@1980theone haha, i just didn't want the poor kid wasting his time trying to learn Chinese while there are exceptional martial arts schools here in the USA. however, i'm not saying that learning the language is wasteful(my girlfriend speaks Mandarin). thanks though ^_^

I cannot believe that at this advanced level, the teacher is still using English to teach. She is supposed to use the target language all the time. She needs to learn to use Mandarin to ask the student question. She even praise the student in English. This teaching method is ridiculous.

i personally think its great, chinese is not a simple language and it does help that she speaks a bit of english because its his first language-he thinks in it. and i know what im talking about-mandarin is my third language, i use english to remind myself the differences in my mind.

@swiftblackisntwack I agree with you. I'm learning Mandarin, and when I went to Mandarin summer school the teachers only spoke in Mandarin unless describing a new concept, otherwise everything was Mandarin, because the best way to learn is to immerse the student in the language.
