I would stay well away from it, unplayable really. I can remember after the Champion Edition first hack, there was loads of new hacked versions. There was a hyper fighting with insane speed and one where dragon punch would spray fireballs from top to bottom.

Ha ha, oh thats right! You could do a fireball, jump, do a fireball, jump, do a fireball etc. etc. and just repeat for ages - I thought you would actually go on for eternity but there is a limit I think - you just hit that invisible barrier and you character (ryu/ken/guile) just comes FLYING back down! I also liked the ultra slow fireballs - being able to trap you opponent with them as Guile does in this video - attacks on both sides!

There's an arcade by Brighton beach which still has this (and another one which has most of the other late 80s and 90s arcades - Turtles, Simpsons etc). Had a couple of goes on it recently but it just feels broken, which is what you'd expect from a dodgy hack I suppose.

Ha ha, yeah they were knock offs - pirated boards from China or some crazy place.. Adding ANYTHING to SF 2 would be guarenteed to pull in the punters and if the boards cost less to buy.. Well, more profit for the arcade owners! I tend to remember they just had a normal Streetfighter Logo - not rainbow coloured, I think there were MANY different version though.. Some where bearable, others just too silly to play properly.

IIRC you need sf2ce as the parent rom for either sf2rb or sf2rb2 (rainbow set 1 and rainbow set 2 roms) to work.

search for those roms : sf2ce (parent) and the accompanying rainbow set roms sf2rb and sf2rb2

here's a trick google "parent directory sf2rb2" and there will probably be some direct links to all the roms you need. you can find all sorts of files that way by searching for "parent directory [x]"

play them with mame32 emulator program and a psx joystick w/ usb adapter for best results =P

(OK I'm late) Think of "The Accelerator" as "Rainbow," but without the homing projectiles. Ryu/Ken/Guile's MP (strong) fireball/sonic boom slanted upward, and if you used HP (fierce) instead, it would slant downward.
