man... im screwd in japan... since im a kido... if i run a LITTLE... i get sweat... if i jump its certain sweat... AND... if i drink cold water... i SWEAT so... yeah... i sweat all the time... im never getting a japanese gf hahahaha ... im sad now...
I sort of like having sweat rolling down my face and body when I play sports or at my job. Makes me feel like I've done something. Maybe it's a guy thing? If it came to being in public than I would like to NOT have sweat all over me.
I lived in japan during the summer.... and i must say those towels save lives. Especially in Japanese high school because there is no AC. Good thing i caught onto the "Towel Fashion" or else id be having sweat stains all over. Would be very embarrassing. Anywhooo we like to be clean don't we? :D lol
When I am in America I drive my car everywhere and every building blasts the air conditioning at full speed, so I don't need a towel. But in Japan it is hot, I walk everywhere, and we don't use air conditioning as much. Well, that is my reasoning for carrying a towel with me.
I've seen kids here in America wear towels on their heads like wigs when they go to the park, but I think it's more like "street" fashion than any really useful purpose.
the towel fashion existed since before Edo/Samurai era, wore by construction workers, craftsman, etc, who sweats a lot. Those are called Hachimaki, or Tenugui, and are piece of nylon that is similar to the towel. Well, back in late 80s to 90s, young construction workers wear towel like that(and they are usually badass), so... it may became fashion in recent years? but I feel like I've seen the towel fashion since the day I was born.
I said "nylon," but haha, I don't know why I said, probably cuz I just bought a nylon jacket. I meant "a piece of cloth." You know what I meant. I love your vids, please keep posting :)
The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy has a few things to say on the subject of towels.
A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours;
you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to- hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you - daft as a bush, but very ravenous);
you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.
More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc.,
etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.
I can fully appreciate the towel having gone to Comiket this year, being in a heaving queue (consisting of thousands of people) for two hours in the middle of the baking Japanese summer. I'm surprised you actually haven't made a video about fans and the general heat-battling required for the rather brutally hot summers! (At least, brutal for me, being British and coming from a nice cold country!) The fan was the most essential item I bought while in Japan!
I keep getting more and more confused about the weather in your videos. Sometimes you report about christmas and show people in t-shirt's. Then again I see people with warm or average-temperatured clothing, and you show beach girls in the next second.
So whats the weather like there right now? Do they have the same seasons like Europe for example? Cold winters and hot summers?
The weather for Japan is just like it is like in England, and the US. They have cold winters, depending where in Japan you live, and mild to hot summers, again depending where you live. So right now it would be cold over there.
Yeah, sweat is a pain to deal with when it's coming out like bullets. There's really only 1 situation where I don't mind sweat though. I'll leave that to one's imagination! ^_^
I carry a small towel everywhere I go, it's a microfiber towel and it is useful for everything...cleaning computer, my glasses, and even sweat. Remember 'Hitchikers guide to the galaxy', never go anywhere without your towel
