Causes of WWI? Look no further than the Rothschild's plan to create a One World Government. After all, it was their central banks from whom the empires borrowed the money to finance it.
@smurfkidharley. You are right with the "official" reason to why Britain declared war with Germany. Britain had a choice to whether she would fight against Germany. So why should the British government choose to pursue war against Germany? But when you take into various economic and colonial facts into account, Britain's fought against Germany when its costs exceed the benefits. It seems more plausible that Britain went to war for useless political agenda held by the government.
BS, it was France and Britain who declared war on Germany. Germany would have avoid declaring war on France to avoid a two front war and France was not a threat. France saw it as an opportunity to get even with Germany and Britain went to war to make a point that there should only be one major force in Western Europe - Germany was not welcome to compete with Britain (even though such competition brought no harm, but commercial benefits, to Britain's economy and her colonies).
@TKKTism not too sure but if i can remember back to history, germany did want to avoid war on two fronts, but war with russia would almost guarantee an attack from france, so germany's solution was to make the first move and attack france via belgium, we moved in to defend belgium and france which is how britain got involved (once again not 100% sure)
i hope i don't sound like a stupid american, but when i was young i learned 4 M.A.I.N. reasons for WW1 were Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism
@tubertomp Well, because those aspects were present, everything escalated into a world war, however, an initial spark was necessary. The assassination of archduke Ferdinand was that spark. Also, this sketch does outline the A bit. Namely, Britain getting pulled into the war due to its alliances despite the fact that it wasn't related to the initial conflict at all.
@JKConquerer Yeah thats exactly what i was thinking, im trying to deside which explanation i prefure, i think im slightly on the side of Blackadders explanation being funnier.
First I thought Horrible Histories was the funniest way to learn history. Now I've found Hetalia AND I CANT DECIDE WHICH IS BETTER!! waaaahhhhh... I'll just say they are equally awesome :D
@LalaKimeee I should be writing an essay on the causes of WWI so I just started watching this! But all I can remember is "AUSTRIA AND GERMANY SITTING IN A TREE K I S S I N G!"
Though the CentralPowers formed in 1879 and the Entente in 1904 (to counter the CentralPowers in a future war)
Von Schlieffen devised his attack plan in 1905
Germany pressured Austria-Hungary to drive a very harsh line with Serbia (thus angering the Russians). The German historian Fritz Fischer writes that Germany indeed was the country most responsible for egging on the cockfight, and spreading the conflict to other countries
WWI wasn't about some obscure archduke nobody liked
I must have heard this when I was little in history class, but this is the first time I've properly heard why we went into WWI. How fucking stupid can this planet get?
I think horrible histories made Blinkensop say "I support Arsenal" not only to be funny, but to be clever. Know how an arsenal is where ammunition is made. Smart
@chargers705 It's a Japanese anime in which each character is a personification of a certain country (and characterized by the stereotypes of that country- so America is loud and obnoxious, Britain drinks lots of tea and does black magic, Germany is all stern and yells a lot, and so on). It teaches world history through funny shorts. Most of the plot takes place during WWII, and Italy is the main character. Which is odd, because Italy was pretty much useless in the war.
@chargers705 Basically Hetalia is an anime parodising world history, mostly on World Wars one and two. The characters are human forms of all the countries around the world, all of them portrayed by their steriotypes. You really should look it up, it's one of the funniest shows I ever seen.
To be honest Germany was preparing for war long before any of this Russian and Austrian business took place! I mean do you really believe Germany created the 'Nazi's' and the biggest army in the world ready to take over it, just to stick up for Austria? This video is the most misleading video I have ever seen! Russia attacking Austria was just one of 100 reasons why Germany challenged the world and you know it!
@007Influence I think you're talking about World War II rather than World War I. Germany certainly was prepared for war in the 1870s just in case, but not to take over the world. They had a plan to attack France and Russia at the same time to protect their borders should either France or Russia attack Germany. The Nazis didn't appear as a significant force till after World War I and mostly as of a result of the Treaty of Versailles.
@lonepisces2 But Germany attacked Poland before they did anywhere else, their intentions weren't to defend themselves, but to put themselves on the map as equal (or from what the war become) yet a superior nation to all others and for every other country to speak German and for them to respect the Reich.
@007Influence the nazis werent a prominent force till after world war 1 they where laughed at and belittled then the treaty of versailles came and well people started listening
@brigeboy95 They didn't even exist untill after WW1 - It was the Treaty of Versailles, the Wall Street crash, The Occupation of the Ruhr and the constant coalition and un-unified political parties that created the NSDWP. The Nazi's weren't laughed at in the slightest - People feared them, Hitler was laughed at by Hindenburg, who didn't understand Hitler and thought that he could be silenced if he was made chancellor - big mistake. Don't forget that Hitler had the SA under his control.
Anyone else noticed that Russia wasn't involved?! Tehy were having a civil war of their own to deal with. People weren't happy that they were ruled by an emperor, so they wanted changes...
I think a simpler way to put why Britain went to war is that they were trying to maintain the balance of power in Europe. They weren't confident France and Russia could avoid defeat unaided.
