  • The Coast Guard is definately a proud branch of the U.S. military. People just don't consider it as widely as say, the Army or the Air Force, etc. They put great effort in and serve this country. I'm only 16 but I definately want to be a member of the Coast Guard.

  • I really find it very , very sad that anyone would have the ignorance to put down the Coast Guard , Regardless the path they took was each of their own individual choices - they are strong and as brave as any other service memeber - And whether they only guard the US shores or foreign - SOMEONE has to gurard our shores right ? This is silly , I personally "Thank" our Coast Guard for a job well done !

    HM2 USN

  • How do you prepare for the Coast Guard's approval of homosexuals and punishing those who disapprove, especially in light of the curse pronounced on those who say call it "good" in Isaiah 5:20?

  • @Occupy4now no one cares.

  • I went to the movie theater the other day and I showed them my CAC Card and got a Military Discount...a Coast Guardsman showed his and they didn't give him one because the Coast Guard is a part of Homeland Security...not the Department of Defense.

  • The Coast Guard is NOT a true military branch. It is under the Dept. Of Homeland Security, thus making it only a government agency.

  • @duncan7599 You are very misinformed, the CG has served in combat in WWII, VietNam, and in Both Gulf wars! If you don't believe me Google Douglas A Munro.

  • @duncan7599 Have you told this to the Coast Veterans who landed tens of thousands of our our troops in ww2, Korea, and Vietnam? What about our current servicemen in the CG who are on the Maritime security response team? Have you told them too? As a matter of fact have you told this to anybody in the CG? Don't say stupid shit

  • is that north carolina

  • @mpr1234100 Cape May NJ.

  • What i don't see is the other branches jumping into -40 bellow freezing water.

  • @goboston1 If only water could actually be that cold... but i see your point

  • @goboston1 yeah, well I don't see anyone in the Coast Guard in the sandbox either...that is the AOR if you didn't know...Deployment... Desert...take your pick...No one from the Coast Guard has died in either of the Gulf Wars...OEF/OIF Odyssey Dawn etc...face it the coast guard is exactly that..the people that Guard our Coast...and are never deployed/separated from their families like the people in the REAL Military

  • @arisaf88 You're wrong a man from the Coast Guard was killed in Iraq, they were in Iraq and they do get deployed. You are either very misinformed or extremely ignorant.

  • @historyman9 that's 1 person out of the 10,000 or so that have been KIA in Iraq or Afghanistan. Sure they may have went to the Waters of the Persian Gulf but I have never seen anyone from the Coast Guard in actual Country, but all other actual Military Branches have been

  • what are the benifits of thE CG??

  • Look here, you dont have the have a freakin weapon to be military. As long as your our protecting our country, or on stand by unarmed, or even the Texas state Guard, volunteers with no weapons! they are still military. They deploy out on natural disasters and help setup shelters, and protect. Military is military. Coast Guard is military. Coast guard, marines, navy, aif force, army. Active, reserve, national Guard, state Guard.

  • Coast Guard doesn't need to be part of the military. They're a law enforcement and rescue agency really that happens to be part of the military. It is an important service and being a federal agency would suffice.

  • Yeah rog that, they can also get reasigned to the Navy by presidential order at any time. Still a trip. I've spent my whole military career believing that they were under the DoD. I need to do some homework! I'm wondering if a Reservist or National Guardsman can serve in the CG at the same time. I sure they can't, but I bet there was an attempt at some time in history.

  • @BradSD25 you can do depot direct entry petty officer training

  • @BradSD25 enlistment cap is 28 years of age. sorry bud.

  • @bipolar156 You're incorrect ---- you can be up to 32 if you have guaranteed acceptance into A school, which I do. WOOO WHOOOO!!!

  • @BradSD25 ok then cool. my bad. what a school are you going to?

  • @bipolar156 Food service :0(

  • @BradSD25 ohhh. thats a hard job man. hope your up to the task. we need good cooks.

  • @bipolar156 do explain --- I haven't signed any paperwork yet!

  • @woitek1967 I like people like you more than the ones that thank me for my service. Uniforms get dirty because we actually work for a living. Everyone has a freedom to smoke. Personally where I work covers are not allowed because it is hazardous to equipment and personnel. Oh and the weight standards in the cg are excatly the same as every other service. I bet you wish your parents loved you more as a child. The. You wouldn't be a failure.

  • USCG!

  • Uniform - 145 "1994"

  • Back in the early 1970s I had a friend that served 2 years in the U.S. Army I wanted to join the USCG and make that a life long career He toled me that the only reason I want ed the USCG is im to to scared to be a combat solder

How do ya put a shmuk like that in his place?

  • @Rollman1 You can't. He put you in your place and shut you up.

  • @duncan7599 Coral back into yours

  • When the sea's too rough for the NAVY to go out,...who do they call ? The US COAST GUARD ! The men and women who serve their country in the Coast Guard are PROUD, without being arrogant.

Still have doubts,..go see the nearest Recuriter !

I joined in 1970, and still keep in touch with others that I went through boot camp with, and served with.

Attened the USCG Auxillery's 60TH Ann at Cape May along with watching the Graduation Company Ceremony.

Personaly assisted in Burial At Sea !

    YOU ???

  • Excuse me ? The Coast Guard doesnt have guns ? The USCG is Homeland Security - Drug & Customs - Aid to Navagation - Search & Rescue, and numerious other related things that make the USA great, and safe !

USCG Boot Camp is rated at the TOP as the most grueling, yet have a higher success rate than the others combined, along with the fact that they are the smallest Military group in this Nation, they are the most respected, their job isnt to take lives, its to save them !

  • Look it's FAG camp made up of nothing but Navy rejects.

  • @duncan7599 oh look its a wild fag.

  • this looks like fun,but what are you doinging about mexican drug submarines?

  • @woitek1967 and you should think thatsthe coast guard its agsaints regulation to have a dirty uniforms and llong hair theyre probaly assholes like you pretending the coast guard to give them bad credit

  • im thinking about joining but my only consern is where would i be stationed after graduation?? do i choose?? or am i randomly placed???

  • @xReborn92 All depends on your job and education level. Most Officers are stationed on one of the Cutters.

  • LMFAO. You got to be kidding me how can anyone take the Coast Guard seriously? Bunch of Navy rejects.

  • Comment removed

  • @duncan7599 yea tell that to countless number of people they've saved

  • @duncan7599 lol. It is so much easier to join the Navy than the Coast Guard. Navy is where all the Coast Guard rejects go, believe it or not. Go try to join and see how fast you get DQ'd.

  • @jtownstomp The Coast Guard is nothing but a bunch of no frills life guards with guns.

  • @duncan7599 another senseless comment with no substance. How old are you? 13? Play a lot of COD?

  • @duncan7599 and exactly what service were you in?

  • haha i aint scared of this hahahah im shippin off in a month it LOOKS EASY

  • i might have to join the coast gaurd (yes have to, its a long story) any vets that have tips to make boot camp easier? i'm a really physically fit guy but my swimming skills are strictly basic. i only know what's need to prevent drowning.

  • easy work? bullshit I'm stationed on a 270' in Boston u try being home for only 150 days of the year try to have a personal life, if thats easy work than I wonder what my next step down would be cake work?

  • let me know how long you will be doing the rate ME its a 2 year wait

  • Great news! I just graduated from Parras Island, I'ma a marine now~~!

  • I remember wearing working and undressed blue back in 2002. Get down, get down, get down!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • There's pictures of my bootcamp company in here. LOL

  • I was just trying to explain to my friend that the Marines aren't the few, the Coast Guard actually has the smallest number of members. Then he said the Coast Guard doesn't count because they don't have guns and aren't really part of the military. If only he knew how mistaken he was.

  • @mechakreidler hahahahaha we don't have guns......SMH.....some people are truly ignorant.....

  • @mechakreidler im joining the marines we fight and you save lives all branches do a job that significantly helps are country

  • @HippoStation Yes! I agree completely. I hope it didn't seem like I was bashing the Marines in my comment, I truly do have a lot of respect for you guys.

  • @mechakreidler none taken man

  • Comment removed

  • @HippoStation Help ARE country???....really?

  • @travist0331 *R

  • @mechakreidler No offense, but you're friend sounds like a retard.

  • @mistergrin Don't worry, I'm fully aware of this :)

  • @mechakreidler The Coast Guard is part of the US Armed Forces and are also under Homeland Security. And the CG has HITRON, which are Coast Guard snipers. And tell your friend the saying "The Few, The Proud" came the motto before that "A Few Good Men" ... and I'm enlisted in the USMC. Lol but just sticking up for my fellow brothers in another branch.

  • @mechakreidler You know what's funny? I just found out today that the Coast Guard is not actually under the DoD. They fall in under the Department of Transportation!

  • @dumbenoughou812 Well it was before 9/11, now it's the Department of Homeland Security. Pretty silly that it used to be though :)

  • @mechakreidler

It has fewer numbers because no one wants to join.

    I couldn't join because I can't run that slow.

  • @XTacoMangX .....

  • @mechakreidler they're department of defense and a part of homeland security.

  • @branjumba I'm going into the army, but you should see what mos's have to offer. Follow your dream. Coast Guard is very good for if you want to go to college, have a career outside of the Coast Guard. Army is if you want a taste of desert warfare and 'kill' people. Coast Guard is a better choice though if you want better money, college, and have a life after it.

Hope this helps. :) (Talk to recruiters from both branches as well like someone else said)

  • Nice to see the changes that have taken place sense I went to boot camp back in 1960. I was in Papa Company of course are uniforms were much different back then and I would guess training to. I see the M-1 Grand is still being used in training. I was in USCG for 4 years then went in Army. But them were the days only weighed 130# and my wast was 26" but I would say best shape and totally fiscally fit after boot camp I ever been in my life. I do miss it a lot.

  • @billjoh 130!?

  • The song fits the video. :D

  • soo i was talking to a friend of mine who was a Marine and the advice he gave me was "dont join the Marines, unless you want to end up like me." how? "crazy, just join the Coast Guard" lol

  • At :50 was my LCC for class Oscar-177 BMC Hampton I still have more respect for that man than anyone else on this earth

  • navy guy here. this this so much better than navy boot camp where all you did was sitting down and read, and fold clothes.

  • Proud to say I will be there in a couple months!

  • I dont know what I should join, the Army or the U.S coast guard. Im not that good of a swimmer so I will not be a rescue swimmer and I dont want to be on a cutter in the middle of antarcrica or some were. Also there is somethings that I dont like about the Army.

  • @branjumba talk to a recruiter from both branches of military and get as much info as you can.

  • To the mud puddle sailors, accurately known a puddle pirates: I want to thank you for making our shores safe. Your blue cub scout uniforms are appropriate for you. I am sure any navy of countries hostile to the US, won't attack because the harbor ducks are waiting for them. To hear the puddle pirates talk you would think they are the only entity that helps people or 'saves lives'. The CGs the biggest bunch of sea story telling alcoholics, in other words pathological liars.

  • @McDago100 the cg is actually run by the navy during times of war so i guess technically it's a part of that. it's way more than you think of it

  • @McDago100 Right, because the CG's purpose is to fight other navies. Looks like someone's mad they couldn't make the cut =P

  • I can not wait to be a coast gaurd if all goes well with my medical exams :)

  • lol coast guard are fucking hardcore!!!!! lol u can tell by the music, "u guys are badasses"

  • cant wait to be a coast guard!!!!

  • @wpxcrunner Where did you find the photo that appears at the very end of the video? Any chance I could get that file? It is absolutely stunning!

  • ....i love my brothers and sisters in arms.... but they kinda look like fags in their little jumpsuits....

  • Can they fail someone if they cannot physically do some obsticles?

  • @MistaEG33 explain what you mean by obstacles? you must pass a pt test.... i dont think it should be terribly hard for the coast guard, but as long as you pass that, you're good to go.... I'm assuming. That's how it is in the Army.

  • is boot tough i dont want to join if its going to be kinda hard?

  • @yadatalatura Every branches boot camp is difficult. It is designed to make you battle ready.

It probably will be hard at times, if you dont want to test yourself go work at mcdonalds.

  • Hmmmm... "I wanna join the service, what should I join..

The Marines? Na, I get shot at.

The Army? Na, I'll get shot at.

The Navy? Na, I'm not gay.

    The Coast Guard?

Hmmmm... Spend all day kickin' it in the barracks or out on a ship just cruising around with nothing to do.... YES!!!!

  • @psygn0sis

Hate to burst your bubble, but I work 12 to 14 hour days. 5 days a week starting at 5 am. I live with a marine and I can count on my fingers the number of times he's left for work before me, or returned after me.

  • @psygn0sis LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Good answer!!!!!!

  • ive wanted to join the Coast Guard for awhile, but lately ive been discouraged... if anyone in the Coast Guard can msg/inbox me....would really appreciate it, thanks.

  • I am a Navy vet, but if I have nothing but respect for the Coast Guard as I do for all branches of the US military. Each branch has their own specific job to do, and is not better or worse than the other.

  • Every part of the Military is vital in the Mission of the United States of America. You all who are picking what side is better is ridiculous. We all have our booger's and we all have our motivators. Fact of life. - Peace, love and chicken grease, Anonymous Lance Cooley USMC

  • Thanks for making the Coast Guard look really ghey with the worst video on YouTube.

  • What I liked about the CG is that it's a humanitarian service as opposed to the other branches. Granted... it is armed and all the more so since the transfer to Dept of Homeland Security, but one of it's primary missions is Search And Rescue. It only has 42000 enlisted and officers total. Thats a small number to conduct Drug Enforcement, Aids to Nav, Marine Safety, Polar Ops, Environmental Protect..etc. I miss it :-/

  • i thought there were only four branches in the military: army, air force, navy, and marines but apparantly theres another one, coast guard! lol

  • dont for get national guard too! lol

  • ive been thinking about going through with this training right after high school

  • @445rocketman The military isn't going anywhere....take your time to decide and weigh the options...I only say this because I jumped into it right after high school and always wondered...I do not regret my decision in anyway I had a blast, I'm just saying, don't rush into anything. Rock on.

  • GREAT VIDEO! :)

  • Leaving for boot camp June 14th. I can't wait!! I want the Coast Guard to be my career.

  • @MrATLfalconfan Nice. Im trying to go by then. Waiting for my waiver to go through i had High BP at MEPS so I needed a waiver. Where are you going for Bootcamp?

  • @metalrave Cape May, NJ. That is where all USCG recruits go.

  • COAST GUARD ARE THE SHIT!!!! WE FIGHT DRUG DEALERS ALL DAY AND SIT ON THE BEACH AND HOLLA AT SUM FINE HONEYS!! YEAH!! WE SAVED 4 MARINES!! THEY SAID TO US "THANK U COAST GUARD I WANT TO LIKE YOU"

  • Hey heres a thought WHO CARES!!!!!! I got family in the marines and the coast guard. They both say it was hard, they both say it was fun, and they both say it was worth it. With out the Marines theres no rapid response to an emergency. With out the Coast Gaurd. Theres no one to protect our shores while the Marines are away. Sounds like to me you both need each other.

  • CG does deserve respect but I hate seeing these comments about how Marines cant do this or that. And most of it sounds pretty made up. Yes Marines get more respect cause they fight, people seem to respect that more. So it doesnt make since to be hating on Marines when people just naturally have a high respect for them. They all serve, so it doesnt make since to be hating on either branch

  • How many laps are required to pass bootcamp? I can't seem to find information on google :[.

  • Here’s some anecdotal evidence that Marines can't handle CG boot camp, let alone being a Coastie. In 91', B139, the guy across from me fell to the floor in a fetal ball during formation; he ended up being discharged for psychological reasons. He couldn’t handle it, and guess what, he was a Marine. So much for those broad brushes....

  • I have a brother that was a marine, he died in Afghanistan. Before he died he told me thank you because when I was a member of the coast guard I would be doing things he wouldn't dare to do. But it doesn't change the fact that he was the toughest man I have ever met. The marines taught him to be a warrior. The coast guard taught me to protect what is valuable. No matter what branch of military you join today, they all teach the same thing: Respect EVERYONE.

  • wow it's changed since 92.

  • the dayssss are longgggg, but the weekssss fly byeeee, Lima 163 CPO Isbell / PO1 Doughton

    F innn crazies

  • these nerds that arent marines come on here and talk shit all the time

  • @offmynutz9000 I like marines and hope to be one someday, but it seems marines are the biggest E-Thugs of them all.

  • Comment removed

  • wow, this looks lame....Try Paris Island. Marines all the way.

  • @MrKaLiWaYz Funny how just over a week ago the Coast Guard rescued four Marines from a downed helicopter. Not to say the coast guard is better than the Marines, but just think twice next time you say stuff like that.

  • @ckreidler4 Don't worry bout that dumb ass i'm in the Army and bout to get out and be a Marine but I got all the respect for the Coast Guard they do shit I wouldn't do God bless them.

  • To the 'hard for the guard' retard: You are a bunch of powder puff puddle pirates. Me stuck out in the water? Hasn't happened yet. Most local sheriffs have boats that do more than the coast guard does. The coast guard does have its place however; as a bunch of harbor ducks.

  • @McDago100 shut up retard,,you dont know shit about coast guard!! COAST GUARD ALL THE WAY

  • @McDago100 i bet you drowned at one time in your pathetic life and the coast guard couldnt make it in time to save you from brain damage. learn to swim before you go in water.

  • Joined the US Coast Guard in 92 after high school and got out in 99. Best thing I have ever done. Travelled all over the world on two whec's and got an electrical trade. I now live and work in Australia as a well paid electrician. The diversity of the electrical experience in the Coast Guard was amazing. Got what I wanted from the Coast Guard and got out.

  • i want to join the cost guard the only thing is I suck big time at swimming

  • @urieldx If you can't swim, you certainly don't want to depend on the Coast Guard.

  • @McDago100 Please child, who peed in your Cheerios this morning.

  • @Sept0pus Me!

  • Coast Guard basic was a joke. I was told 2nd toughest to the Marines physically! Horse shit! The Army has a far more demanding basic training. The coast guard is lacking in professionalism totally. Why don't coasties switch to other branches of the military? Because they would have to do basic training over again! The puddle pirates of the mud puddle navy are a joke. I was in the reserve for 6 years. Big mistake! Puddle pirates are a joke!

  • @McDago100 your whole life is a joke WHAT NOW

  • @ilikeyoursister1 Oh, are a puddle pirates feelings hurt? Most city police departments are more military than the Coast Guard. Mud puddle sailors like you, are why the other services laugh at the Coast Guard. How many small boat stations amount to basically patrolling some cesspool? Your helicopter crews are no better than any hospitals with a Helicopter. You are the joke, at the tax payers expense, unfortunately.

  • @McDago100 oh wow my feelings are hurt

you know what you are some pathetic piece of shit to ever walk this planet i bet you were one of those people who join the reserve so you can stay at home with your mommy and daddy and suck your moms tits because you are afraid to serve your country

  • @ilikeyoursister1 Serve my country? By towing in boaters who are too stupid to know how to sail? By boarding people boats who are doing nothing to hurt anyone? By maintaining buoys miles past our shoreline ? The coast guard is a joke. As I said earlier, some small boat station on some river is hardly serving your country. If you want to serve your country, don't work for the government, oh I forgot, most coasties are too stupid for real jobs.

  • @McDago100 I'm going to laugh so hard when you're stuck out in the water and the Coast Guard has to come save you. The Coast Guard has its place in this world, as do all of the other services.

  • @McDago100 dude just shut up

  • @McDago100 Dude be serious, if you had any concern for our country what-so-ever, you would know that the coastguard is just as important as any other branch of military. We fight just like anyone else. By the way, I bet money you are one of those people who spends hours a day complaining about the number of illegal immigrants. Guess what! We keep them OUT. That is us. I have worked real jobs, outside the government, and never felt half as completed as I do now.

  • @TheCreid18 bro just wanted to say i liked your comment for a) it was awesome and b) bc your serving our country. and i thank you for that

  • @TheCreid18 so you keep out illegal immigrants? fucking lying liberal peice of shit. fuck you theres millions of them coming every fucking year. its wat makes up a good chunk of our debt......fuck u liberal

  • @ghilliemann

first, it's not even a single million of them coming over per year, compared to the millions like you said.

second, it's not really what caused our debt at all, that was from overspending.

and lastly, not allowing immigrants to come over would be conservative, not liberal.

    are you seriously that stupid?

  • @wevor4tard NOT ALLOWING IMMIGRANTS OVER THE BOARDER WOULD BE RIGHT YOU FUCKING IDIOT. But you stupid fuck liberals want to keep them coming here so they're familys will keep voting for them......fuck you ignorant liberal fucker

  • @ghilliemann

I'm conservative, and you're ignorant... haha!

and secondly, they wouldn't be able to vote... They're illegal immigrants remember?

And that's what the guy that you're arguing with is trying to keep illegal immigrants out... FUCKHEAD.

  • @wevor4tard STUPID FUCKHEAD. I SAID THEIR FAMILYS U DUMB FUCKING IDIOT. USE UR FUCKING BRAIN U PEICE OF SHIT

  • @ghilliemann

odds are the immigrants come here to support their family... The anti illegal-immigration group easily out weighs the families of illegal immigrants.

And if they did vote for them to come over, why don't we allow Illegal immigrants to come over?

CAUSE THEIR VOTES DONT MEAN SHIT!

hurry up and graduate from middle school before you comment again for me.

  • @wevor4tard STUPID FUCK IF U FUCKING CLOSE THE BORDERS ALL THE LEGAL MEXICANS WILL NOT FUCKING VOTE FOR THEM. SHUT UR FUCKING ELEMENTARY ASS UP LITTLE LIBERAL FUCK.

  • @ghilliemann

lol, we don't just allow them to walk through.

    They sneak through dumbass.

  • @ghilliemann PLUS ALL DA LEGAL IMMIGRANTS WUD NOT VOTE FOR A DEMOSHIT IF THEY CLOSED DA BORDERS. FUK U LIBERAL

  • @TheCreid18 Damn so I will have to face youre ass if I wanna get to US. Shit

  • @McDago100 The CG requires a minimum ASVAB score of 40 and the intellectual giant who wanted to join the Marines would have to score a 32.....

  • @passt2008 Marines who work on jet fighters are not dumb, neither are those who do ReCon. I am not a Marine, I only have a high regard for them as a whole. The thing of Marines being dumb is a fallacy.

  • @McDago100 Look another computer desk General.

  • @McDago100 Damn son chill out the coast guard has there place.

  • try Paris Island

  • just playin all military

  • this gives me chills ive been out of cape may for two years already....anyone considering doing this its the best thing you could ever do.

  • i want to join aswell .. thinking of calling a rucruiter .. texas area .. the valley .. anyone?

  • Thanks. Enjoyed watching your video. Went through Cape May back in 1969.

Served on the Tamaroa and Gallatin during my tour with the Guard. Had a great time back then. Semper Paratus!

  • united states puddle pirate

  • You need that if you have a GED. Every 30 pts is an extra pay grade but its really nothing. Just join sooner the better.

  • I spoke with a recruiter on February 9th. Went to Meps the following week for asvab, scored a 79. Feb 22nd i took my physical. Signed last week my contract. I swear in tomorrow morning. I leave for Basic on April 12th. Semper Paratus

  • @MarkZatkowsky What does your grade point average have to be to qualify for the coast guard?

  • @VioletTeen17 You have to have atleast a high school diploma. If you have a GED you need atleast i believe 15 to 20 college credit hours.

  • @MarkZatkowsky Is 15 to 20 college credit like normal or is that extra credit

  • @MarkZatkowsky The best advice i can give you is do cardio till your eyes fall out and memorize "the helmsman" they give you its a little book your recruiter should have given you. Hope you join our family and become a shipmate!

  • i want to join

  • Coast guards are not pussy's they do alot of crazy shit that you couldn't do in a hart beat!, "vaciloneroo" is right we should all have respect for each military branch because they all risk their lives to surve our country!

  • @BIakDragon i really dont care if i have bad grammar, i was on my phone anyway, plus coast gaurds are pussys like i care!

  • I'd still like to know why coast guard LE training mainly involves beating on PEACEFULL protesters(at least thats what we did in Group North Bend).......especially when it is being done by personell who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and defent it from ALL ENEMIES-foreign AND DOMESTIC.................answer me this, Caped Crusader!!

  • I leave for basic training in one month and I can't wait!!!

  • @Evandiver3 Lucky!!

I am barely speaking to a recruiter, if you don't mind me asking how long exactly after you first spoke to a recruiter did you get to the point of leaving to basic training???

Is it like a month or a couple months??

Im really excited and want to leave asap lol

    Thanks
