don't know for shure.
OK. I realy want to start an eldar army that is fast and leathal. How does an 1850 point army made with a bunch of jetbikes, warwalkers, and wraithlords sound? Good or realy realy bad?
@TheLogicisking Warwalkers and wraithlords just can't keep up with the jetbikes. I run White Scars entirely on bikes and I don't use vehicles or Terminators, they are powerful in their own right, but they just can't keep up with the army and that leaves them open to getting slaughtered. Take fire prisms or vypers.
@BlackX2011 Ok, I have heard that fire prisms have good firepower. Is it as good or better than a war walker squad with duel scatterlaser's on each one?
@TheLogicisking I would be more inclined for Fire Prisms because they have either a str 5 ap 4 large blast or a str 9, ap 2 blast which can be linked with other fire prisms to increase strength and lower AP, making it twin linked, etc. Prisms are also armour 12, BS 4 and are fast skimmers.Warwalkers certainly have their strengths, but in a jet bike army, they'll get left in the open they'll get obliterated very quickly
Tygerius, supposedly the best Librarian ever and he just... fails, no invulnerable, only 2 wounds, how much of a fail, Chaos Sorcerers have 5+ invulns and 3 wounds basic... Just goes to show, the ways of chaos has it's uses. :P
I'm still extremely miffed about how Tigurius got gimpnaughted. He was halfway decent before since he had 2x the range on his powers, but now he's just a stupid overpriced gimp. Game over for Tigurius.
@LHAXM No, the Thousand Suns were banished because they foretold the Emperor of the doom that was approaching him. The Ultramarines, along with all the other chapters are allowed to have psykers and Librarians, due to the employment of the powers of the Inquisition. Plus, certain chapters have a rite of admission. If the trainee were to have any hint of Chaos that is immediate or dormant, they will be killed or nurtured to have that Chaos influence banished from them.
Im need some help here...im wondering which independant characters to use for my SM army...im thinking K'Sorrow Khan(with Moondrakken and bike squad) for some fast/badass assaults and hit+run with my scouts(+LSS) and the Vulkan guy to make all my thunderhammer/melta's and flamer's hit a ton. I currently have 1 VenDred,1 tac squad,1 full terminator squad(T-hammers+SShields) 1 5man scout squad(w Sniper rifles + Sgt Telion) 1 LandSpeeder Storm and 1 Rhino. Any ideas for filling out my list??
I'm wondering how he had 2 combat squads in 1 drop pod. You can't do that. 1 squad per vehicle, and once combat squad-ed they are 2 separate kill points.
Hehe, ya gotta put a Warlock with Embolden in those large Jetbike squads, plus he adds a STR 9 against vehicles. A bit pricey yes, but usually worth it I find.
always enjoy watching battle reports so thanks for this. Personally i prefer 2nd edition 40K rules coupled with Dark Millenium, its old by the latest rule standards but helluva lot more fun.
Librarians suck in general, well in the Codex Marine book anyway. Dark Angels have the best one in my opinion. I'm a Black Templar player, so I don't have to deal with psykers. haha
Cheap HQ, doesn't need wargear upgrades to be effective and the powers really do tend to be worth it. The Force weapon has its day against big multiwound models and comes free of charge. I like the strategic mobility of gate to infinity and allmost every other power has a sittuation when it can be invaluable.
A space marine bike force is most useful with a captain on a bike. In this case any bike squad of 5 or more counts as a troop choice, which is key in holding objectives. Drop pods are sweet, but either get one and stuff something unpleasant in your opponents face, or get three or more. I think that rhinos are more versatile and protect your troops holding objectives from harm more as opposed to a drop pod, which is just something designed to explode and hurt your men.
I've never understood cover saves: does a model get its normal armor save AND a cover, or just its regular save or a cover save? And if it's the latter, does a model receive cover save only if its regular armor would have failed vs. a stronger weapon?
It is either one or the other. If what is shooting at you takes away your normal armor then you can use the cover save. If the gun doesnt take away your normal armor you just use which one is better. In 40k you never take more than one save,
Exactly, If the weapon does not say it ignores invulnerable saves, then you can use the invul. Only very few things can get rid of both normal armor and invulnerable saves (Necron Wraith Scythe)
cover saves can be always be taken if u want (even if the cover save is worse) but it also counts as a invulnerable save and yes you can only take 1 save
You take a choice. Cover or Armor. If you wont get an armor save, like if a plasma gun shoots at your marine, go with the cover, but it your armor is better than your cover, take that.
Ultramarines are as bad as the thousand sons... why? did not the emperor forbid the use of librarians and psychic abilities at nikea and what did guilliman do? he sanctioned a librarius for every chapter of the marines also the current chapter master waers tainted relics of chaos on his fists... the gauntlets of ultramar were a chaos champions weapons. once corrupted by chaos the taint is there and thats that. the ultramarines chapter master is tainted....
