Around the day Christians randomly chose to be the bday of christ Christians do mess with business that try to be inclusive and just say happy holidays instead of putting out a manger scene and a bunch of pagan ornaments the masses attribute to christianity so its only fair that some atheists got tired of that shit and put up their own shit.
i think that sign is horrid. and im an atheist. whether or not he was the son of god i think jesus is a pretty cool guy, eh preaches love and tolerance and doesn't afraid of anything.
Christmas was pagan winter solstice. Nothing to do with Jesus - who was a jewish guy who was killed for being the king of the jews. Jesus, as the idea of monotheism was something that romans could use. They wanted monotheism because they had to make too many stops at the many temples of their gods and monotheism could provide one stop shopping.
Well from all I remember there isn't anything that expressly and outright forbids "drug use". There are some vague/general verses that could be applied to drug use, but their application in that situation can be argued. The bible is a little more specific when it comes to alcohol, but does not forbid it's consumption.
@5thWatcher The difference is that colors aren't claiming to be the saviours of the world and the children of god sent to save your soul from a broken project that your dad created and tried to fix 3 times and still hasn't gotten it right even though he his omnipotent and omniscient and doesn't want to punish you or make you burn in hell but he has to.
Wtf is this mess.
I can't find one war, death, burning, or stoning on google that was waged between two rival colors.
@Jangen google Psalm 22 (its a short chapter, go ahead and read it) You know when that was proven to have been written? over 600yrs before Y'shua (whom the pagan Catholic Christians call Jesus) was even born. By the way, no, it couldn't have been just a basic, general description of an event, as crucifixion hadn't been born in the sick minds of the bastard Romans who enjoyed other peoples pain and death yet.
there were a lot of people who wrote things down back then, and none of them mention jesus. i know what ur guna say: "bullshit what about blah blah". honestly, i am 100% certain. go look for some writings. doesnt mean god doesn't exist
Ok your dumb cause there is plenty of prove of Jesus Christ. The problem is proving He was the son of God. And I know what your gonna do. Your just gonna deny the evidence as hard as you can. You might wanna actually do your homework next time.
Serious question, guy, and I hope you'll actually answer: I am sure you aren't intentionally lying here, but seriously, where or who told you that there were no writings mentioning Jesus other than the Bible and like texts? It perplexes me that so many people seem to think there is no historical evidence for the existence of Jesus, when proof otherwise can be found only a google search away; it's not a secret or anything.
yeah, i've looked for this "proof" you're saying can be easily found, and it ain't there. if it was, wouldn't you be showing it to frustratingly naive people like me? i am just a very apathetic person, more skeptical towards JESUS than i am towards GOD
Yeah I do show it to frustratingly naive people like you, and I will make a video about it, but since it's as historical as anything else we know to be true from that period, it's retarded and redundant that I should have to constantly do homework for people who can't figure out something so fundamental.
look, have i said you're wrong? you probably get asshole atheists telling you you're wrong all the time. i just haven't acknowledge you as correct, because i can't yet. im asking you to show me proof, because i want to believe there is a great spirit in the sky looking out for good people. atheist means does not hold belief. most atheists (not me) extend this and say that they DISbelieve. theres no evidence that you're WRONG, right?
i think its fair for athiest to put signs up. for example on the busses. i ALWAYS see christian ads on busses where im from, and one athiest one goes up and everyone cries. equal is equal thats how it goes, and to be fair christians get it so easy. its the biggest thing in the world and many people believe that to be unjust. i think the reason athiests comment negitively on christianity is because of a completely genuine belief that organised religion causes harm
That was a pretty funny sign. - I agree the athiest sign was intentionally offensive. I guess that's obvious, but I'm glad they did it. I would really like to drive all religous beliefs out of govt. and public places. Seperation of church and state - I think this is important, otherwise soon I could soon be seeing some physcho displaying his religous pig sacrifices on the public square. That's extreme, but you let one display there innocent nativity scene and you gotta let all do there own.
The whole situation reminds me of when I used to have an up-side-down Darwin fish on the back of my car - until it was pulled off by one of those tolerance preaching, diversity loving students at that bastion of liberalism, Rutgers University.
What was that religious Christian display doing on a secular holiday in a secular government building? To any non-Christan it looks like it was there to underscore that Christians re-assert their dominance over society and they reject the secular nature of its government.
What positive message is there in demonstrating your dominance and superiority over minority world views by bullying your way into places that should be neutral? How is that not intentionally provocative?
It is only separate for the sake of your argument, which distorts reality by ignoring the cause and discussing only the effect.
Christians know perfectly well that their religions displays on public property offend non-Christians. But instead of turning the other cheek they drag their nativity scenes out of their churches into public buildings to "harden hearts" and to manufacture fake divisions to "enslave [the] minds" of their followers. The atheistic sign merely states the obvious.
You know that's funny because despite my sarcasm in the video I am not offended by public Menorahs or Wiccan symbols or anything displayed on gov property. The right to a sign/display is fine, but the reason those atheists failed is because they decided to take a dump on peoples' religion rather than focus on something positive. A manger scene only offends in the same manner if it has a sign that says "fuck jews" or something to that effect, to which people would be rightly offended.
Their stated goal was to highlight the lack of church/state separation not to create warm fuzzy feelings and recruit new sheep for the "Church of Atheism". My impression was that they were quite successful at getting the issue on the political radar.
Yeah, I would say "Merry Jesusmas" but I think everybody would think I was mocking Christ. :)
Also, I'm pretty sure that the "Christ" in "Christmas" just is the Greek translation for the Hebrew word "Messiah" which means the Annointed One. I know you're probably just joking, but I don't feel like looking it up because it's 3:00 in the f-ing morning and I need to get to sleep.
Christmas is what is being celebrated - not Jesusmas - Christmas is about economic survival for the corporate structure. Christmas is about showing how much money, friends and relatives you have by throwing big dinners and giving expensive presents. Christmas it the time when they are more suicides because it suck-ceeds at making people feel lonely and abadoned. Merry Christmas.
Way to deliver the ultimate Arab insult to that wreath! Atheism cannot stand on it's own merit, because it has none. So atheists attack & disrespect others who don't share their system of non-belief.
"We don't go around in the name of christmas telling people "Oh atheism's bad you should be christians"
Yeah you guys reserve the other 364 days of the year to do that :-p
I agree with you on the sign though. It seems like they just put that up, knowing people would be offended, so they could claim unfair treatment. now there IS a lot of unfair treatment against us, of course, but that was bullshit.
Indeed, and the sign sucks because it paints another bad image. But i suppose there is that minority of angsty 14 year old atheists that ought to be schooled in manners before released onto the public... I'm doing my part over here with the Christians... so get to work. :-P
Do you really have self proclaimed Satanists at your work? My religious tolerance with Satanists is extremely thin since they are by definition egoists (read: Assholes). Egoists are the bane of society.
He's the lead singer for a local "death Metal" band, oddly enough he's a very nice person, who likes reading the Bible. He claims he can feel the power of "his" God,but rejects the Judea/Christian aspect.
I do like your sign, and I think you would be perfectly within your rights to post it. And of course the Jews would be perfectly within their rights to say that your savior is a fraud and that the real messiah still hasn't yet come.
The issue in Washington was religious signs on public property, so it was really more of a political statement with a twist of religious zest. I wonder if a Church of Satan sign would cause more or less uproar?
That may have been the issue on paper, but across the country to buzz was about they style of messages they put fourth. Unfortunately for the cool-headed atheists, they now feel the pain of guys like me who have to constantly bat away stereotypes.
I gotta tell you; I almost didn't want to go there with Hanukkah, but I figured there would be almost no way people wouldn't get the point I was going for.
Then that makes you shallow. I don't judge you or anyone else by your beliefs, however I do have a disdain for intolerance, which you seem to have.
What about what I believe makes me less worthy of respect? It certainly couldn't be any perceived intolerance; you're clearly the one with that problem and you have no basis to claim ANYTHING I believe has ANY negative effect at ALL and I challenge you to name ONE REASON what I believe is in any way negitive.
That's not really what I meant, I was being silly when I said that. I am talking about a religious affiliation having a negative effect of another person's view of me.
I don't do that to anyone else, so what could I possibly believe (specifically) that would cause you to take a lesser view of me?
Feel free to forget that this has anything to do with sexiness, that's just totally beside the point.
I am asking you SPECIFICALLY, IE, name a SPECIFIC THING about believing in a god or gods that would cause you to find a person less favorable in ANY way.
I don't sit around and have conversations with God, nor do assume a God entity has any talking to do. I am cautious about prescribing any qualities to God and I would never assert that I know God exists with 100% certainty. I am somewhat of an agnostic in that way. At the end of the day, I ultimately do not know. I tend to believe there is a decent chance that something created the universe and I realize that from that speculation all we can do is further speculate.
I choose Christianity because I like it's teachings of tolerance, forgiveness and love. I also choose Taoism for similar reasons. (The two are very compatible)
If a "sky daddy" exists or not, I am Christian because I follow the teachings of Jesus.
Therefore, it would be hard to say I have any "imaginary friends". Hence your judgment was based on ignorance, which was my point with all this.
Get to know a dude before you start assuming everything about them.
If the majority of Christians were more like you, I think the world would be a better place. I'm more inclined to listen to someone who's willing to admit they may be wrong.
"The word Christmas originated as a compound meaning "Christ's Mass". It is derived from the Middle English Christemasse and Old English Cristes mæsse, a phrase first recorded in 1038. "Cristes" is from Greek Christos and "mæsse" is from Latin missa. In Greek, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ, and it, or the similar Roman letter X, has been used as an abbreviation for Christ since the mid-16th century. Hence, Xmas is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas."
Nope, not serious. :-P With your first comment I was unsure if you knew I was kidding or not though, so I decided to milk it and see how that went. :-P
You've still got plausible deniability in saying that you were partially kidding along with me and partially covering your bases by citing the factual information.
My dad told me earlier that he wasn't sure if I believed in "Jesusmas" and I told him it didn't matter if I did or not. I don't have a problem with giving gifts either way. Maybe opposites can come together.
Btw, you did a good job on the sign. :P The cat didn't want to seem to cooperate though.
christmas. "christ". as in jesus christ. and anyway he wasnt even born on the 25th of december. lol nice video though. im sure alot of morons will believe you.
You Christians don't go around in the name of Christmas saying atheism is bad?
True. However, I've seen way more Christians going around in the name of God saying atheists have no morals and bla bla bla (evil heretics will burn in hell) than vice versa.
I don't think you'd do that, but I could point you in the direction of Togetherforpeace and the more fundementalist kind Jezuzfreek777.
I agree that those atheists who made the sign were dicks, though.
I really am not sure that TogetherForPeace would say that. JesusFreek777 would, but Jack really is one of the better Christians on Youtube in my opinion.
JezuzFreek777 seems like a pretty good guy to me. He's friends with atheists and never insults anyone just to insult them. He's just convicted and isn't afraid to say what he really believes. And if you take the Bible literally then it's hard not to come away with an interpretation that's close to his. He's not a hateful guy, but he doesn't try to sugarcoat his beliefs. And while I don't always agree with his conclusions, I have to respect that about him.
Yes, he remains polite, even when he is pretty much explaining how what he believes is morally superior to everything else. On a scale of 1 to 10, he often gets s 12 when it comes to tact. That's not what we're on about though.
I was recently thinking of trying to mix it up with a Heroes type intro but there are a lot of subtleties to that which would make it hard to copy. I still may give it a shot, though.
I actually have two cats back here at home. That one is way to friendly to be considered like Garfield, even if she looks like him. The other cat pretty much is Garfield though...
A while ago I left comments on all the channels with names like mine but with different numbers. I think 1stWatcher is the only one that even has anything other than a blank page.

Wiki:
"The word Christmas originated as a compound meaning "Christ's Mass". It is derived from the Middle English Christemasse and Old English Cristes mæsse, a phrase first recorded in 1038. "Cristes" is from Greek Christos and "mæsse" is from Latin missa. In Greek, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ, and it, or the similar Roman letter X, has been used as an abbreviation for Christ since the mid-16th century. Hence, Xmas is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas."

Yes, the unreliability of Wikipedia is just a damn shame.
5thWatcher 3 years ago
Your kidding right? I thought this was a big joe.. it's not april 1st.. :P
Christmas contains the word Christ, however you seem to be saying it's derived from Chris T? Please back up your claims if your serious lol.
eNathan314 3 years ago
Nope, not serious. :-P With your first comment I was unsure if you knew I was kidding or not though, so I decided to milk it and see how that went. :-P
5thWatcher 3 years ago
haha.. nice nice. damn, you should del my comments so that the peeps reading this won't know.
eNathan314 3 years ago
You've still got plausible deniability in saying that you were partially kidding along with me and partially covering your bases by citing the factual information.
5thWatcher 3 years ago
Chris T was Arius' homeboy.

I dunno about all that. I think the very idea of heresy is heresy, so him being labeled as such I don't think makes him a bad guy.
Joan of Arc was burned at the stake for heresy.... then later they were like: "Whoops" and made her a Saint.
Yup. Woopsie-dasie.
5thWatcher 3 years ago
Well you do have a bit of a point there. But meh...
Still, since you brought up Nicea, I figured that the joke would be kind of appropriate. I think?
lewisfisher 3 years ago
It was. I was the one that killed it, like a Buzz McKillington.

Great! Awesome! Wow! You're so funny! I'm glad I actually sat thru this whole thing! Merry Jesus Mass!

Merry Christmas dude.
Mastikator 3 years ago
Ah you take this video too seriously. :-P
I really am not sure that TogetherForPeace would say that. JesusFreek777 would, but Jack really is one of the better Christians on Youtube in my opinion.
Merry Jesusmas to you too. :-)
5thWatcher 3 years ago
JezuzFreek777 seems like a pretty good guy to me. He's friends with atheists and never insults anyone just to insult them. He's just convicted and isn't afraid to say what he really believes. And if you take the Bible literally then it's hard not to come away with an interpretation that's close to his. He's not a hateful guy, but he doesn't try to sugarcoat his beliefs. And while I don't always agree with his conclusions, I have to respect that about him.
Ashloomis 3 years ago
Yes, he remains polite, even when he is pretty much explaining how what he believes is morally superior to everything else. On a scale of 1 to 10, he often gets s 12 when it comes to tact. That's not what we're on about though.
5thWatcher 3 years ago
You have the best intro. Also, was that Garfield there at the end?
theheat151 3 years ago
I was recently thinking of trying to mix it up with a Heroes type intro but there are a lot of subtleties to that which would make it hard to copy. I still may give it a shot, though.
I actually have two cats back here at home. That one is way to friendly to be considered like Garfield, even if she looks like him. The other cat pretty much is Garfield though...

The 7thWatcher is pretty good. Not as good as you.

A while ago I left comments on all the channels with names like mine but with different numbers. I think 1stWatcher is the only one that even has anything other than a blank page.
