@lshobie I'm in Ontario and use a company out of Toronto to bring my trcks in from Japan, who did you use to import your trucks? The Islands have them LH, but can not find anyone to import.
@MrMichaelStangl I used to import them myself - Adventure Auto Imports, shut the doors at a good time when the market was just flooding. Only brought in cruisers, some suzukis and BMW's for fun.
Great video! What is the curb weight of your vehicle and the capacity of your winch? Do you think you would have had the same results i.e. a free vehicle with a come along? Minus the hard work of winching yourself out haha
@byoungizzle weighs about 5400lbs and the winch with upgrades probably pulls about 14000 plus but have never measured it. depends on what the comealong is rated at and if you have snatch blocks. that pull wouldnt have happened for me with a comalong unless i had some serious cable, pulleys and a couple of days:)
next time just try using the winch. your wheels just kept digging down. if you would have free wheeled your tires would have popped up on top of the mud
@lshobie oh thats ok im Australian and down here we dont mind Canadians, We get sick of big mouth Yanks though that think there Shit dont stink and think they are the greatest country in the world blah blah blah...
@lshobie Better than a jeep! Ouch ;) Seeing how this is renfrew, I'll makesure to pull your truck out with my 'lowly' cherokee if im ever out and about ;) heheh take care
nice rig dude!!!shouldn't you let the winch cool after the long pulls? sure did take alot to get outta that hole! But now you can go through it again easy=p
@stifoam Check out my warn 8274 videos, I have a complete breakdown on youtube now and will be adding my rebuild and modifications video in the next couple of weeks!
That is the most halarious whinching job i have ever seen, you can tell it was your first time! By spinning the wheels like that you just added so much more unnecessary strain to the whinch.
Next time try keeping the clutch in while reving it and let the whinch pull you out without trying to sink your car further in the mud and bulldozing the mud out with you.
@TropicalConfederate It does have an arb air locker i the front, was on most of the time but when I was just coming out the winch remote cable hit the switch and shut it off - so that's why it didn't look like I had one. But to be very honest - the lockers did very little in that clay.
Superswamper TSL 36X13X16's. Pretty good in the mud but fricking horrible on the road. I have to install the tires at the trail head now because they are so out of balance - and yes I have tried beads, balls, powders - they just can't be balanced I guess. Thanks for looking!
@dag00ber yes, I couldn't believe that it did it on a straight line pull with no snatch block. I saw a rough calculator once but I can't find it anymore, it gave a rough idea of how much the pull is when stuck in certain terrain with X size tires/weight of truck etc etc. My truck is 5600 pounds, 36 inch tires, and it was in clay pulling up to the top of the bumper which is alot higher than stock. So - how much would that pull be? Well over 10,000 pounds I bet.
@lshobie wow thats crazy! i just bought a used warn 8274 off a guy here for 500$. just have to mount it on my jeep yj. after seing this vid i bet it could get me out of anything i get stuck in.
@dag00ber well don't forget that I modified the winch - I cut the drum off which is a 3 inch wide drum, I replaced it with a 1.5 inch solid shaft - so effectively it has twice the pulling power - but it is a little slower now. Good deal on the winch!.
@lshobie yeah i want to keep the speed of it so i dont think i'll be doing that. are you using 100 foot or a 150 foot line? the one i got has 100 feet of synthetic line. it should be more than enough to pull my 2.5L yj with a 4" lift and 33's.
@dag00ber I have 125 or synthetic masterpull line, I could probably put 200 feet on it now because when I narrowed the drum I also made it 3 inches wider. Best thing to do is use a snatch block on big pulls - but I am sure it will haul your butt out easy.
LOL, ya no kidding, didn't think I'd have an issue like that - but then again that "snowplow" is 3 feet off the ground - so most of the time I don't have an issue with it.
i'm in canada too, what year is this LC 2004??it is from port hope mine??how come u get plates??i want bring here LC from europe but, have to by 15 year or older that is sucks.but i hope one day i can drive here in Ottawa LC 105!!
if you were smark, you would get more clearance for your LC and secondly and more important, you should have had the boys lay down on the front seat in case the winch cable broke and came rocketing into the windshield.
Hi there, it has 4.5 inches of lift and 36 inch tires - how much more should I lift it:)
The cable is actually synthetic rope, when it breaks it falls to the ground, but just to be safe I always put a heavy blanket on the cable - so I'd rather have my kids in the truck than outside where I can't control them - but I understand your concern.
Where are you? That was amazing, i cant believe it pulled you out of that without smoking! I have a HZJ78 with the 1HD-FTE (factory Turbo diesel) Aust. spec. It yours the 1HZ? Sounded like it, slow, but always pulls. Sick video
Hi there, thanks! I'm in Canada, that winch is awesome, going to make some more mods as well. My truck is 5600 pounds, had 37 X12.5 tires and it was in very thick and hard clay up and over the front bumper, that winch must have been pulling atleast 12-14K pounds.
que muchacho mas burro de pana siempre com la direcsion recta para salir mais facil sim forzar mucho el guienche es jirando la direcsion para que los cauchos agarrem mejor
Hey, nice video, I'm glad you are having fun with your winch.
I noticed that you told your kids to get inside the vehicle, in case the winch cable snapped. In fact, if the winch cable (or the shackle or whatever you attached it to) had snapped, there is a significant chance that it would have gone through the windshield, and through anyone in the way.
The safest place to be is perpendicular to the cable (on the side). Putting a sandbag in the middle can slow a snapped cable too.
Thanks for the comments. Special circumstances require special tactics, for example - try letting a 3 and 5 year old run free while you are winching - where do you think they will end up?
Also, what you can't see is a mat on the rope, and it is synthetic rope which stores very little energy when under load - it pretty much just drops when it breaks.
Ya that was stuck pretty good, I did a rough estimate on the pull and it was probably pulling about 12-13000 pounds of truck and mud. The kids love this truck we have a blast in it.
