What really endured me to this series was their proper use of the english language. Even in rage the point comes across much better. A Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer (one of many of my great mentors over 30 years service) once told me "if you swear with profane words all the time people will think you are ignorant and will stop listening to you".........
does anyone think that adams is kinda funny when he gets mad? like at 0:56 when he is chasing his son? or at 1:42 when he gets pissed at his daughter's suiter? or at 2:52 when he fires someone? he just gets mad at everyone!
He was a one term president because he was pretty shit at the job. From signing into law the "alien and sedition" acts to his pompous ass attitude. It's no wonder people like George Washington largely excluded him from the inner circle of his administration.
@blackdragon767 George Washington did not exclude him from the inner circle.
Adams was excluded due to his position as Washington's Vice President. VPs have a very specific job. Adams was a brilliant President -- our best ever, imho.
He kept us out of a war which, had he entered it, would have gained him reelection. He saved lives AND our nation by now entering into that conflict. Jefferson was only successful BECAUSE of what Adams did!
@Justgetout He IS the only Founding Father who didn't own slaves. He was thought of as "obnoxious" partly because he loudly proclaimed his opposition to slavery.
"All dead" Uh, Sir, you killed them all cus you got so pissed you yelled at them to death. LOL...but seriously, Adams was a great man and great President.
He was a remarkable man. He had a vision. He had a short temper, easily angered, stubborn. I believe he was also a warm hearted man. As short tempered as he was it would hurt his feelings greatly when his reputation was tarnished. He was in my opinion one the best presidents weve ever had. He has accomplished much but got little credit.
@abnoceans12 he was an egotistical prick but he was our egotistical prick. The man had altruistic and noble intentions but was chalk full of pride on his most down day.
No wonder Paul Giamatti is chosen to play John Adams, his performance as Marty Wolf in "Big Fat Liar" has convinced me that he is capable of playing stubborn people with really short tempers.
He liked a drink then?!

I really did love these movies- but I felt like, especially for episodes 3-5, John Adams was not so much pissed as pissy!

I'm quite surprised that a man with such a hot temper could live up to 90 years old.

John Adams is the only well known Founding father I can think of who did not own slaves or have any affair outside of wedlock.
That alone makes him a great man.
