  • ka-BOOOM plastic supercar>:D

  • He aquaplaned.

  • the left tyres went onto the grass, causing the car to shift its weight. Also if the driver was on the right hand side, it would put even more weight onto the grass making it more sevre

  • what an utter pillock! it's an aston, not a f1 car..

  • thats my DAD

  • thtas me dad

  • after 0:14 the video is pretty shit

  • Uy ¡¡¡

  • @jameznewman and who exactly are you big man -

  • wasnt he a potential customer?

  • @scottd2k7 its my girlrfriends dads car....

  • I was actually there.

Me and my mate was standing on the other side of the track next to the marshal with the hi-vis vest. Survival instinct kicked in as we ducked for cover.

Although the driver was uninjured a lot of carbon fibre got sprayed into the crowd. You can see medics going into the crowd to the right of the camera near the end of the clip.

I've been to Goodwood for four years running now and this was the most spectacular crash to date.

  • what a pile of crap car, looks better with the dents and the smoke out the bonnet, hahahahaha

  • What the hell was he thinking!! Its wet for gods sake!!

  • was he okay?

  • OMG!!!!!! I was in that exact spot at the exact same time in that exact grandstand THE DAY B4 THAT HAPPENED!!!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • i feel sorry for you, anyway, are there any injury?

  • Stopo

slagging the driver off his my uncle.

  • he's a shit driver

  • poor car

  • great car, bad conditions, stupid driver

  • That's one hell of a bad crash :-(

  • actuali in all fairness it is a wet track... ill giv him the benefit of the doubt

  • i luv the car... but wot a wanker!

  • He should have driven a Porsche 911.

  • poor guy... imagine how guuted he must have been crashing a £100000 car!! those people who are slagging him ooff should shut the hell up.. all he was trying to do is put on a good show for the crowd! whoever is saying he did it wrong. i would like to see you take a car up there... then the car would really be in danger..

  • agree if i had the chance to drive that a the gwfos i wouldent drive at 30 i would push the car to know hiw fast and what a good car it is and so no body called me a slow coach

  • good point well made, u know what ur talking about, unlike the twat saying about the 911

  • Powerful rear wheel drive. Wet circuit. Driver gunning it. All equals trouble !

  • have to say that it was very wet at goodwood this year. atleast this guy actually gave it some non of the supercar drivers on the friday did they just went up at like 50mph.

  • Bummer.

  • For those of you who have commented on this video syaing what the driver did wrong, hand up those of you who have actually raced a car? I presume that those of you who say its easy must all be in F1.

  • beautiful car!

  • not anymore!

  • I agree with rabbitlegs...dont disrespect the drivers. Now if it was a rich ass bastard who owned it and didnt know hwo to drive....then you guys can say whatever you like, but not when the driver is a skilled driver and has been doing it for years.

  • First off he took the wrong line, second, was going too fast into the corner which caused him to go too hard on the brakes. You can see the weight of the car transfer off the rear wheels to the front, causing the rear wheels to loose grip, thus the back end coming loose on him and... boom.

  • Bet he feels like a prize twat - lol

  • Too fast, too late on brakes on wet..

    Shame that car though.

  • it's a same to see such a nice car go to waste

  • As much as I hate to see such a car get thrashed like that, I can't agree it's gone to waste. How many fine cars get pampered but never run even close to their potential? I agree with other posters though: guy wasn't too good a driver.

  • surprising how durable those hay sacks are.

  • lol

  • Eh I could have saved it....lol

  • not funnny at all.

that sucks such a beautiful car an aston..

and in the goodwood festival damn taht must suck.

  • we were right by goodwood house on the friday, it was so funny especially his facial expressions as he got out.

  • I actually think it was wheelspin which caused this accident, you can hear the engine rev out just before the car skews

  • i know why he had the crash he had the wrong line into the corner

  • Well tell the guy to read the back of the tickets, it says "motorsport is dangerous" and it means it. Hope he recovers

  • its in the chichester paper front page this week! hp and wet track =ouch it broke four of the posts behind the bales and one guy got hit in the face with debris.

  • I was looking out for that car when i went on saturday, i didnt know it had crashed the day before...!

  • Looking at the hi-quality vid, it seems like he made a slight steering correction at 2.10 secs after noticing he was way too close to the grass. Then entered the grass, lost grip at rear and counter-steered, then mid-corner suddenly the left rear got grip once again sending the car where it was pointed at :)

Summing up, wrong line + wet track + hesitation = disaster

  • I saw the crash i was there. A bloke got hit in the face with a piece of carbon fibre that flew of the front bumber when it first hit the hay bail. It was amazing to watch. By the way. Goodwood Festival of Speed 2007 was Amazing!

  • lol hit in the face !! fuck !!

  • thats a sweet video, i bet your realy pleased that you got it on film lol.

  • If you go to 'w w w . F64 . me . uk' you can download a higher res file which I've put there.

  • thanks for that im downloading it now :)........and watching it now :).

  • It annoys me when people bad mouth the driver or call new Aston's, fords. Aston's are a Damn site better than regular Fords, and nothing like.

Anyway, He probably aquaplaned or something. But still, not a way to see £80,000 worth of car bite the dust.

  • Nasty crash, I hate to see a great car like that kick the bucket due to driver error.

Alexthekid, you no very little. The interior is as similar to a Focus as it is to my right nostril, and that fabulous engine can be heard from 2 miles away. Also, that looks like the brand new racing-spec N24, worth more than £80k.

  • Im not a racing driver but that seemed to be a suicidal speed to be going on a wet narrow track, with no room for error, in a powerful front engined rear wheel driven car - I know i would have crashed as well.

"alexthekid99" if someone offered you the keys to a ford focus or an aston martin V8 vantage, you would say "i dont care, they are pretty much the same"????? - seriously mate, think before you speak.

  • interior is the same as a focus, engine isnt much better

  • You tell me one car around its price range that's better.

  • what car do you drive then alexthekid99

  • LOL not a good one. I wouldnt sneeze at an aston martin, but they unfortuneately have to raid the ford parts bin due to lack of finance. Unlike porsche or ferrari

  • It's no longer Ford. Besides, it's as much as Ford as Ferrari's a Fiat.

Shame though. Another beautiful car destroyed. At least it died at Goodwood. Good place for a car to die.

  • anybody badmouthing the driver should really keep there shut, you have no idea what happened here.

a crash is a crash, if it could have been avoided then it would have been

Its very easy to talk shit behind a keyboard and screen

  • well said that man

  • here here Midgray here here!

  • auch

  • haha

  • the driver basically set up the pendolum a little earlier without controlling traction on the rear wheels. this forced the car into a little of understeering and started the early spinning when the grip came up back. it was a mistake and nothing else. it happens.

  • the driver immediately blamed it on a patch of mud as he came past the marshalls, but the marshalls think it was a combination of the rain that had just occured and the mud.

  • actually I've driven one before and it was rediculously easy to drive... Quite amazing to see that this guy is such a bad driver as to crash it, admittedly it was quite wet but nothing a good driver couldn't handle...

  • Don't talk such shit.. the cloest you've come to driving an aston RACER is in your wet dreams anime geek. You have NO idea.

  • you say he is a bad driver do you know him ? probably not , you are just a green eyed twat

  • Try editing the video. Chop everything after 10 seconds - nothing else happens.

  • Damn, i didn't even know it had crashed. I was caught in the rain on friday, but luckily i was at the Jaguar stand and had to duck for cover. The Aston Martin sounded great. Nasty amount of rain on the day

  • the crash happened just after the down pour buddy. I was at the jag stand at the same time as you!

  • I got the 2nd best time of the day. I was wearing red puma and ferrari trainers with my older uncle and my lanky cousin at the rear right wheel changing an F1 tyre

  • Yes They are i've got one, easy to drive IF you have the skills if you aint got these skills don't drive em!

  • Ok, I see lots of comments here, simple truth time people... TOO MUCH MONEY, TOO LITTLE TALLENT COUPLED WITH VERY LITTLE UP TOP IN THE BRAIN DEPARTMENT!! If you want to play proper race driver GO PLAY ON A PROPER TRACK!! Lord Forntlaroy in his Aston showing off to his pals may be impressive but sooner or later some poor sod will cop it, final word....PILLOCK!!

  • I was in the crowd!

  • rear left tyre hit the grass, span up and once back on the tarmac due to the limited slip differential, dispatched the car to the right into the bales. nasty

  • The best motorsport event in the world!

  • oh yes was there by where cars return to padock and driver said there was mud on the track and if you hear the engine note just prior to accident it revs up on n point where he lost the car nice video

  • that's because he was half on the grass lol.

  • I was also there and stood at about the point where the driver lost control between paddock 1 and paddock 2. The accident was the biggest I'd ever seen and this video doesn't do it justice but what a great video and it's fantastic that you caught it. It looked worse down near the bales though ;) lol

  • lost backgrip on the braking, must have released throttle too fast

  • We were standing waiting to cross and were covered in turf and carbon fibre...quite frightening but spectacular!

  • i was trying to take a photo of the cars as they passed by. had the spot where the aston hit the hay bales in focus ready for a photo, and took it just as it crashed!!

fortunately, the guy who got hit survived with no more than a few cuts, bruises and dented ego

  • wheres the picture?

  • yeh, would like to see the picture

  • where can i upload it to? i will put it on facebook I think.

  • That is a broken ****ing car :-(

  • Stood right next to this! Spectacular, just as long as you weren't the guy in the crowd who got clouted by debris!

  • yeah i was in the pits looking at the lancias when this happened, poor aston. I never knew about the crash in 2000 where a driver died :S !!

  • type "John Dawson-Damer fatal accident @ Goodwood" on Youtube and you see the video

Be warned, this does not make for pleasant viewing. I happened to be at the paddock when it happened, it was caused by a driver having a heart attack and that crash finished him off.

I have met the other marshal who got involved in the crash two years later at the same event, he comes across as a a genuine enthusiast regardless of the circumstances, I wish I could see him again.

  • i was there, it was really quite something.
