Really, the background is a video overlay. What we can't see, is Derren's assistant flailing around wildly, in a desperate attempt to get Derren to react to something we, the audience, cannot see. This is training for Derren, since on the big day (the day he predicts the lotto), any kind of reaction to his assistant replacing the balls would be easily noted.
Derren is actually an android sent back to this time from the future. He is setting lots of subliminal messages and conscious messages which will one day accumulate to create one message which we will act upon unconsciously which will save us from ending the world prematurely in the future.

You know nothing about Darren Brown. He admits that everything he does is all illusion and tricks. And often times he will show in detail how he does the trick afterwards. He does not claim to be magic, he is an illusionist and hypnotist.

A 'magician' cannot take part in the National Lottery (or play in Casino's; which is a totally different kettle of fish) this applies here in the UK. The reason for not allowed in Lotto is not because anyone would be stupid enough to believe someone could actually predict the numbers and legitimately win; the reason is that because if a magician won the bloody thing then the entire nation would be up in an uproar thinking it was fixed.

The trick Derren performed was to convince people that the numbers could be genuinely predicted using crowd mentality. He adds the realistic explanation of weighted balls at the end for the cynics and less gullible out there. As for the actual lottery ball 'trick', Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is almost always right, rubberskinuk is probably correct. The final balls/numbers weren't shown to the 24 because he didn't know them then. He revealed them in a separate room for a reason.

Or a slight underscan of the picture so you can pan and tilt slightly to produce 'wobble' - just sync live and playback together to do the split. Really, the background is a video overlay. What we can't see, is Derren's assistant flailing around wildly, in a desperate attempt to get Derren to react to something we, the audience, cannot see. This is training for Derren, since on the big day (the day he predicts the lotto), any kind of reaction to his assistant replacing the balls would be easily noted.

You know nothing about Darren Brown. He admits that everything he does is all illusion and tricks. And often times he will show in detail how he does the trick afterwards. He does not claim to be magic, he is an illusionist and hypnotist.
If you knew Darren Brown at all, you would know that he did NOT predict randomness but that there is some clever illusion behind it that he will reveal.

The trick was a basic 'Reveal Effect' Derren does not use hypnosis as this does not exist. He is a magician/mentalist and he NEVER tells people the truth about how he perfomed his tricks. He gives FALSE explanations ALWAYS and obviously.. Dohhhhhhh!!!!!

derren relies on people ignorance & stupidity and inability to listen. He only doesn't use Stooges when he says he doesn't. He only doesn't use camera tricks when he says he doesn't. He didn't say 'No camera trickery' in his lotto trick.. & it was just that. Again I will say he gives FALSE explanations for his tricks. Here's something to consider:
A 'magician' cannot take part in the National Lottery (or play in Casino's; which is a totally different kettle of fish) this applies here in the UK. The reason for not allowed in Lotto is not because anyone would be stupid enough to believe someone could actually predict the numbers and legitimately win; the reason is that because if a magician won the bloody thing then the entire nation would be up in an uproar thinking it was fixed.

he is very talented, no doubt. He is a great entertainer and a great crowd pleaser. But so much of his stuff is just pre-prepared nonsense. So many people are like, "wow, he's a genius, he's not human". Come the fuck on. In this day and age, in this modern era with all this technology at our hands, any illusion is possible. The trick Derren performed was to convince people that the numbers could be genuinely predicted using crowd mentality. He adds the realistic explanation of weighted balls at the end for the cynics and less gullible out there. As for the actual lottery ball 'trick', Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is almost always right, rubberskinuk is probably correct. The final balls/numbers weren't shown to the 24 because he didn't know them then. He revealed them in a separate room for a reason.

This is how it was done:
1) the camera we saw was computer controled
2) advanced motion tracking and video overlay basically 'hid' the left part of the screen whilst someone simply placed the balls.
3) once balls had been placed the overlay was turned off and were back too 100% live feed
news at 10 on ITV use simliar technology for the moving background that is chromakeyed must also 'moves' as the camera moves
this is 100% how it was done

it isn't a split screen for the lottery thing, cos it's a wobbling, handheld camera, and if like me you've ever done a split screen, you'll know its absolutely impossible to do a split screen with a handheld camera. so go fuck yourself, he is one of the cleverest men alive.

Well HairofTime you may have done split screen, but you've not used a motion control head with your camera have you? Or a slight underscan of the picture so you can pan and tilt slightly to produce 'wobble' - just sync live and playback together to do the split. I'm a cameraman and specialise in handheld and that was NOT handheld!
