@JANDAR69 I don't know why it's marked spam and I'm not upset. But it's about time you put Cico Risto's name on this video. It should have gone in the video title on Day 1 so that viewers know who is playing, not after 20,000 views.
hey man it makes a better MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
SOUND.
WAIT TILL THESE ANIMAL ACTAVISTS SEE IT , AND THE'LL BE WANTING TO KNOW WHAT I DID WITH IT'S TAIL. HAHHAAH THERE IS NO BAN TO GOAT DOCKING YET , > CUTTING OF TAILS
Is that a second small drone coming out of the drone stock? I've never seen a Macedonian pipe with that particular configuration on the drone stock and am wondering what it is.
good day buddy, it is what you say a second drone. As you know it's not commen to the Macedonian bagpipe but it's only an introduction by those whom have the ability to create what they play and it's use is to mimick as if thoe there is a seconed bagpipe in the one place. nothing more than that it's just a personal preferance. haha
I play the highland pipes, and it's great to see and hear other pipes from around the World, but that does kinda look and sound like a man trying to rape a goat lol
I only noticed your comment now. Risto can teach very well! I have been learning gajda from him for 3 years, and he lives near Mt Druitt. Call him any time on (02) 9835 4732. He is very friendly and easy to talk to, and available any time. Pozdrav.
(cont...) I have preformed with Hellene musicians from various parts using this style of instrument ... and NO, you can't claim this instrument as being of only from one certain region (country). Over all, this type of instrument was used for many, many moons by many, many tribes throughtout the Balkans. although, This was a beautiful piece of music. The man (in this video) is very talented and sounds great
thanks for your comments man . i must say your the only Greek so far that has spoken like a true person with out beeing childish.have'nt checked your dadta yet but are you in Australia by chance ??
this is a Macedonian gaida, it uses a sheep or goat skin not a bladder. the style of play and the sound, the ornamentation are more macedonian than anything else. obviously near the borders things start to merge and such but that's a different story.
the greek bagpipe is a droneless bagpipe with a double chanter. the bulgarian bagpipes (thracian, djura, and rhodope) also have different styles of playing and different sounds and different ornamentation even though they also have a flea hole on the top and a drone.
i dont care who you know or who you've performed with because this instrument is primarily found and made in macedonia, it is a macedonian instrument
there is also a serbian gaida, and a croatian one, yet you come in here and say that we cant call this a macedonian gaida? if we cant do that then can you call the scottish highland bagpipes scottish? or the scottish smallpipes scottish?
i guess bagpipes are played by everyone and we should completely ignore all the differences no matter how great or how little
ok you say what you say and i'll say what i say and all the other ehtnomusicologists say, as well as the people who live there and have had the instrument and its way of playing handed down to them.
you just dont want to call it macedonian because you think macedonia is greek. i wasnt claiming that it's only from one place i'm saying that it's playd predominantly in a certain region. two different things
but anyways, you dont seem to know much about gaida
UUUUUHHHH .... I'm sorry to break certain bubbles here but throughout the Balkan region the goat-bladder (if that) bagpipe has been used whether HELLENE, Slavic, Turkish, Bulgaian, Illyrian, etc ....
hello jahellas , it's a Macedonian style bagpipe this means the sound is perticular heard in Macedonia's regions. Yes the greeks have the gajda as well but you guys have a tottaly diffrent sound just like the bulgarians. how many greek weddings ive played the greeks never liked to here the gajda. why ??? it's Macedonian the say were Greeks no bull shit
yep, RT - he reckons he's now made his last gajda; a lot of work and folks won't generally pay what it's worth; he had prepared a very good bag, so thick it's likely to last 10 years, which some guy then wouldn't pay for, so I have bought it; it's great to play on, especially since my old one was leaky as hell ;) he also happened to be experimenting with Australian-grown boxwood for the first time, which made a very nice chanter
Make a set of pipes like this using a Jacobs goat.
