  • I want to ask you - Is it okay for me to use this video, as material, for a report I'm writing for school?

  • It seemed like the Christians you mentioned liked you. I don't think any of the Christians when I was in high school liked me yet I never was aware of a christian to be at the school I went to except for certain teachers.

  • There are lots of great athiest who can give you strong arguments on Evolution, and the Big Bang Theory, try watching ZOMGit'scris channel, or Darkmatter2525. Also though he doesn't bring up evolution much, has stong arguments is Nonstampcollector, and finally for a bit of wit, PatCondell. Hope that helps :)

  • Tell those religious believers to straighten out who the real fucking god is before they talk shit to you. Ask them why their are so many religions in the world and ask them why they think theirs is right. Tell them that they need to be comforted with their religion because they need something to believe in.. While you on the otherhand trust the theories of science and reason that are PROVEN, while their religious crap is not.

  • The bible belt leads the u.s. in divorce and murder rates. So much for moral superiority.

  • (cont.)( I always get made fun of for playing WoW and having a speech impediment). The point is that kids are ALWAYS going to find something to pick at.

  • Thank you for helping me see in the mind of a Christian. I honestly appreciate your time you took to comment, and like to know people are enjoying my videos. However I have a question, do they normally use prejudice to make one feel discriminated against? I am a former Jew and even then I was made fun of for being the Jew. Even now, EVERYONE in my school knows me as the Jew, but it's slowly changing into Jew Atheist. I am getting quite irritated.

  • Anyways , You , TheLOneAtheist, sound like myself when I was in high school , you sound like an up and coming atheist , I recommend you read:

"Science a s Candle in the Dark " by Carl Sagan

It is a great book that gives compelling arguments that will sharpen your mind as to casting doubt on the supernatural.

  • Thank you Mocatree, all your comments have been very helpful. I especially liked how you were talking about the invisible dragon. Anyways, you have helped me to understand a bit more about why these people try to convert me and i appreciate it. Is that book at say a Barnes and Noble? Or would I need to order online?

  • both , I think

  • Circular reasoning: You mentioned that your classmates state that since the bible says something there fore it must be true - this is a form of what is known as circular reasoning.

"The bible says that the world was created in six days therefore it must be true" ( which is to say that there "proof" is in the bible ) But this does not actually prove anything per say - it merely confirms a common belief. I have a paper that says that the earth is flat like a CD - so it must be true.

  • 5.There is a natural tendency to attribute what is not easily understood to the supernatural.

When people don't know how to explain something they attribute it to the supernatural.

A long time ago many people attributed sickness to punishments from the gods or a demonic possession ( many still do: google Africa witchcraft) . Did they know about bacteria , did they know about viruses? Did they know about DNA? No , so they had to find other ways to explain sickness.

  • One thing that you must realize , TheLoneAtheist , is that it is not your responsibility to "disprove" in the existence of the dragon , Why?

Because , you did not come up with that assertion , I did , there fore the burden of proof lies on me not you.

Those who believe in the supernatural really have no concrete evidence to back up what they say - they believe by faith and faith alone. Faith is belief in the absence of evidence.

  • 4.(Continued) What I am saying here is that for every way that you try to prove the physical existence of the dragon I come up with some way to explain it away ( it has no body , it does not give off heat , etc.)

So , with a lack of any evidence, we conclude that there is no reason to believe in the existence of the dragon.

  • 4. (Continued) You spread some kind of powder on the floor to see if you can get an outline of the dragons foot prints but I tell you that the dragon floats over the ground. You try to listen to the dragon to see if it makes any noise but I say that the dragon is completely silent. So you wait for some time to see if the dragon gets hungry or thirsty and see if it comes out the room to eat or drink but I say it does not eat or drink.

  • 4. They ask questions that are impossible to answer.

Example: I state that there is a live fire breathing dragon in my backyard. You want to see it. So we go to my backyard. You see no dragon and I respond that the dragon is invisible. You walk around the room and try to feel the dragon but I state the the dragon has no body. You try to a thermal image but I state that the dragon has no body heat.

  • 3. (Continued). I am not stating in absolute terms that there are no supernatural being - just that I have yet to see any convincing evidence that would lead me to believe in the existence of a supernatural being. I do not state as a fact there are no flying unicorns - but I have yet to see any evidence that there are flying unicorns , therefore I have no reason to believe in the existence of flying unicorns.

  • 3. You mentioned something interesting in you comments , that there is evidence disproving the existence of God and no evidence to support the existence of God. The best way to state that would be to say that there is no evidence to back up the existence of God or any other supernatural being there fore I have no reason to believe in the existence of said being.

  • 2. How did it all start?

Well , many religions have different beliefs ; judo - Christians ( especially evangelicals ) think that it is as the bible says ( literally) - the universe was made in 6 days. But science has much more realistic answer: The Big Bang . I say realistic because there really is evidence that a massive explosion occurred billions of years ago. There is a tremendous amount of evidence to back this up. But there is no evidence that the world was made in 6 days -literally.

  • 1. Why do people feel the need to convert other people?

I suppose that different people have their reasons ; some believe that if you don not believe in god that you will go to hell , so from their point of view they are trying to help you. Others may be trying to put you in their belt for bragging purposes by saying that they got the atheist to convert - as if they won a prize. Others will be freaked out that there is someone out there that does not have the same beliefs that they do.

  • Cool video make more kthx get awped

  • believers like to ask questions they know cannot be answered. This gets you to say the words 'I don't know' which they feel helps shore up their argument. 'How was the universe created, exactly, in extreme detail if you don't mind?' "What happens after you die?" They like to ask for evidence that proves that something does not have evidence (god). There is no observable evidence that a giant waterskiing banana created the world, so how could you present evidence that he didn't? It's a trap.
