Lol.. nice one! Did you try Chimay beer too? A friend brought me 3 of these from Belgium. I drank the 3 while sitting on the sofa watching a football game, When i got up to go to the bathrom, i realized that i was fuckin'drunk. Belgium beer is heavy!! ANd delicious! :)))
@sebemmano I have actually tried it! I can't remember if it was at this pub or somewhere else. Yeah, it's pretty decent stuff! Glad you enjoyed the beer, and the video!
Glad you liked it! The song is "Ça plane pour moi" by Plastic Bertrand, a Belgian singer. It was a 'One Hit Wonder' in the English world, although he had a lot more success in Europe.
Cool - just been reading about it. Do you mean the one at Inman Square or the one just off the freeway in Back Bay (which everyone seems to prefer)? Looks like a GOOD pub.
I have only been to the one near Berkeley College of music near Boylston st. I didn't know there was one in Inman Square. I'll have to try that one. Thanks..
The song is 'Ça plane pour moi' by Belgian punk rocker Plastic Bertrand, released in 1977. He has kept peforming up to the present, but as far as I know, this was his only successful song outside of Europe.
Very cool - I have been to Belgium and the Krieks and Lambics and trappist Ales are unsurpassed ! The Cherry Kriek is my favorite but by the time most Belgian brews get to the states they are all but ruined in transportation due to temp and light changes and disturbing the sediments etc.. its a shame too - a lot of the ones I have tried here in the states were all but rotten giving them a bad name, Even Chimay Ale is very delicate and goes bad easy :^( oh, well - great video though !!
Actually the raspberry one in the still shots was really nice too! Amazing what they have.
I think damage in transit is massively underestimated, especially by the wine trade. Beer seems to have fixed it with local manufacturing, but I think their motivation is economic, not quality driven.
I guess the answer in this case is to spend more time in Belgium! ;)
Thanks Regina! I _really_ wanted to use this music but was worried about using a French singer on a Belgian video. I decided to check on a hunch, and was incredibly pleased to find out that the guy actually _was_ Belgian!
I was briefly in Austria (just) on this trip. I guess a night in Reutte doesn't really count as seeing the country, but at least I set foot in it!
A tiny town in Tyrol, just across the border from Füssen, Germany - and yeah, it was enough to put a tick on the list! ;)
Frankly, no-one goes to Belgium unless they have to. The appeal isn't immediately obvious, but it was genuinely fun hanging out there (especially after small town Germany).
seriously...BEST VIDEO VER!!! i can't wat till roel waks up so i can show this to him!!!! soooo, how was the de koninck??? delicious???? last time we were there we noticed it was a bit sweeter then it had been...but still yummy!!
Very much LOL! I hope he doesn't take offence at the tongue in cheek intro.
Yeah, it was great! Only problem was, it was a normal beer in amongst a bunch of very wierd ones, so it stood out less from the crowd.
The Belgian beers were AMAZING! Sooo much better than the commercial rubbish we have to put up with. The difference was so dramatic. We had beer with every meal (where we'd normally have wine) and tried for as much variety as possible.
LOL! This video has been favourited by you, AND linked to (without permission - but who am I to whine about violations) by some random travel video page! Both new experiences for me. I guess taking your advice turns out OK after all!
God, it was a dangerous place! The beers were all 220-250 ml (about 8 fl oz) so you could just throw them back, and then there were hundreds more to choose from! Luckily we had to go after a few rounds.
Feel free to go there next time you're in Belgium! Tell them I sent you...
BTW, I tried some of your compression tricks with this. I can't do everything you do because it's just WMM, but I think it helps.

lol. Try Bukowski's in Boston, MA. Yes there is a strong tendency to name pubs after poets and writers around here.

LOL! I'd forgotten about this conversation! The pub sounds great!

That picture with the beer was really cool. Everything had a reddish tinge to it.
So much beer! X_X

LOL! Thanks! All done with just my little Sony Cybershot (DSC-T1). I can't believe how much you can do with such a tiny camera.
Yeah, it was so hard to decide what to try, then after a few of them - well - it was hard to decide anything!

oh - I used to have this song, a French new Wave band ?> but I can't remember their name !? Did I miss it somewhere ?

It's in the opening titles, but easy to miss. ;)

Hm, to be honest: I don't even know where Reutte is... but it definitely counts as visited ;)
I've never been to Belguim (although I lived in Paris for one year), so for me, that's a white spot on my map of Europe ;(

That place would be totally wasted on me. I don't like beer T-T
But I hope you liked it =D And that you had a great time there. AND I'm glad you posted this up n_n!
ZachrielCL 4 years ago
I don't normally drink a huge amount of it, but this stuff was fun - it came in loads of different flavours.
Thanks! :D

2000 different types of beer?!
wow.. that's insane!
Dinzla 4 years ago
Yeah, they weren't kidding. Most of the menu was close-typed lists. Asking for stuff at random worked.
I asked the waiter where they kept it & he said there was a cool room out the back about the size of the pub & it was stored alphabetically.
It was crazy how much it made you want to try them all! Also, it wasn't expensive which made it doubly dangerous.

When you visit Callie after she moves to Belgium, she can take you there! It's in the center of Brussels & very well known.
Hey, you can film it as a video response!

Well I for one enjoyed this video a lot! So a big thank you to Callie for convincing you to post it public ;)
I have not been to Belgium so this was a fun snapshot! =)
And I do love further reading, hehe ^^

LOL! Damn that was quick! I guess you're confined to your bedroom for the moment.
:) I put it in there for you and the rest of the Wiki addicts!
Why thankyou for the compliments. I think I managed to _just_ save this one.
zebidee55 4 years ago
I'd actually only come online that moment - another of our weird timing coincidences! But yes, I'm pretty confined at the moment, hehe
TheRavenOfPoe 4 years ago
That's actually bizarre with our timing. I've lost count of the number of times that's happened!
Hope your noggin is feeling better and you haven't run out of soup...
zebidee55 4 years ago
So have I, and it is unusual for anyone to be on even a similar timing schedule to mine with the nocturnal hours as well, lol
The pain is less today which is good and although the soup supplies are lowering I have rediscovered the joys of mashed banana, hehe..

LOL! With sugar and cream?
Yeah, I think we all go onto YT insomnia patterns, it's just I'm the only person in the same time zone as you.
