  • when this song plays in my room, i dance so much more than that crowd does.

keep wearing black, new york! :)

  • How the FUCK do you dislike this? Seriously some people are morons when it comes to good music

  • 240p, Even though its been a while, you feel great right now.

  • Dear God,

please, take Justin Bieber with you, and give us Leroi back.

    Thank you.

  • Why does it cut off? Bummer.

  • I went to the last Dallas concert a year ago. Definitely the greatest concert I've ever been too!

  • this show was pretty much excercise and a show lets not for get the huge asss sprint

  • I love dave matthews sooo much this song is smoooth jazz

  • carter is the best drummer of all time

  • Awesome this is on here, but to split it into two parts makes me wanna cry a bit. You lose the groove!! Ah, but thanks...

  • "My mind is blown."

  • 188.000+ views and about 2,000 of them are MINE!

  • Most bands perform their songs the same way at every show based on the studio version, DMB never plays a song the same way more than once and that's what makes them so unique and so incredible

  • dave is DA MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN..

  • Fucking dave is DA MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN..

  • Warren Haynes!

  • Good version, but everyone needs to check out the version from last year's performance at Wrigley Field, a performance of the ages.

  • @extreme67 i was there .. and it was epic

  • ...I think I just died and went to heavennn

  • @TheDmbfanforever if you were in heaven both parts of the song would be in one video still great though

  • @dmbdispatch14 Having Dispatch play as part of The Caravan for Randall's NY was more than I could have asked for. I get what you are saying as it dibturbed me when I first posted these up here to split them. At least they are here. Somtimes, as Carter would say, the beauty is in the space between. Peace

  • @peasefrawg I was at that show absolutely amazing cortez was great and when Dispatch closed with elias it was great

  • What I like about this band is that every song is unique, different and terrific.

Lots of time a group has a hit with one song...and then every song they do sounds like it. Not this group. Totally music to my ears!

  • 5 people have no taste in music!!!!!

  • Dave at 4:42- is my favorite part, this is definitely one of their best songs

  • dave pulls off a receding hairline and the i dont give a fuck look better then most

  • The first two chords of the chorus, whenever the whole band comes in and blares majestic sounds is so orgasmic that I have to make an emergency run to the pants store after hearing it.

  • @paulshirley1986 It's the pleat!!!

  • a white guy playing bass and a black guy playing violin? take that, racial bias

  • @RorySinn Just the very mention of it to those who cannot see clouds your own vision. I did however laugh :-)

  • @peasefrawg What exactly are you getting at? I can't exactly understand your comment towards @RorySinn.

It looks to me like you're trying to diss him just for making a funny statement?

But I'de rather not assume anything as it can get you into bad places :)

  • Ahhhh yes! If there are angels, subtle beings, surely they hover right above this, no?!

  • They play amazing music

  • you show me another band in todays generation, who is as good, if not better live - voice wise, instrumental ability and all around perfection - than DMB

  • @errormsg5 Stop demanding the impossible.

  • carters face at 7:35 is simply brilliant

  • @beemeroo82 haha, it's nice seeing musicians actually enjoying themselves and really feeling the music. that is an awesome face

  • As the saying goes "Out with the old and in with the new". In this case it's out with the old (the new bullshit these days they call music) and in with the new (the good ol' DMB)

  • @Darwin368 pretty sure you said the exact opposite of what you meant

  • Comment removed

  • Is it wrong to be obsessed with DMB?

  • @palmettokind God, I hope not.

  • LeRoi Moore, you are STILL the man! R.I.P. brother.

  • microphone at 5:12 is awesome... haha must have been a hell of a feeling to take this in in real life. earth shaking

  • Featuring Warren Hayes

  • i love how dave strays from the actual lyrics so much. one of the best

  • Gotta say...I am addicted to DMB again after many years of just listening to country! I am originally from Manchester TN (home of Bonnaroo) and I hope to see Dave and Warren many many more times. Wish they had Bonnaroo when I was growing up in Manchester..had to wait til I was 40 did they???

  • @NHTOATLANTA Better late than never!

  • To quote Dave Mathews, "gabba babba booba stoppa dima bama bada buda", pure genius.

  • Love it!!

  • I'm rolling up a jimi thing right now :)

  • Goose bumps every time!!! :)

  • 16 minutes playing one truly kick ass song?...That is dedication, talent and genuine passion for what they do. No one plays a gig like DMB.

I've only been to one Dave gig because I live in Ireland and they have only played here twice. I got front row at the DMB gig this year and it was mind blowing. The crowd was small, no one shoved or pushed...everyone just stood and sang along, soaking up the atmosphere and the phenomenal talent. I'm only 17, but I hope I have many more DMB gigs to come.

  • @MissesTwishes I was at that gig too. She is not exaggerating. "Bartender, please. . ."

  • @teenageindiefan I'd do anything to relive that gig. Bartender was a cracker of an opening. I had hoped they would play #41 and was gutted when they didn't :( but at least we got The Stone!!

  • @MissesTwishes there ways always gone be stuff they didnt do. like tripping billies and everything. but it was amazin! all along the watchtower was the highlight:D

  • I can't believe only 125,762 people have had the pleasure of listening to this performance! This video should have millions of views!

  • @EgyptianBunso Been seeing dave for the past 19 yrs..lived in VA...and moved to MI...this song always does it for me...never, ever gets old!

  • "What I want is what I've not got, and what I need is all around me" love it!!!

  • They played this song tonight at Alpine Valley. I have to say it was my favorite song of the concert. SO much fun!

  • @BJH515 i too was there, and my mind is still blown!

  • @goldenLIGHT187 i was there too and for some reason i just cant get enough of dave this week amazing show!!

  • I love it when warren and dave get together!

  • ♥♥♥♥

  • Deffinately a contender for best dmb performance of all time

  • amazing band with even better than assumed live talent

  • led zeppelin ramble on

  • so awesome that this cant fit onto one youtube video

  • might be my fav. all round performce of this song.... everyone gets a piece of the jam no one is cut short and dave rocks it. like always

  • Nice, my bowl is named the Fiddle or Fiddy cause it's for lefties and the way I use it, it looks like playing a fiddle and bow. Chyeaahh, Boyd! The fact that some people don't like this music answers the mystery of whether any music can be enjoyed by everyone. This was my favorite band at 6 years old and with everything I've learned since then it still is.

  • Awesome video. I love DMB

  • make me feel better for a small time

  • i heard that its about his bowl named jimi. he smokes weed like a true sir

  • It's so funny, every Dave concert the jocks are on one side while the hippies are on the other, never interacting with eachother. Go figure.

  • R.I.P Leroi, we love you

  • MORE COWBELL!

  • hell yeah

  • @darkmoon532 :-)

  • god damn leroi is amazing.

  • a remedddddddddddy is what im seeking

  • its about getting stoned off weed

  • So much fun. Brings your spirit up.

  • The amount of talent that each and every one of these musicians has with his own instrument is amazing. Put them together, and it is breathtaking. This is just amazing.

  • @rutkiller i beg to differ while they are good groups like dso, phish do it a little better dont get me wrong they are good

  • @cosmic53933 well phish is definitely the better "jam band" if you will, but overall I put dmb over them, just an opinion.

  • 6:42 Who is she?? She looks hot

  • markritz, do you really think anyone recognizes her and knows her name? Central Park was one of the biggest dmb concerts ever

  • no shit dumbass

  • the beginning of this song is the only time i have really heard stefans bass....

  • LeRio is a legend...

  • This is probably the best verzion of Jimi Thing ever performed. I really underestimated Steffan. His Intro solo to Watchtower was amazing at this concert.

  • I love warren's solo the best but up until now i never realized how incredible LeRoi did with this. its amazing!

  • dmb is an awesome singing band but they are a KICKASS jam band

  • Fucking hell yes.

Best band live, such a tight and awesome positive groove, and so much talent.

    Blows me away every time.

  • I love this song. I recommend the version LIVE AT THE GOLDEN GATE. It ends with that other song "for what is worth" (lord of war) and has some wild jams along

  • Best version of this song, along with the one in Chicago 12.19.98

  • boyd is sooo bad-ass...wish he had more solos in some other songs...he's wicked!!

  • 4:48... whoohooo!

  • Great sax solo...

    RIP LeRoi...

  • livehappy4ever is so fucking right!

  • why would you stop this video at warrens solo! WHY?!

  • theres a part 2....

  • dude i love the bass groove in this song but boyds parts are prob my favs

  • 5:09 sends chills down your spine haha

  • I am having Dave withdrawls today... come on Alpine

  • happy birthday boyd

  • Haha Warren Haynes in the background at 0:35 is hilarious. This is my favorite version of this song without a doubt. Everyone is so in sync with each other!!

  • i hate when all the preppy people that go to dmb concerts are all like "why are they not playing the original, they keep going off playin this instrumental crap." i get real pissed off and say, "are you fuckin kidding? this is the best part of the concert! the jamming. thats what it's all about! just chill out an smoke a joint! and listen to the jam, otherwise just go listen to their cd's!"

  • You nailed it. When you started your comment with the phrase "i hate when all the preppy people" that's more or less all you needed to say. . . and I love Dave Matthews' music, don't get me wrong, but that was pretty much the reason why I dropped him like a hot potato. I can't deal with all those cyber-vegan, preppie, hemp wearing, UC-Berkeley- 20 and 30-something fan base of his. They are almost as pathetic as those fucking meth-head hippies who attend Medeski, Martin and Wood shows.

  • lol i agree.

  • 4:56 - 5:10

    That bassss is filthyyyy!!!

  • that's cause carter is the shit

  • Comment removed

  • best version on Jimi thing ever...Best song ever....best concert ever....best band ever!

  • I agree...this is the best version I've heard. Love it

  • what is there that's not good in this?

a good acoustic guitar line, some AWESOME bass playing by stefan, perfect background sax and violin lines that aren't very prominent on the album, carter is doing wonderfully, and dave sings the way that dave sings. the breaks into the solos that are beyond excellent.. perfect performance

  • Carter at 7:36 is PRICELESS!

  • well i could smoke pot to that funky jam all day.

  • i do O.o ;]

  • 4:30-5:15 makes me want to do unspeakable things to that man.

  • This is the best Jimi Thing version I ever heard.

  • is that warren in the back round ??? Know wonder they sound good

  • 4:30 - 5:14 is fuckin BEAST

I mean the whole thing is amazing but that part is one of the pimpinest things I've ever heard.

  • They make it impossible! I mean, they make so good you get lost and jam out for the whole song. And then you look up and realize you jammed the whole way in your own little world and you didn't get to WATCH the show! THERE"S NO WAY TO WIN!! But I guess I cry about lesser things eh...

  • this is dmb at the purest..jamming out and loving every second of it.

  • Its related to jimi hendrix ive heard, something like dave was messing around with a hendrix song and then he just called it jimi thing. hence the reason why jimi has an i at the end of it i guess.

  • i wonna get baked to this song

  • was the title a shot out to jimi hendrix... anyone ??? thanks! :)

  • no its the name of the song ...

  • REALLY ??? you come up with that one yourself einstein ? not the answer i was looking for but thanks anyhow !

  • I believe that its a reference to illegal substances lol

  • Dude i love reading comments posted by people like you(even though there are few). People like Carter Beauford(DMB drummer), Tony Royster, and my band director have impacted me in the same way. I am now in love with music just as you are.

    P.S. I'm a drummer

  • if you look up "real music" in the dictionary im pretty sure theres a portrait of DMB right beside it

  • Well said mate. Real music alright. This performance totally blew my mind, it's unreal.

  • Bass play here is so funky I love it.

  • 6:08....whoaaaa this is sooooo good!

  • yo shut the fuck up...in many ways music changes ppl's lives everyday coudl be in the smallest way...just because you have to pretend to be a hardass to prove shit to people doesnt mean you got the right to go around telling people to get lives, cause im sure you know him real well. Ami right? guess so pussy.

  • dont talk bad about warren.

  • you dont dance to it...you just chill to it ...if anything man u move with the beat and just feel it

  • I really love DMB's music, like really love it, but it always cracks me up watching people dance to it! i don't know why? LoL How do you dance to it? any suggestions..? :-0

  • well when your drunk and high enough you can dance to anything...cmon now that was a given!

  • just gotta let the music hit you man, weed and beer is the answer

  • girl at 3:30 is realy cute lol specially when shes singing and dancing like that and she likes dave matthews bands so she more cute

  • that's kinda creepy dude, do you not get anything in your life in terms of women?

  • these guys are amazing

  • whos that fat dude playin eletric? cus it sure ain't tim reynolds

  • warren haynes for gov'n mule

  • o yea i didn't know wat he looked like

  • yea... warren haynes is mad good in allman bros and gov't. Gotta stay away from the left coast grooviess

  • i jam out hard core to this version every time im in my car...

  • dude i aint gonna lie i do too n in school i like start goin crazy to dave scat in pt. 2 lol n start either dancin or tappin to the beat n everyone is lookin at me n im like day dreamin ha...i woke up once from a dream that i was at a dave concert n i woke up during a class n was like ahh fuck this really sucks doesnt it lol

  • dude aroung the 5 min mark in this song and the scat in pt. 2 give me chilss

  • Same here bro.

  • sooo good!

  • perfect!

  • this song is absolutely amazing. it is so complete in every way. It gives me the chills just listening to it.

  • fucken right.... rock and roll didn't die it just changed shapes..... wicked

  • omg, the black violinist is fucking awesome

  • Thats Boyd Tinsley and you're fucking right.

  • I love his grin. It's so disarming. It's most notable (to me) in the Ants Marching film clip when he grins at the passers-by while jamming out on the violin. :D

  • Favorite of All Time....Period....

  • Damn LeRoi tears shit up in this song

    RIP Big Man :(

  • LOL Warren is just chillin' waiting for it to be over.

    Freakin' awesome song.

If you could keep me floa-ting

    Just for a whi-le

'Til I get to the end of this tunnel

  • Wanna see Warren? Cortez the killer at central!

  • Totally dude. That is an awesome jam.

  • they don't even use warren, even tho hes the most talented guy up there

  • I disagree, they are all talented in their own right...and it's the "warren hayes" band...I like that they kept they didn't try to change the song around warren, and just let him go off at the end...not saying I don't like warren, his fuckin' awsome okay, I like dave and the band a lot more though. the song would still amazing without warren.

  • another great song that highlights leroi's amazing talent! rest in peace leroi

  • RIP LeRoi...it wont be the same

  • Minute 6:07 = a great saxofonist starts his interlude. R.I.P. Leroi, we all loved you, and always will.

  • R.I.P. LeRoi, great sax player.

  • Leroi's solo gives me chills everytime I hear it!!! RIP
